Thank you for your honesty. It's important for people to know that puppies can be like babies and require a lot of work and attention. Anyone who wants a pug, your local area probably has a pug rescue with adult dogs waiting for a loving home.

I had a pug in the past. She was a wonderful companion for 16 years. My last dog (a French Mastiff) passed away this Monday and watching your videos helped distract me during this horribly sad time. So thank you very much.
I'm getting a pug tomorrow. We have never lived without pets and the house is terribly empty. And I know that the baby pug will be wonderful to love and cuddle and play and make a great mess of everything which is exactly what I need to overcome the sadness. Cheers to the four of you and the best from Argentina.

Our pug was absolutely crazy when she was a puppy, she was always pulling your socks when you were wearing then and biting your feet and everything, and she was tearing holes in furniture and stuff, but that lasted about 3-4 months and after that she has become such a lovely, well natured dog and she wouldn't hurt a fly. I'm sure winston will do the same 👍

SOOOOO sorry you are having a rough patch Karl and Chelsey! I was hoping that Chelsey wouldn't get sick, but now it's her turn. At least you had the time off, such that it was but having a new puppy is exhausting, I'm sure and probably have forgotten just a little bit what it was like when Pablo was a puppy....However, they are both adorable, and I have no doubt that Winston will soon get his act together and by Spring you will all be a little happy family and have gotten used to each other. Wishing you all the luck and more sleep!!! Love you guys!

Got my pug few weeks back, her name is Sapphire. She’s 18 months old and before she came here she was in a breeding farm and she already had puppies! (I think that’s cruel shouldn’t force dogs to have puppies at such a young age and being trapped in a cage...) The lady we got her from was giving her away for free or she will put her down... so me and my mum agreed to take her in our home we didn’t want her to be put down and now Sapphire is so happy, she’s well behaved and very playful! We both love her but 18 months and she isn’t clean so we are training her and she seems to be learning quite quickly.

Couldn't agree with you more! :) You've just had the perfect storm of crap lately and you guys will get through it. As pups, my pug and my Brittany each sounded like Winston while my German Shepherd sounded like Pablo. And my Pug was/still is a big chewer. My Brittany never outgrew needing to chew either, even as an old little man.

I could not stop laughing during this video!!!! You will probably need 6 months before you can see the funny side of it but it is hilarious. You're having a complete nightmare 😂I totally feel your pain and it brought back so many memories for me. Seriously though, you are all great and I am so happy I've found your channel. Hope you are all feeling better soon so you can defend off those very painful foot nibbles!!! (sorry to say that ours lasted at least 6 months!!). Hang on in there and try to enjoy the precious puppy moments because they grow up so fast!!

We’ve been in your exact situation! We got a new pug puppy last June and we already had a one and a half year old pug. Our older pug was an absolute dream as a puppy but the younger one cried every time he was left alone. What worked for us for a Spotify playlist called soothing music for puppies, we left it on repeat for the whole night and he stopped crying completely 😂

But just like every human is different, same with dogs. I’m sure when you feel better, you’ll have enough energy to tucker him out. He’ll probably love fetch if he learns it

My two pugs have complete opposite personalities. One is super active and the other one is super chill.

Know how hard a new puglet can be. When mine was a puppy, I had her on a harness & leash constantly. This enabled me to prevent accidents; when she started to squat I'd give a tug on the leash, scoop her up, & take her outside. I would also take her outside every 2 hours or so, still on the leash so she couldn't walk too far sniffing around forever. (She was potty trained in 3 weeks.)
Indoors was play, play and more play with appropriate toys, to expel that energy. If your pup is nipping your hands, do what mama pug does- give a small "nip" back on the mouth with a gentle quick "pinch" & a firm "no!"
My puglet was hyperactive as well, & didn't realise when she was sleepy. I would have to rock her in my hands, & her eyes would get droopy. I'd always think "Thank God I get a break." Then she'd go into her little crate for a nap.
Idk if you have a little crate, but it's a good idea, acts as a den, which can be calming & make pup feel secure.
You might want to consider puppy kindergarten if they have it where you live. Make sure to neuter as soon as viable to prevent marking behavior later on. If it's super cold where you live, you may want to consider pee pads to use indoors in specific area.
Your puglet will outgrow this phase. Mine did, and was the cutest little rascal. She was still feisty, but no longer drove me crazy. I had her for 17years RIP my angel Idgie. Hope this helps! Btw, used Cesar Milan's book Dog Whisperer it was and is my bible! All the best! 😀

