Thank you for your review. Now I feel better about buying one. Seeing it in action.
+john royer thank you for watching I appreciate it!
Me too, I just got 1 yesterday, because I bought the bauer 450, and it couldn't even remove my lug nuts, so I returned it and paid the difference, and this 1 removed them like butter, and now that I saw this video, im happier that I got it, because I specially bought it to do massive suspension work on a rusty van, this will make it a breeze to work on, the only thing is that I will have to buy a second battery, and I cant find any online, I may have to get it from the harbor itself lol
I love this tool, zero issues so far
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE how long have you used it for? You think it will last a few years?
Anyone use this tool over a year or so? If so, how is it holding up?
*Excelente kit **MyBest.Tools** suficiente mente potente y ligero. la luz incorporada en el taladro es muy superior a versiones anteriores que se encuentra cerca del broquero.*
Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.
Love to see a review after four years of used and see how it performed. Nothing last forever but understanding how quick it breaks down helps me spend every penny wisely.
I Own this tool and it is a beast!!!!!!!!!! I have been using it for two years now and it is still strong. I owned a 1/2 in Snap-On and this tool to me is stronger. By the way I'm an ASE Automotive Master Tech.
I work for a tow trucking company and I change a lot of flat tires. I just bought this gun about a week ago and man this thing is a beast. It has been performing beyond my expectations. Great review man. Great tool and for the price you don't have to worry about breaking the bank.
+Manuel Mendoza glad to hear its working out for you, you cant go wrong with this tool . thank you for watching!
This thing still holding up for you 4 years later?
@@jaybourbon8608 solid as ever. Still going strong.
@@manuelmendoza6124 Batteries still hold a charge well also? Appreciate the quick response! Probably gonna go grab one from harbor freight for black Friday.
@@jaybourbon8608 yeah no problem man. Yes the charge still holds well. I’ve put it through ringer. Definitely worth every penny. In my line of work I have to use it everyday all day. And 4 years later I’m still glad I purchased it. Get one bro you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks for the review. I really appreciate a person that takes his time to review a part or tool.
Nice video ,I like how you showed us your wheels were actually torqued at 150 ft lbs. some other videos i watched on a different impact told us they were torqued at such specs but, never showed us .
Thanks to you, I purchased this tool. Absolutely one of the finest in my tool assortment! Most happy!
Good review. For what I need one for this will work just fine
Thanks for the review
Thank you for reviewing I was wondering about this due to the fact it is about half the cost of the Dewalt.
I always love tool reviews, this one is great.
Great review my friend, I watched few others review. I'm going to get the impact wrench.
just bought a 1200, had to trade in the smaller drill but this is AMAZING. it works
Thanks for that impact tool review, I've been thinking o getting one since the price is more than fair
you won't be disappointed thank you for watching!
It’s amazing what cordless tools can do now.
I picked one up today because of your video it was very helpful.
David Ortiz thank you i appreciate!
Harbor freight has done a good job with this one. More high end.
We brought the 20V 1/2 Earthquake CordLess Impact man that thing is a beast. Paid for itself already on two jobs we did with it with the tool. The battery came fully charged as well which was nice we could use it right away.
+Chief Machining glad to hear you like it, im glad with my buy so far so good.
I like their air impacts and was curious about this one. I'm can't wait to pick one up.
Thank you for the informative video. I'm sold.
H Smith thank you for watching!
Thank You for your review
Shoutout from TAT Express out of Hutchins, TX
Great review and a serious impact! We don't have HF in Canada but my brother works for the company that owns DeWalt so I went with the DCF889M2 kit which includes the wrench, 20v 4ah lithium battery x 2, charger and case...for $150Cdn. How could I refuse?
I have one. Sor far, I've use it to remove tires, and brake related bolts.Easy peasy. I originally bought it because I'm planning to replace two rear hub bearings on a vehicle and replace them. Nice tool. I've step up my DIY game
Eric I am a Harbor Freight fan an have been looking into buying an impact gun, After seeing your review I found the one I want, Thank you for an honest no bull$hit review.
thank you!
thank you! you won't be disappointed👍
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE hey Eric, do you know anywhere I can get a switch for my impact wrench? Mine seems to have given up.realfas4u@hotmail.com
@B. O. B. do you have an actual link or item name... because there are so many junk copies
I have one. Use it all the time. Love it
Great review and video. Thanks
Thank you!
