- Cessna 177RG Cardinal C-GQTF is seen taxiing and taking off from CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. This great looking general aviation aircraft was a fun one to spot, and the red livery suits this Cessna 177 Cardinal very well! Love seeing the landing gear in action on the Cessna Retractable Gear models.

Yes, it was a very windy morning. This is actually the same day a Cessna 180 crashed off the runway and into a parking lot across the road from the runway.
watching the gear retraction on such a small airplane is so satisfying!!
swissaviation the Cessna gear always looks like it's falling off the airplane. Got my complex and high performance endorsements in a 177RG with a 205 HP engine. Fun airplane.
It's also about a bazillion pump on the tiny pump handle to get them down manually!
I agree, love the strange design of the Cessna retractable gear.
@swissaviation - I always thought high wing RG Cessna's looked like they'd been shot in the arse when the gear retraction process starts! ;-)

Cardinals are neat little planes, my favourite feature is their strange retractible landing gear.
I agree, the Cessna retractable gear is always fun to see in action. It looks quite strange when it's being retracted or deployed.
Thanks for all the great comments! I was the pilot that day, the white thing flashing in the cabin before takeoff was us trying to get a bug that flew in with a chart🙂

Very nice catch. So easy to get into and out of, without those wing struts. The gear looks funny as it retracts, and some give it a bad rap, but it’s as reliable as most other retractables.

*Actually, this cessna plane is rare, the lack of the bars that suggest the wings make the difference. I personally prefer a cessna with the wing bars, it gives me a feeling of more security. very good for the video. Angel.*

I had been a fan of this model prior to the Jessica Dubroff incident, and they always remind me of get-there-itis. That situation really made me angry.
I remember reading about that incident. It sounds very irresponsible letting someone that young fly on their own. Very strange.

@@TheHDAviation Retired pilot here with over 33k hrs. Kinda confusing seeing the 40 knot windsock showing about 5-10 knots of crosswind and the pilot not even turning the ailerons into the wind.
The livery does suit the Cardinal very Canadian livery.

Ya, it was a really bumpy day to fly. This same morning, a Cessna 180 got blown off the runway while they were attempting to land and got severely damaged.
