It is on a memory stick but none of the key words would take me to that part. Spring, tension, adjust, none of them showed it to me, but your video made it clear what I was dealing with. I could see the spring but wasn't sure if I was going to have a disaster if I adjusted it. It is rusty. and I needed to release the tension so I could put the belt back on. Your video showed me it is a simple thing. Thanks. Over the last six years I have slowly acquired seven 200 series garden tractors so I need to know all the little tricks in order to get them serviceable.
Thanks Mike, I am 70 and been running some 1970's Sears and Cub Cadets, and Roper, and Bolens.... Just got a 214 JD ... it will be about my 14th tractor..... gonna see how it does.... I just love the Tractors with the Cast Iron Kohlers 12, 14, & 16 ... Good video, I learned a lot..... PS I wear Steel Toe boots most of the time around my little mowers and tractors.... haha...
When you made this you may not have realized some 55 year old guy who just got his first used John Deere 216 (in great shape but it came with a snow blower on it but deck was off.) would watch it and think your the greatest for making it lol You saved me alot of trouble.. great video ty! Wow great video I have a 212 with snow plow came with no mower so I bought 2 different cars mower and they told me it don’t fit. BUT I didn’t have the mount front plate and the other belt that was loose. Wow maybe it does fit so I will try it myself after buying front thing
I really like them all. I used 2 like the wood ones but they pinch your hands when they start to get want out. Probably the John deere ones are the best

It's the pulley break that's supposed to slow the pulley down when you turn off the pto. You need to go up in from the bottom with a fairly long extension on a ratchet and it's either a 1/2 or a 9/16 socket you need.
I just recently was given a 1981 212 not running, the question i have is I cant get it to go in neutral, in turn in won't roll when pushing it. Where should I start with solving this issue. Thankyou in advance
Do you mean you can't find neutral like the shifter Fork is out of place or it's in gear and you physically can't make it come out? Also another simple thing that I have seen is people lock the break and don't know how to unlock it

I always mow bare foot have been for years as long as you're not dumb enough to stick your feet under the mower you're going to be fine and shoes aren't gonna protect you anyway if you stick your feet under the mower
I have a 216 that came with a deck with no blades and am not sure of the size it has the Serial number is *M00673X 488720*. Can't find the deck using the number at JD web site. Any ideas what size it is ?

I do not but you'll have to buy a John Deere brand one so just go into your dealer and ask for belt and have your show number

@@mikestarcher it will shift thru the gears.. the rear wheel seems to be frozen . Like maybe a rusted on brake