I have it, its heavy but its very strong. I know there's a Craftsman impact for around the same price, but I'm happy with the HF impact wrench. Nice case and charger came with it.
same here, I'm surprised on how powerful this tool is and it has great battery life
Just bought this guy so I can easily do tire rotations and other work in my garage at home. Excited to try it out
How was it?
Did the job just fine?
just like you said is ok for the weekend DIYfer but that's it and power wise a 3/8 MAC will rip your hand off but like I said is a good tool for once in a while use
First of all, the gun itself looks great. I have a 20V kobalt I keep in the back of my SUV for on the road tire changes. It also takes off lug nuts, strut bolts and hub nuts. Tried it on a crank bolt on a civic in a junkyard and it turned the engine. That's why Hondas have the special crank holding socket to keep the engine from turning. I would have done the test video on a junkyard car, though. Now you have a leaking front seal and when you take off a hub nut you aren't supposed to reuse it.
I work in a new HFT store and see that the company now sells tools for the person who just wants a drill at the house. “..in case...” to those for the demanding professionals. I look to the Hispanics who are in the construction industry to learn of the best values. And in several instances it is still seems to be Chicago Electric.
Just bought one. Couldn't remove a lower control arm bolt (19mm) that was rusted and seized even after soaking it in PB Blaster for 24 hours. Had no problem with lug nuts and shock bolts.
Great review!
It seems like it does an amazing job, I have the 1/2" Milwaukee M18, it looks like it competes very well with it. I actually just saw this at my local harbor freight last night and I was staring at it for like 5 minutes because it looks just like the Milwaukee. Great job, I might have to pick one of these HF impacts up and do a side by side review on them.
+Noe Panduh Pandizzle i wouId highly recommend it, i was playing with this one for a few minutes to so much that i had to get it, i also got the 3/8 version its great as wel the battery last a long time i did front and back brakes and i didnt even use one bar if battery. if you get it ill be sure to watch it 👍
That was cool may have to check it on their website for price and warranty
my coworker uses this at a dealership on the daily numerous of tire rotations and its pretty badass we compared it to another co workers matco 1/2 inch cordless and they were about the same only thing is that the matco quality kinda feels better but the earthquake was crazy lighter to carry around
+Free Spirit i never turn on my compressor anymore thanks to this tool it's great!
Very good review. I have watched it several times. It is so much better than those reviews which just take off a lug nut and call it done. several applications is much better although I would like to see you take it a junkyard and get some big rusted on bolts and really give it a very good test. keep on keeping on!
+Mark Michelson thank you for watching and thank you for the feed back. next time i go to the junk yard I'll make a video 👍
Great review...
We just welded 2 lug nuts together, put the earthquake on one side and snap on cordless on the other. The earthquake spun snap on backwards both in reverse and forward. Definitely a strong gun. Well worth the 239.
What model was it. Cuz I did the same with my snap on and it broke the earthquake
I held mine on my back lugs of my 92 gmc 454. Wife revved up and dropped the clutch, earthquake stopped it, made it do a backwards burnout. 🔘☁️☁️
@@cutlasscrazy6081 lol!!
Great informational video.
Walter B Thank you!
great video ...just wondering can it remove rusted catalytic converter bolts near the exhaust manifold.???
Now I'll buy thanks for the video
Thank you for watching!
I actually saw this at Harbor freight store I pulled the trigger several times and I could tell it's got some real power. When you go to the junk yard, please try it on SEVERAL of the Famous NOTORIOUS Honda Crank Shaft bolts bcuz them bolts are a PAIN to remove.
you need a special socket for those honda crank bolts or you'll just be wasting your time. I've seen several strap-on and high end brands fail to remove those bolts.
my 3/4 drive Earthquake takes those Honda crank bolts right off, been using it for years for that
Richard Mercer which one because my earthquake is not busting a grape on my Honda Pilot crankshaft
I work on my own vehicles when I don't need a lift. So for my use Ill buy it. I have a compressor & guns but sometimes I get tired of the noise, hose etc.
+Wormanatti same here, plus setting up the gun and compressor is time consuming.
ERICSDIYGARAGE Exactly!
You should compare it to the Kobalt 1/2 impact wrench from Lowes. It's about 270 for the 1/2 and 3/8 inch combo. So you get two impact wrenches for the price of this one.
Your joking right
Great tools
This will replace my dewalt corded impact ..awesome review
+Tom Pajak thank you for watching
Tom Pajak ...it shouldn't. Get the DeWalt 1/2 XR 20V impact. It's about 2000000% better than this thing.
Great Video man.
james hawkins Thank you for the support!
Perfexcellent !
great review 👍👍
Z28jones F-body Channel thank you!