I 100% agree with the "lead" advice! I had a cavalier who wasn't housebroken yet at 18 months. I was at the very end of my rope. I had tried every possible method to no avail. I called a vet school and they told me to "tether" her to me 24/7 until she was trained. I truthfully didn't have any faith. But a week and a half later she was housebroken! And Caesar Milan is a miracle worker! Didn't know about him 13 years ago tho!

@@sharonkivisto4515 Yeah, Cesar Milan and the leash are sanity savers. I'd love to have this guys puglet for a few weeks; he'd be potty trained, sleeping on a schedule, and not biting. I love a challenge, but they're on the other side of the pond so guess that's not feasible, Lol.

It made the earlier months less enjoyable due to how exhausting it was :( He’s still very energetic at 1 year but he’s much better now and no more TEETHING!!! At least we know now that super energetic puggies aren’t often uncommon, haha. I wish you a great journey, it’ll just take a lot of patience.

Karl, so sorry that you and Chelsea are having such a rough time, but thank you for being so honest about it all. You are doing far more good than you know by not trying to hide the very natural problems of family life with pugs. Our first pug, Abby, was very out-going, "never met a stranger", always happy, loved everyone. When we adopted a second pug, Christy, Abby accepted her right away, like a long-lost sister. They got along great! After Abby died, we adopted Sugar because Christy seemed "lost" without Abby, a bit sad. Sugar was six years old but played like a puppy and she wanted Christy to play like a puppy with her. Christy wanted none of that and we had to break up lots of "misunderstandings" - one more heated "misunderstanding" ended in a vet visit that involved a few stitches. It was very hard for a while- days, weeks, months, I don't know, it's all such a blur - BUT they DID bond and we had many years of happiness with them. So hang in there! Treat Winston like Winston and Pablo like Pablo and all will be great....eventually!

I brought my Nugget home on Thursday night. I’ll agree, it’s hard work. She’s my first pug but also my first ever dog I grew up with cats. Man they are hard work. Nugget loves to bite EVERYTHING doesn’t matter how many toys she has. I knew the “accidents” were part n’ parcel of it all. I watched your videos to prepare for her coming home and it’s actually thanks to your videos that I was more prepared than I could’ve ever imagined. Nuggets settling home and everyone’s adjusting to the idea of being pug owners. We don’t regret a thing.

Aww, Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I’m a pug daddy to 3 wonderful pug boys, my first pug ‘Sheldon’ was a complete nightmare for the first year, he was so naughty, but after one year he just changed overnight into the sweetest, quiet snuggle pug who just wants to cuddle up all day. You are obviously such good pug parents I wouldn’t tell you how to raise your dogs, but if I could offer one little bit of advise it would be to not compare Winston to Pablo too much, each of my 3 where so different and it sounds like you got a little lucky with Pablo as a puppy, Winston sounds like a normal, cheeky, boisterous pug puppy, stick with it and I’m sure they will bond, Winston will calm down and you will have a lovely family. Take care and get well soon.

It's really like kids in alot of ways, they need constant care and you can't turn your back on them for a min. They are into everything , up all night and tearing stuff up! But I know you guys will get through it, frustrations and all. Like everything, in time it will get better. Little Winston like you said, just has a different personality. That's the way kids are too. He's keeping you guys hopping for now which is tough because you guys are sick and the weather's awful, but the sun will shine again😊. Things will improve in all areas! I know how exhausting it is. I fear that little devil will ruin alot of things... Hehe..Little stinker. Pablo will keep bonding in time too, There's a rainbow coming soon!

