I liked this even before I saw the video. Cant wait to see the end result. I was surprised the whole thing flew off the machine knocking into the camera. Boy what away to wake up! It was fun being in the workshop! Cant wait til Friday to see the finished product!
Wow those reds really look cool when you mix them! Wow it sure looks cool when you take it out of the pressure pot! I really like the colours when it's spinning too! Whattttttttttttttttt???????
Doug, guess we'll have to wait till next week to see how this turns out. By the way, the Flame box elder burl bowl, I own that. Bought it from you 4 years ago. 👍
I can’t wait to see how it turns out! That red looks like it’s going to be amazing. I hope it comes out of the pressure pot just the way you want it to.
@The Pohl Barn Productions Is always liked it. Started watching you when Stranger Things was in and I think your music will always make me think of that.
If you want to try something for that rotten, punky wood? If you mix fast set(or regular set)resin, then heat it up a touch, then pour in a decent amount of acetone, mix good, then brush it in.sets hard and fast.it really works!
@@PohlBarnProductions I worked in healthcare for half of my life. It kinda ruined me in that way. Lol I don’t work in healthcare anymore but my mind is still that way I guess. 😂
I would have put vacum on it first for a little while, than changed to pressure to get it to dig in deeper. But I really hope it works out with just pressure... Keep up the good work! 😉😄
Looking forward to seeing how this episode turns out. 😀 Would stabilizing the wood in Cactus Juice have worked for this? I've done that with some punky mesquite, but my mesquite wasn't nearly as punky as this box elder looks.
May I suggest that the next time you work with rotted wood, you mix the resin 50/50 with acetone to ensure the resin infuses throughout the rotted sections so this doesn't (or at least shouldn't) happen again... Using a vacuum instead of pressure should also help force the resin into the punky/rotten wood...
Vacuum just causes more air bubbles when I use it, you didn't wait to see if I wanted that suggestion, and I considered doing that but I had penetrating resin
Had to go back and watch the first half. Got some wood out back I need to go look at and see what's rotted and what's not. Hoping to avoid some of this stuff if possible lol.
I was thinking when your piece is stuck in a bowl like in this video, why not drill a small hole in the bottom center of the bowl to blow air in? In theory it should pop the piece out. You can reuse the bowl by putting a piece of tape over the hole.
Looking forward to part 2 and seeing how it turns (no pun intended) out! The wood lloked like a candidate for stabilization (Cactus Juice or similar) and I wondered if you considered doing that. If you did, why did you choose not to?
I almost gave thumbs down because of the cliffhanger. But, I will wait impatiently for next week. Can't wait to see what kind of rabbit you pull out of this hat...
Doug...when you poured the 700 ML clear resin in and said the pressure pot would hopefully pull that in...how would a vacuum chamber have been different?
Thank You Mike, well not for me anyways, I have to purchase the Cactus Juice, and not the resin, either way you'd be turning it away and throwing it on the floor. I suppose it just a matter of time after that, which one is faster, we're about to find out.
yeah that stuff works sometimes and other times it doesn't, I just don't have anything to cook it in that large, and the nasty vapors that come off of it cover everything so my oven in the house is out of the question
I threw all of my dogs off my lap and went out to yell at them. They were all in the house. Resumed the video and son of a gun if they weren’t barking. You know how they say “third times the charm”? The dawn finally broke. I’m calling it my DUH moment for today. Thought you might enjoy my little tale. I miss my mind!
Love what you do. However resin is expensive, you’ve just put another $20 worth in. I wouldn’t get it back when selling the bowl. Thanks for sharing. I like watching you work though. Maybe you should have stabilised wood before putting in resin. Would have been a cheaper result.
Thank You Greg, you have to keep in mind that Totalboat sponsors my channel, you do things how you do things and I'll do them they way I do them, you can bet if it was coming out of my pocket I would have done it differently, but it's not, my channel is about the end result and how I got there, it's sad sometime that people only focus on what they think is bad, instead of the final piece
Ooh cliffhanger! Hope the resin works for you, Doug! Looks like it will be a fun project!!!
❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank You Samantha
Looking forward to the part 2. I hope the penetrating resin works well because this looks like it's gonna be really awesome.
