I was on JV that year in Post, Tx. but our varsity team played Daingerfield in the semi finals just before they beat Sweeny in the finals. The games were almost identical. 28-0 at halftime and 42-0 final. We had convincingly beat a very strong team called Ballinger the week before in the quarter finals. We had a damn good team. Nobody had heard anything about Daingerfield. Right before we played them we saw some blow out scores of their latest opponents but still we didn't think we could be beat. Of course we DID get beat, and to get beat so convincingly was shocking. Yeah that 83' Daingerfield team was that good folks. They could not be beat. They couldn't even be moved. They could've won state in 4A convincingly without a doubt. In fact I don't know that the 5A state title winner would've been safe from these boys. The 83' Daingerfield team was that good. Believe it.
1983 was my junior year at Frenship. Y'all (Post) beat us 26 - 0 in first round of playoffs. I did not think anyone could stop Milton Williams (Post tailback). The score could have been much worse than 26 - 0. I can only imagine how good Daingerfield was to beat y'all 42 - 0. And what a game we had against y'all in '84 at home for the 3-3A district championship! Very proud to have been a part of that game!
I was 3 years old living in Sweeny TX when this happened but I graduated from Whitesboro TX and Whitesboro went 100yrs without making the football playoffs, youtube it
@@mikewood1650 We had a stout team in 83' and I think we could have beaten anyone in the state that year other than Daingerfield. They were just unstoppable. And yeah Milton Williams was a badass for sure, but against Daingerfield it was another story. They had a defense that could not be moved, period. It was crazy. Frenship huh? Cool. I went to 6th grade there and part of 7th grade.
My dads entire family is from Dangerfield. The Tigers are the only school in Texas to win a state championship in 3 different division being 2A, 3A & 4A. My dad and uncles were class of 83 & 85. Tigers are in the 5th round right now still goin strong. 💪🏽💙 12/3/23

oh wow i cant believe this is still around I was the center for the tigers, we had a lot of fun and it was a great way to end highschool and we did it our way, just ask any of the seniors on the team?
I was there too. Best team I have ever seen and my dad said it was the best team he had ever seen. Those guys at 1:20 weren't wrong by much. It was 42-0...and it was COLD.
Best 3A team in the history of Texas high school football? I can go for that. Best team all classes? Know your Texas high school football history. The 1927 Waco Tigers. Hell, maybe even the '22 Tigers too.
They were in my district in football. We played them every year of my high school career. 2008-2011 Queen City

@@tieuellegacy sad how far off that district is from being competitive these days
@@HTXREP They have some highs here and there. Aldine Davis has done fairly well at least in basketball.
