I've been playing the Oboe for around 6 years (started when I was 10) it's a great instrument to play ☺️ I'm currently trying to teach myself the saxophone but unfortunately I always play the oboe sharp because I'm so used to pushing a huge amount of air through my oboe. 😂 But plus side your lung capacity would be amazing 😂

oh my god that was beautiful, the one in the red dress' high notes were absolutely perfect! i enjoyed seeing the arrangement catering to their talents too, the one in the blue dress played beautiful low notes!!
Eh not so much. They’re good players don’t get me wrong but the one in a red dress. I dislike the tone and the dynamics. The other one has a better tone by far for my taste but the the one on the left isn’t as well in tune and can’t be heard over the sharper shriller sound of the right oboist.

It proved that Oboe is a musical instrument very hard to play and play well. It involves technique of making good reed and the control of sonority, vibrato and Musical phrasing etc. It is a frustrating task as most of the novice can never make a sound with oboe ! However, practising makes thing perfect. Please keep practising !

I'm listening to this on computer speakers, but I don't like the microphone they used to record the oboes. It's harsh on the top end, it has an edge to the sound that makes it sound like a soprano sax. I like an oboe recording that is a bit more mellow, and dark sounding.
Mena Toda it gets better - I remember being there and I’ve been playing for 10 yrs now. I think the first 2-3 are rough 4-6 get better you start fine tuning and 7+ you fully start understanding your horn! Just hang in there and KEEP PRACTICING ! :)

I can’t believe my school has a concert band if 115 and still we have no oboes... but we have bassoons and contrabass clarinets 😂