I need to pick one up .
But mine has already failed.. I've used it about 5 times to take off lug nuts and some transmission mount bolts and it just up and died.. Only got the light to work and would not spin in either direction. I finally grabbed the long socket that was installed and pulled the trigger and spun by hand it and it 'caught' and would then would only work, 'counter clockwise'.. (Off).. and not clockwise. I took it back and exchanged it. My new one has a different part number 63852 for whatever that means. Maybe there is something different with this new one that will help with the reliability. WHO KNOWS
Good review man
mn4a15 Thanks for watching👍
That thing kicks ass!
Great video man.. just just my back hurted seeing you torquing down the tires pushing up.. instead of pushing down. Lol is easier and less stress on your back. Trust me been wrenching for 10 years and now i feel the pain!
thank you for your feedback 👍
I did accomplish the same result with my 20v workpro 1/2 drive impact wrench took everything with ease
Wow insane tool
for suspension work and lug nuts, do you recommend the 3/8 inch or the 1/2 inch impact wrench? I'm trying to decide if I should go for the 3/8 inch because that one does have an adapter to use 1/2 inch sockets. So that means the 3/8 inch would be cheaper (even though using extensions will have less torque)
Does this tool have variable trigger to control the speed?
Love Like a Hurricane i would go with the 1/2 for the lug nuts the 3/8 is not powerful enough. 3/8 is for small fasteners that the 1/2 cant get too, they both have a variable trigger
I have the DeWALT DFC899, and the forward/reverse switch is the exact same way.
+David Derfus im not the biggest fan of the switch on my tool but it gets the job done
I see the product lists 1200 ftlbs removal torque. What is the installation torque?
Nice video short and sweet
Thanks for the review. What is the torque value on the crankshaft bold. I need to remove same bolt on a Jaguar 270Lbs.
+Enrique Claure i believe its 140-150 ft but the tool is more than capable, if you don't have the money what you can do to remove the bolt is bump the starter, look up how to do this. get a decent breaker bar, Do not use a rachet it will break.
I just purchased the tool from HF. Actual torque is 148lbs plus 270 degrees so it should have no problem moving the the bolt. Thanks again.
THANKS . 1/2 AND 3/4 ARE THE BEST IMPACT $239
I just bought it .reverse switch is very responsive on mine unlike in the video.maybe they corrected it.always torque the axle nut to the specs or say good bye to the bearings soon
Great video I already own one of this impact excellent tool, but I have a question I know that this gun have a 1200 lb. torque breaking away but what is the torque tightening a bolt or a nut. There is no information about this in the manual. Do you know?
+Alan Peyno thank you for watching and unfortunately I was not able to find that information anywhere.
I've never seen anyone tighten lugs like that. 😄
i was expecting a clunk and 2 pieces ✌️
Curious battery back color when fully charged?
I love it
awesome video. thanks for sharing. def like butter breaking
+Jonathan Torres thank you for watching!
Hi there this is a noob question, but the crank bolts are not reverse threads right? They must be loosened counterclockwise.. .
What is the lb. ft. of torque when you use the Earthquake to tighten lug bolts? I'm asking because you say it will remove bolts tighten to 1200 ft. lbs.
good review, I think Im buying one to replace my craftsman.
jony joe thank you i appreciate it, i have not had any issues with it.
i love it bro
How about the crankshaft bolt of a 1994 Toyota celica?
Anyone know how long they are on back order for? I just ordered mine monday
Wow, I'm impressed. It would be 1000x better tool if they put a torque ring on it so that you can select the torque and drive in nuts to that torque. Pretty impressed though.
Damn let’s see something other than people removing fucking lug nuts!!!! Lug nuts aren’t as tight as people think especially when properly torqued. You want to show it’s power, remove a Honda 19mm crank bolt or rusted suspension 21mm or bigger
Did you watch the video? He loosened a crank bolt
pedro baeza he saying a Honda crank bolt because they make a special hex holding tool so you can use a breaker bar to remove it. Even with a breaker bar I used a cheater pipe on it to break mine loose on 2 of my Hondas. Them babies are TIGHT. That being said so.eone here said they did use it on their Honda crank bolt. If this tool holds up long term I will get it, can't beat it for the price.
Wendell Greenidge totally
I’m curious as to how this tool has held up since then. I’d love to get my grandfather one, but only if they last! I currently have the Fuel High-Torque and love it. But that would be a rather expensive gift. 😂
Clinton Hutson i havent had any issues with it so far.
