as someone who was very influenced by Amy, I can't thank you enough for giving her music a spotlight. Black to black is a beautiful gray of story telling. I would ask to give her first album (Frank) a chance, it was very different to Back to Black but shows her life before "fame" for a lack of a better word. I still can't believe it 10 years without her!
100% agree! Frank was pretty much a straightforward modern jazz album and her vocals were unbelievable. It still haunts me to remember how cruel the press and public were to her in her darkest days. The paparazzi literally camped outside of her apartment and put her on the cover of every tabloid for YEARS looking skeletal, bloodied, crying, completely disheveled, near death and all they could do was ridicule, make jokes and destroy any dignity she had left. I've never seen the world turn on an artist so fast. One day she was being hailed as the greatest new musical artist of her generation, the next she was a grim tabloid punchline. She died a day before my 26th birthday. I was gutted. She deserved so much more than what the world gave her. She was a genius. I absolutely adored her.

Great album and song. If memory serves me right the band playing on this album was from a group called Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings from Brooklyn, NY. Unfortunately Sharon Jones also passed away.
Right from the Gheto Boys to Amy.... Love it! the remix by Ghostface Killah from Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good (from his album More Fish) is nice too
She is so witty and defiant with her lyrics!! I love her ❤ one of my favorite songs - but then again I love all of them. Can you guys do “A Song for You”??
Great choice this is my favorite by her but everything she wrote and sang was gold .Miss her so much but so glad we got to experience her beautiful voice and soul.Rest Easy Amy ❤
You can tell your dad has a bit of range…now we gotta hear the full Billy Paul track from him 😆 Amy was one of a kind talent, I really love her track on Tony Bennett’s “Duets” as well, it really showcased her vocal ability
Back to Black transports me back to such happy times. I’d graduated uni 2 years before and I was living in London. A bunch of my friends from home as well as some friends from uni had all moved there too so we had quite the social network going on. We saw Amy at the Isle of Wight festival in 2007 and I remember exactly where I was the day she died. I’ve never been one to be upset about a ‘celeb’ death but Amy’s hit hard. Her lyrics detailing the trials and tribulations of relationships were just perfection.
There is a performance by Davon Fleming of this song, a performer on the The Voice, that your dad may also enjoy as a comparison! It shows Amy’s influence and the love of her music and artistry by other fans and artists.
Great video please visit more of her work. Dad you have a good voice. Appreciate both your work and this channel❤️. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦✨ Just to add, Nas described his friendship with Amy (in an interview) as kinderd/ or like minded spirits. He said she was funny, and basically the male version of him. He always wanted to meet her, they talked about it but it never came to be.
BTW The "F*****y." part came from Salaam Remi's mum who used to use the word a lot Amy just though it was funny so added it in the song.It reminds me of Fats Domino's Blueberry hill.Frank is a superb album in my view there's songs on Frank that are equally as good as any on Back to black. You sent me flying,In my bed,Stronger than me,I heard love is blind,Take the box are all great songs the lyrics on You sent me flying are superb and Amy often performed these songs brilliantly live. You can go back further than Frank with less quality audio songs like Trilby,When my eyes or Jazz 'n' blues.Prorcrastination and Alcoholic logic are also great songs if you look them up search for the better quality audio versions as quite a few are below par. Also her live cover versions of I still care or I love you more than you'll ever know are worth a view too.Amy and Nas have the same birthdays 14th September and Nas has a daughter called Destiny hence the line in the song "Mr Destiny 9 and 14"
Amy could sing anything so well. I love her. I thought this was going to be the Billy Paul song. But,now its in mind, Sarah Jane Morris did a great cover of Me and Mrs Jones by him.
I saw in an interview with her that this song includes mishaps with her then boyfriend Alex Clare. He was the reason she was late to the Slick Rick gig. They also shared the same birthday September 14th.... Same as Nas as well. Please react to more Amy. Love is a losing game is my top pick. She once performed it on stage with Prince....amazing performance....can be found on here.

You should absolutely check out her album ‘Frank’, which came out before ‘Back to Black’
Great review. I am a huge Nas and Amy fan I had no idea about some of the background of this song. Thank you 🔥
Great album and song. If memory serves me right the band playing on this album was from a group called Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings from Brooklyn, NY. Unfortunately Sharon Jones also passed away.
