I had a 210 that i only used for plowing snow for years. Loved it. Then sold it when I came across a great deal. A 212 with hydro lift and the following attachments: Snow blade, rear tiller with both sides extended, snow blower, mid mount grader blade, sleeve hitch, rear mount box blade, wheel weights and a set of turf tires and ag tires all fir $1600. Its been great. Since then i have acquired a Brinley plow and a 540 front mount pto.

Those old Johnnies are so rugged and easy to work on. They are well worth preserving. They have a frame like a Mack truck, (almost).
A few years ago I started buying up all the old 200's I could find. Some on ebay, some marketplace and some locally sitting in the yard. At least I will have parts if ever the dealers run out. The drive axles are listed as "obsolete" at dealers. A good machine shop could make one for you but at what cost?
Jack up the back end and test if the wheel has free play. Shake it left and right. That will indicate if the hub that fits on the axle is worn. That hub is the wear item, NOT the axle. The hubs are still available at dealers but they are expensive for such a small item.
The axle is much harder than the hub so the hub always goes bad first. I found some on ebay and grabbed them up. If wear is excessive and the tractor is used a lot, it might eventually damage the axle spline as well.
I currently have two of the 210's, three 212, and three of the 214.
I started seeing 314's for sale a year ago so I now have three of those as well. I noticed the 300's turn considerably tighter circle so they are better at trimming around trees. This month I'm going to see if a 314 front axle will fit on a 214. I have a whole front axle from a 314 that was scavenged for parts. I shudder to think the main parts or frame were sent to a junk yard and crushed.
One feature I appreciate is the engines all interchange. You could swap any engine to any tractor. My operational 210 is so strong I would not considerate it an insult to put a 10 hp on a 212, or 214. One by one I plan to have all of them operational before winter arrives.

Why does my 212 mower belt always comes out or wears fast? Is it the electric pto that burns it?

Its controversial but I read somewhere that killing a stink will attract more stink bugs. "What Happens if a Stink Bug Releases Its Scent?
While seemingly innocuous, killing a stink bug can have lingering effects. Not only does the chemical produced by stink bugs smell, but it also releases pheromones that attract other stink bugs. With numerous stink bugs roaming through your home, it’s only a matter of time until you’re stuck with a smelly infestation! "
I don't have a good answer for how to rid these. I currently have a dead one on my dash up against the bottom of the windshield. My fingers are to big. Probably a little stick of sorts.
To your video. I'm impressed with the condition of these tractors that you surprisingly get running in such a short time. Impressive. Thanks for the video. Keep em coming.

What you referred to as piston slap could more than likely be camshaft end play, a common noise in the Kohler K engines.

Very true, with it smoking I still wouldn't sell it as a good running motor.

How much are you asking for the 212 John Deere, as is. Motor isn't an issue. Can rebuild it myself