Ps don’t pay attention to ANY negative comments and if possible block any UA-camrs who leave them. They are not worth a minute of your time. Constructive criticism is good, but down right petty comments are just ridiculous. I take toys off my dogs all the time when they don’t share. They are still the most spoilt dogs on the planet. Winston and Pablo have the most amazing parents who love them to the moon and back I really don’t think taking toys off them is going to effect their well being or mental health! The general rule of thumb is puppies can hold themselves for as many hours as they are months old. So if he's 3 months old, you're going to need to let him out for the bathroom every 3 hours. You must have got lucky with Pablo. Check out the Gone To The Snow Dogs channel. They have a really helpful series on puppies. I hope you both feel better soon x

Pablo and winston are so cute. My mom has a a pug and a great teeething toy is a pacifier. Another way to get them to stop biting you is to cry like their siblings would do if they were getting rough. Instead of saying ouch. If you ever have watched puppies play when they start getting to rough they squeal letting the other puppy know that they are biting to hard. I have done this with my two dogs before and it works. Also if they are biting something that you dont want to u can say no and flick their nose. It doesnt hurt them but it does startle them a bit. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I hope you guys get well soon. I’m sure it is not easy with a puppy every puppy has a different personality and I guess winston is the type of puppy who needs lots of exercise. My pug is also like that and she is already 7 months old and she doesnt stop biting my feet and my hands and she does that really hard.

Ahh Karl, sorry you and Chelsey are unwell. What bad timing x it is hard when you have a second pup, for the first 6 weeks I thought I’d made a big mistake getting another. Then it started getting easier and now a year and a half after getting my second, I can’t imagine life without them. It’s normal how you feel and it WILL get easier xxx stay consistent and be your usual lovely self and you’ll be fine 💖

Oh the puppy days... Some advice for the constant chewing: always have something for him to chew. As soon as he bites your hand or chews on a pillow, stick a chew toy/bone in his mouth. It worked with my puggy when she was a pup. Love the videos! Hope you guys are feeling better soon! Much love from across the pond!

Hey, what a funny puppy Pug. Winston is just as wonderful as Pablo,,Pugs can only enhance and add to our lives. When you can maybe find other puppies for Winston to play with? Just a thought, in order to get the puppy energy out. Good luck, keep looking at his adorable face and say," I am your master" :))

Little piranha-winston! 😂I'm glad you are feeling better and I hope Chelsea feels better soon. It is so tough having a hyper puppy but luckily it's a phase. I have my heart set on a little pug this year and even though I really want one this minute I'm a bit relieved that I only have a lazy indoor cat at the moment. I live in Sweden and we have soooo much snow at the moment and it would be impossible to take a little puppy outside. Not only because of the deep snow but they throw salt on all the paths to get rid of ice and like you said, it's really bad for little paws.

I definitely feel your pain. My pug Atticus just turned 3 a few days ago and when he was a pup he was quite the chewer like Winston. Hands, toes, your face, furniture...basically anything & everything other than his toys. What worked well to help train him was as soon as he'd start chewing we'd tell him no & literally stick one of his toys in his mouth & say this is yours. It took some time but even now at 3 when he decides to revert back to puppyhood all i have to say is that's not yours & he'll stop & go grab one of his toys.

Hang in there, guys! When my pug was a puppy (his name was Winston, too ❤️) I thought the biting would never stop. Someone suggested putting lime juice on my hands but it didn't work, he liked it! 😏 A frozen wet washcloth was soothing for him but he always had a preference for my hands. Eventually he moved past that phase and was better than I could have imagined he would be. Love and good health to the four of you, you'll get through this!

