- Coilovers can be a pricey purchase for your car, the last thing you want is for them to get destroyed. Today, we install some coilover sleeves to help protect them against the elements, especially here in Wisconsin.

What do you think some of the best modifications are for a daily driver?
Tint and wheels for me. Nothing crazy but not driving around in a fish bowl and setting your car apart from all the other NPC's on the road makes me feel good
@@swerb4530 this is actually the first car I’ve had tint installed on, and I can’t believe I haven’t done it sooner!
@@akagels fishbowl ftw!! Remove it lol
@@ramonbriones4487 don’t worry the RX8 is still full fishbowl 😂
Good and regular oil changes. LOL
I have never bought covers in my life and I don't know why. I'm getting some asap. Please add an update in some video to see how they're holding up and what the coils look like after a few thousand miles!
Will do! I think I'll do an update in a year to see how everything has held up!
-What are your favorite and least favorite mods and why?
-What are your preferred brands for various parts and why?
-Some more detailed stories of your favorite moments in the car community.
-funny videos about different car community stereotypes.
-your horror stories and lessons learned.
-you could do polls in the comments about an upcoming topic and then react to the results and give your own opinion.
Hope that’s more helpful than is obvious but honestly man I wanna see you make videos about things your passionate about! I think as a viewer community we are glad you’ve stepped out to pursuit being genuine. Whatever that means to you, do that. Can’t wait to see and I wish you all the best!
Definitely want to see you collab with Alex and Dakota! Also content on where you source parts from 🤔
Personally I tend to drift away from channels as the person becomes rich and just goes bananas on every build. I relate to videos like this much more. I'd say don't be afraid to have more chill videos like this.
German auto tech here, always love some BMW content!
Also i would recommend torquing that oil filter cap down. BMW recommends torquing it to 25 Nm so no oil has a chance to leak out. All you really need is one of those wrenches that fits on a socket. Tbh idk how true it is but I do it on mine as a safety precaution. Up to u tho
Good call! I did tighten it down with an oil filter wrench right after that clip.
Seen some guy in NY city take his off last year and they looked brand new, these are definitely a great purchase if u live in salty climates.
One of the reasons as to why I wanted to get these! Salt is nasty
“Someone get my a rag… I’m the only one here…oh god” 😂😂😂
Luckily I have a beater car. Didn't expect to put the BRZ away so soon this year but they are going crazy with the salt already
good video, helpful for us northerners especially new to the scene!
Using blinker was a nice touch😂
Hands-on stuff is great. Informational content is nice too. Maybe go over different auto related topics-Wash & talk style?
That was cool seeing footage of the crew getting together, cheers 🥂.
Can't wait to see more man! Already up to 7.1k!
Wow 🤯 something I’ve definitely seen before.. BUT not ever took into consideration! Certainly a small but worthwhile addition. Can’t wait for more content!
Hey Gels! Glad to see you doing your thing. I'd love to see you continue to build these cars and show the parts you install, explain why you chose it versus competition, and educate on it's function and purpose. Love that type of content, the more educated the better is my Philosophy. Also, gotta love car culture/event type stuff. Looking forward to it!
So hyped to see more content from you 🥳
love the video, keep it up!
That’s awesome you did a winter car care video. A majority of UA-camrs don’t have to deal with winter and don’t address the subject.
You should do more winter car care stuff. I just installed OEM splash guards on my daily, a ‘17 Camry. The road salt/brine in the winter sucks and it’s hard to keep our cars clean.
Keep up the good work!
Great video quality ❤
This New Gels guy is going to go far
I can't wait to see whats more on your channel Gels! Lets gooo!
I liked that you used your blinker 😅
Really gotta emphasize that 😅
Love the vlog man, keep up with the grind & passion 💪🏼💯
May I suggest next time you spray coilovers with fluid film before you wrap. Wd40 expels water but also flashes off over time.
Great vid! Keep it up!
No matter the content it's just good to see you on the platform and growing quick
id like to see some driving, casual driving in the beemer or some slides in the 240. but whatever you do id still be watching ^^
We’re here for the journey, brother!
just this is great no hype beast just good chill videos of car
Loving the content already! I was wondering if it was worth it to get the covers or not. Seem pretty worth it honestly
Thank you! For me it was worth the $50 to save me from busting my knuckles in the future 😅
We definitely need a Dakota colab
Great video! Thanks for the plug!
Let me know if I can help you out in any way brother! You’ve got my number! 👊🏼
IM super excited!
As am I!
u got my support and sub! Lookin forward to more content
Thank you! More stuff coming very soon
RX8 to RX8 owner love ya man ✌️✊✌️
9:45 wait, is that a special edition BMW?? I've never seen that feature before
I would add Dakota and Alex to your featured channels❤
I wonna se waht ever you want to post, thats the most importent, aslongs as you would like to make a video of it. But everything from maintenance and project biulds to just daily ramping about how and what your during, as long your passion is in the video. :)
Dude we have 2 of the same cars! I also have a ‘11 328i and an S13
Let's go! I have a full breakdown of the 240 coming very soon
A bmw driver that uses his turn signal 😮joking aside excellent video brother good edits and very informative keep up the great content your doing great look forward to the future content ❤
Glad you caught that! 😂Thanks again!