ERICSDIYGARAGE thanks for the update! That’s great to know! I love that Harbor Freight is coming out with higher quality, yet affordable power tools!
What socket set did u use...i have a 3/8 impact made my earthquake...
I really wish they would make a silicone or rubber protector for these.
Lugs are the least of your worries...i have an ir cordless and it pulls head bolts with almost dead batteries...im pretty sure the have the ingersoll guys doing the design on these and when my ir decides to crap out this is what I will use to replace it with
Quick tip, when using a torque wrench keep your hand on the handle. Don't put one of your hands on the middle of the wrench as this changes the amount of torque you are using.
Always use two hands when trying to loosen something real tight with an impact gun to minimize loss of power from hopping on the bolt head.
thanks for the tip
Nice work boots bro😎
Got one for Christmas, works beautifully. Loosens the tightest nuts and bolts
Anyone know if theirs a Milwaukee battery adapter available yet?
Next time when you torque retire push down not up here in a bust your lip one day
And blow out his back
And correct way to torque is to place force on furthest end of the handle. Not the middle.
So how many lbs of torque it has when tightening?
Man is that thing made by highpoint lol
tiger1945 lol!
Lololol
If yk yk 🤷🏻♂️😂
Hahahaha!
Explain
Just bought mine tonight, will see if it will brake away my Honda Pilot 2010 crankshaft bolt!!!
The tool has been great so far no regrets!
ERICSDIYGARAGE happy 😊 camper here! It broke loose my Honda Pilot crankshaft bolt today on second attempt 😁👍👊!!!
Great news! its honda approved lol
Wow if this tool can brake loose a honda crank nut its invincible
I made another video trying to remove a 17mm honda crankshaft bolt at the salvage yard but I didn't have the same results as lebron jordan
How is the battery?? Last long?
Damn! Make a test rig for your torquefest and don't risk a wheel to over torque! I have the big boy DeWalt and no HF in Canada to get the EQ and do a shootout! With the DeWalt, I tighten lug nuts with torque sticks and finish with a torque wrench...usually 1~2 ft/lbs low with the sticks and not a big deal to correct.
So here it is almost 3 years later March 2020, are you still pleased with this tool? I'm looking at this in 3/4 inch drive, center lock nut on my 2006 Dodge dually front axle shaft.
yes tool still works great 👌
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE Thank You for the reply I have a coupon from HF expiring 4-30-2020 $229 for 1/2" Earthquake 20V Li_Ion batt Impact Happy Easter to me :) I'd like the 3/4" to go on sale, but looks like the 1/2" will handle most of what I would need any given day.
Another question they have for same price 2" extended anvil, you see any advantage for that over short anvil and impact extension if one would need a little more clearance?
Tim
The 1/2 impact is more than enough, when you upgrade to the 3/4 the sockets are usually twice as expensive so it might not be the best choice
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE Excellent point I have full set of 1/2" drive 6 Pt impact sockets, and I really don't do enuff HD work to warrant retooling to 3/4" impact, if this impact plus the standard 3/4" drive non impact socket set I have ain't enuff to "Git_R_Done" then it is time to break out the "hot-wrench" :)
Easy question so does it still work today? Cool review in stuck in between a kobolt and this earthquake.
yes still works great 👍
THANKS
I think it would be easier to torque the lug nuts if you go down with the torque wrench
I used this to install a flywheel which is supposed to be torqued 76ft lbs. But I couldn't keep the crank from turning while using torque wrench. So I just used this impact. Do you think it'll be tight enough, also i used loctite.
it would probably be fine, the bolt tighteneds as the engine runs from what i was told
ERICSDIYGARAGE thanks, i literally just bought it for this job. So i have no prior experince with it.
just a heads up, since distance is part of the equation to figure torque, torque wrenches are calibrated and only accurate when you are holding by the handle.
John B yea imma call BS
Lucas Gorski it's not BS, if you do a quick UA-cam search you will find demonstrations showing how serious have position is when using a torque wrench. Results can vary wildly if hand position is not in the intended "grip" area.
Yes and no. The output of torque at the point in time when the click mechanism trips cannot be influenced by handle length. You could put a 3ft pipe on the end of the torque wrench it would not change the point at which the click mechanism trips. It will only affect how easy it is for you to reach that point.
Handle length will affect torque where there is no scale or click mech to reference. Like when using a breaker bar.
It's simple to prove this. I've done it on a calibration bench. YES holding the torque wrench in the wrong place changes the torque. The same wrench can click in 5 different ranges depending on where the handle is gripped. Always apply your force at the actual wrench grip.
How long does the battery last?