You are so young to be doing all this. Hats off to you both. Have you decided to have children?
This will make things Much worse on a bigger scale!
I told you in my previous comments about the arrival of my sister arriving when I was 3. I was a delight and then along came a gremlin.
You have enough on your plates....don't get any more animals or have any kids you will have a nervous breakdown!
You are an excellent daddy to them. Keep up the great work.
Pablo is a beautiful looking dog!
    So well behaved.
Although when you were talking about NOT taking Winston out because it is cold. I can hear Pablos thoughts "I WILL GLADLY TAKE HIM OUT IN THE COLD"
    you then mentioned an injection.
Pablo was thinking "YES A LETHAL ONE"
When you mentioned the park Pablo perked up. Then you said about Winston not being able to go Pablos face said.....GOOD. LEAVE HIM HERE!
I hope my daft comments make you smile. You are doing great.
    It will get better!

Kids will be a further down the line ... much further down the line! haha! Dogs are enough for us at the moment, I don't think we could cope with them and a child. Your comments have been great, loved the story about your sister and the piggy banks! I was the second child in our house but I was very quiet and just got on with things and my sister was the screamer who demanded everything! (must be a sister thing) I remember she collected a full 101 Dalmatian set and we spent ages as a family searching for the last ones in shops, but I wasn't allowed to buy any more Pokemon stickers to try finish my album (only had about 5 more to collect!) .. Families eh! haha!

My first pug puppy was exactly like Winston. For the first week I had him I barely had 2 hours of sleep then had to go to work and do the cycle all over again. I think it was around the 6 month mark that I got more than 4 hours of sleep. Baby is now about 10 months old and he's perfect except he loves to bite my feet and my clothes. Hopefully he'll become more like Pablo as he gets older! Love seeing these update videos of Pablo and Winston together!

I feel your pain. When we got our pug- Abigail- she was inconsolable, she was fussy, and she didn't sleep through the night. I didn't sleep for more than an hour at a time during her first month because she had tummy troubles and needed to go outside almost every hour. It was like having a baby. Also, she was a biter. She ripped holes in all my clothes and was constantly making my hands bleed. There were nights when she wouldn't go to sleep, so I would have to sit in the yard while she ran around. Luckily it was summer. It does get better, but it's so hard initially.

Sounds like you may have had mono. Keep that strong autoimmune kick going! Winston is certainly a rascal! Yours is a lesson for those considering getting a pup. It takes as much attention as a human baby! And like a human baby, their temperament will differ between one pup and the other. You just can’t predict it and have to be ready for some worst case scenarios.
Some people would have returned Winston! Probably a lot of folks would. He’s high maintenance for sure. Bless you guys and wishing you luck as things progress! 🤗

We just had a pug puppy as well, our first ever puppy. We got him at 2 months old (he is 4 months old now) and I totally relate to what you're saying. Constantly wants attention, always crying when the door is closed, crying at night, always bitting everything, chewing the furniture, our clothes, the cushions, peeing and pooping at night (I was waking up every 2-3 hours the first month, so tiring)! Now he is getting calmer, thank God, but often still crying when left alone... ! Hope it'll pass because they are so cute but it's veryyy demanding!!!

Karl, I'm glad to see that you are feeling a bit better. I can definitely understand and sympathize with you for the frustrating weeks that this must have been having Winston come home and being a stick as you were and thinking that Pablo and Winston will going to be the best of friends right from the start. Just hold on, this too will pass and soon enough you'll look back on this week and laugh about it and what seems like a nightmare right now will actually turn into happy memories. You and Chelsea are doing a great job as parents. I believe in both of you. Take care and please tell Chelsea I hope she feels better quickly.

We were very lucky with beans sleeping at night as he was crate trained with
a pen enclosure and he had a puppy pee pad at the end so he could come out of his bed and pee at night we found that this worked for us so we got our sleep as had work .Your doing a great job it's hard work it's a bit like having 2 kids there never the same .love the videos and I love that you say it as it is and not make out that it's all sugar and sweet .puppies can be hard work Winston is a bundle of hectic loveliness reminds me of Mr bean who is now asleep and is completely different dog from when he was a puppy so much carmer thank god lol x

Totally understand, been through the puppy faze, I raised Bentley alone so when I was sick it was hard but you do what you have to. Not easy being a pet parent, hang in there, they grow up fast eventually you'll have stability. A tip I used dish soap to clean up puppy pees on the carpet, it came out great, no smell left either.