@@akagels my channel is usually just Alcyone related content but my best friend that lives with me has a Beamer obsession we all have about 6 bmws ranging from 97 to 07 perhaps I should have a few videos on them his prized possession is his 2003 E46 M3 Emola red
@@akagels and definitely your content is clean, good edits, lighting, good pace, keeps the Audience engaged ( making anything work on UA-cam is extremely difficult like success social media on hard mode lol ) I just want to stress your doing fantastic if you have any doubts put them away and just keep being a king
Not every video will be some crazy super expensive mod that will break the internet. I think most of us understand that. Looking forward to the content you’ll be releasing going forward. Just keep with it and don’t give up.
I appreciate that! Thank you.
This is why euro cars are a pain to work on lol the metrics they use to take something so simple off is annoying lol , look forward to more content 🎉🎉
get the 8 ready for dgrr!
Can’t wait to see that rx8
It’s only up from here bro🙏🏽
You are the guy from the fitness industry
Can you make a video about stuff that you couldn't necessarily talk about while working for FI? For example, which companies/manufacturers were great to work with and which ones not so much and why.
from 3k subs to 7.6k subs in just 17 hours, damn bro
Niceee!!! What wheel & tire specs do you run? E9X Gang!
SUBBED!!!!! Lesss goooo!
Let's gooo!
LETS GOO GARAGE VLOG!
Yooo a heater in that bad boy, very nice!
Oh sh!t..I love this!
i feel good that I'm not the only one that tends to not want to do maintenance
It’s always “I’ll get to it next weekend”
@@akagels ya no kidding I need to fix my fogs they just stoped working for no reason
Let's go!
Do you think these would work on bagged struts? I think I really need to protect them in northern Italy
I don't think these ones specifically would, they were a pretty tight fit around the spring. I'm sure someone out there might make something though!
🌮 🌮 more vids on the daily!
GELS!
Hey Gels, you should do a collaboration with Dakotas UA-cam channel too.
Already in the works!
7K subs as of upload!
Good Video! I have a NA Miata, wanting to get some coils on it soon. Was going to go with Tein Flex Z. Thoughts on them?
Had Tein Flex Z on my FRS for a few years and absolutely loved them!
@@akagels Sweet thanks!
Anything to support the progress I’m down to the ride
Basically all I got to do to my car my first year owning it was maintenance lol.
That’s the responsible way to do it honestly lol
I didn’t know he had an E90!?! ❤
I personally like videos with mods being done but I’m sure your audience are gonna want videos like your earlier work from fitment when you where still enthuse and excited
Would using something a little thicker like fluid film or even a grease (if you dont mind getting a tad messy) work just fine as well?
I don’t see why not! WD-40 is what I had on hand
So question... have you run these in the past and if so, do you have any issues with salt and water getting inside and accumulating inside the sleeve, or do they do a good job keeping the salt and water out completely? Assuming the latter is true, Is there any reason why you couldn't run these year round if you wanted to?
Chicago-area here, so we have pretty much the same crap going on in the winter as you guys. Rust from years of winter-salt-abuse has left it's mark on my S13 which I daily drove for probably a decade or more and attempting to fix and eradicate it has been a painful process that's still ongoing... rust has become my arch-nemesis.
PS: If you really cared about the health and comfort of your coils, you would spring (ha ha get it?) for a set of down sleeves...
This is my first time running these but have wanted to get a set for a long time. The material they are made of repel water really well so they don't hold any moisture. I'll definitely do a update video on these to see how well they worked!
Ur oil filter is missing the plastic part bro
Do those work? I have a 330xi in New Jersey and it snows a ton here too. I’ve heard that it traps moisture inside sometimes?
These ones specifically say that they do not hold moisture, but guess we will find out!
Hell yeahhhh
Fucking putting the G in Gels!
What do you think of maxpeedingrods coilover? I know they cheap but I just wanna be low
Tried to do a video on them. The quality control was so bad that I couldn't even get them installed on my car the right way. My honest suggestion would be to save just a bit more and try to snag some Tein Flex Z coils
@@akagelsthank you. I'm wanting to lower my 94 accord and not many companies make coilovers for that gen accords.
Is it advisable to remove my helper springs in my coilovers ?? And how will the drive be afterwards?
I wouldn't advise doing that. Usually they are added to provide help with damping and spring rate.
@@akagels thank you bro 🤝
So my Sc300 doesn’t ever see snow anymore. Would getting these sleeves be worth it for my Bc coilovers? They are brand new and not even installed yet.
It's truly up to you. I had coilovers on my FRS for years when I had it and never had covers and they were just fine. I also only drove the car in the summer.
@@akagels Roger that bro. With the car never seeing snow anymore I can probably skip the sleeves
Me struggling to find coilovers for my 87 El Camino
Oof, yeah that's a tough one. I wonder if anything would transfer over well from another car or something newer?
@@akagels maybe if fiment has stuff for a 80s monte Carlo
Onwards and upwards…
Love you papa
🖤
I didn’t want to be like #70 but I had to like the video 😂
😂
Why delete the old content man?
let's gooooooooooooooooo

so they all split up to make the same types of videos they were making on fx on seprate channels? okay i guess lmao
Coilover sleeves? What a stupid waste of money.
I guess we will find out
