I don’t think the debate would go how you think. It would probably go Ben saying his dogma. John comes with the facts and evidence. The comments won’t have the knowledge base to know what’s going on and will be too ignorant to really tell who’s right. They will probably end the debate thinking John is annoying and a know it all. Like with the Mike Israetel vs Greg Doucette debate. Prime example of science and evidence vs bro science in a debate.
@@mjgould1192 I guess it's dependent on the host and the corresponding audience I guess that decides to click on it. Which means Ben has the advantage yea
John, listen to the Old Man and 3 Pod by JJ Reddick. He says he wants to dunk by his 40th birthday. You want your “in” with nba players, offer to train him for free and he’ll get you a whole league 😂 PS: Tell JJ he just needs to jump a quarter as much as Zay 😆
Not super sure what you're asking, but I just meant that Ben's videos (along with PPA) led me to dunk videos, Zay, and ultimately here. I like the criticisms, they're called for and make me chuckle. The people I mentioned are coaches/trainers I like and I think they'd make for good conversation.@@JohnEvans
Yeah I would have to agree with you saying that RSI doesn’t matter for 2 foot jumpers. Case in point my RSI is pretty good but my vertical is just ok 😂
Have you seen the research that shows sprinters could potentially not have the stiffest tendons and how distance runners and sprinters don’t show big differences in tendon stiffness? Also what do you think about DL plyos to SL plyos for 1 foot jumpers? I jump higher off one after doing this progression than the traditional progression. I was thinking maybe it’s because higher eccentric demands, more intensity, and just being more demanding on the ankle and knee extensors. What do you think?
I have. Dan Back posted it recently. It kind of makes sense, I mention it at the 3:57 mark about how stiffer may not be better. But I do think that is somewhat classical just because you're increasing specifcity and I agree. I mean Dan and Boo don't do it but for dunking it helps.
I would love to see a conversation between you two! I’ve benefited from both of you guys but have also suffered from only one of you guys…haha. He would never do it cause he says ya’ll are on the same team trying to help people but performance wise it would be great to hear. Also i wanna know about ya’lls interaction so bad😂😂
But in case of Ja Morant where he did 25 tire pogo jumps after every drill... are those plyos (pogo jumps) similar to his actual jumping? I am kind of confused. Also, do Isaiah rivera and Ja Morant have differences in jumping technique? Isaiah seems like he has more ground contact time than Ja.
They are they are. Ja is absolutely an anamoly though, however him jumping a lot definitely has a lot of value. I think in general that that specific plyo is actually very similar to dunk attempts. He wasn't trying to minimize ground contact time. Just jumping over and over again. But dunking specifically is gonna make him better at dunking for sure.
As a triple jumper what should I prioritize most? High RSI or softer tendons? I’ve always been better at eccentric stuff and absorbing force but not so much sprinting
I'm relatively new to jumping so I'm gonna say not too stiff. Maybe an idea for your next video can be to explain this topic? I've heard so many different things about this.
Ben vs John in a debate is a video I’d die for.
Sadly may never happen😔

@@JohnEvans the content would be incredible, “JJ Series”
this information is awesome thank you john🙏
No problem bro!
I, for one, have been thoroughly enjoying the Ben Patrick shit talk.
Best thing he did for me was throw me down this rabbit hole.
And the real shit I would want to see is talks with Mike Israetel, SquatU, and Sika Strength on athleticism and rehab.
LOLOLOL wait did he mention me recently or something?@@Karaage_

Stiffness may not benefit you if it’s too stiff. Mimic ground times of tj
Daily check inn

Listening to this everyday has increased my vert naturally lol
#1 tip for dunking listen to the pod

john how do u fix a meniscus tear
For cartillage I like to load it every other day in slow strength work.
What shoes do you recommend for jumping higher?
Oooooooh depends how stiff your tendons are?