You couldn't have picked better 👏 Amy was a 💎
Right from the Gheto Boys to Amy.... Love it! the remix by Ghostface Killah from Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good (from his album More Fish) is nice too
I need an episode where your dad flips the script and introduces you to some music 😅🥰 Love from New Zealand!
Coming soon!
Music in its raw yet pure form. Amy is something else. Nas and Amy...among my favorite artists ever.
This record sounds so good on vinyl.
Love & miss Amy! Whatta a voice!
Cherry wine by Nas ft. Amy Winehouse is also a great song 👌
I think that’s beautiful the way you and your father, so I understand your love for all genres of music.
Got her vinyl on my wall to this day 🔥
ME TOOOO
Her voice….🔥
Great reaction! Well need more Amy Winehouse!! She is too talented to not cover more of her songs
You can tell your dad has a bit of range…now we gotta hear the full Billy Paul track from him 😆
Amy was one of a kind talent, I really love her track on Tony Bennett’s “Duets” as well, it really showcased her vocal ability
I have all her records on vinyl and know all of her songs word for word. She’s my favorite artist of all time because she’s timeless
You’ve got good taste. Timeless! Will react to more Amy at some point. Thanks for watching. - Kai’s dad
She was a massive hip hop fan since young and that influence is throughout her albums.
Massive! She was a purist when it came to Hiphop. Also repped UK scene when it was still under the radar, and Grime was taking off.
❤😢 R.I.P to another uk legend love your videos keep it up …. Love from uk 💪🏻
definitely recommend listening to her frank album!!!!!
Noted, thanks - Kai’s dad
There is a couple if Nas and Amy Winehouse collabs I believe. One is called Like Smoke
Nas and Amy had such a synergy.
I've been binging your channel all day, it was very much what I needed
Uh, love IT! She has such a great voice…loved every song on that album
ID LOVE TO SEE DAD INTRODUCING HIS SON TO DADS ERA OF MUSIC.... Kind regards your sincerely nz
I sing this song in a tribute act and wondered what the Slick Rick gig and Ruler were...😊
Back to Black transports me back to such happy times.
You should definitely play Jasmine Sullivan for your dad!
So gorgeous! One of my favorite songs of hers. My Amy❤❤❤❤❤❤💔
I never knew nas and her were friends. Great song choice and trivia.
I hope your dad play the original Mr & Mrs Jones for you I love it 2
Mr. Jones is Nas aka Nasir Jones
Yall gotta do more of these Amy ones!!!💪🏾💯💪🏾
There is a performance by Davon Fleming of this song, a performer on the The Voice, that your dad may also enjoy as a comparison! It shows Amy’s influence and the love of her music and artistry by other fans and artists.
Definitely check out her album Frank
Great video please visit more of her work. Dad you have a good voice. Appreciate both your work and this channel❤️. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦✨
Just to add, Nas described his friendship with Amy (in an interview) as kinderd/ or like minded spirits. He said she was funny, and basically the male version of him. He always wanted to meet her, they talked about it but it never came to be.
Dad! In your list of the new R & B female greats, I think Jill Scott should also come in. You guys check her out.
My fav is Valerie with mark ronson it’s such a good vibe.
Everything Amy Sings is amazing
Happy Birthday Amy 🌹
I love that you research the songs you are going to listen to.
Thanks Amy! Appreciate that, thanks for watching
“Through the Smoke” is another amazing Winehouse song that I feel is so underrated
Amy is great. She’s definitely gone too soon.
Good reaction again.
This is the first time I've heard this song. But it won't be the last. I loved it. She was so good. And she will always be missed ❤💔🎼🎵🇬🇧🇺🇸
10 words in, “I like it already.” Aces to you dad!
Her debut album is amazing you need to take a listen and the rest of her catalog is also tbh I never skip any Amy song they're that good
I love Amy wine house and this album . May for Rest In Peace
Back to Black is a great album, I miss Amy. ❤
Amy said it was one of her favourites to perform live. I like her version at Dingle the only acoustic version she did as far as I know.
I saw in an interview with her that this song includes mishaps with her then boyfriend Alex Clare. He was the reason she was late to the Slick Rick gig. They also shared the same birthday September 14th....
Same as Nas as well. Please react to more Amy. Love is a losing game is my top pick. She once performed it on stage with Prince....amazing performance....can be found on here.
you should listen to her frank album 🥹 she’s unreal and i think you’d both rlly love it
