How can a country do this knowing the track record of US, that's why I like the Chinese approach of begging, borrowing or stealing. They never compromise on national interest. We need to learn a lot from China.

> Increase defense budget to $100B+ so that there is more demand, thus more business for Gov and private companies.
> More fund allocation to research entities like DRDO.
> Dealing of defense related things on a fast track basis, no babugiri.
> Prioritize domestic defense purchase, unlike Stryker and Tata Whap case
> ToT to Indian companies initially, when more business, more profits and more potential for military bussiness will be there private companies will start doing there own R&D eventually.

Very true. It is really strange haw & why the persons at right places have failed to oversee this issue. It was not a new event. Earlier happened during late 1950's with our first effort to produce Fighter aircraft of our own in the form of that excellent war plane HF 24 Marut.
That time it was Britishers who refused to provide the required thrust engine but later provided very laser powered engine. As a result that wonderful warplane remain under powered through out its carrier. Then also it retired with glory. We at this stage of geopolitical situation can't depend entirely upon a particular country. Not even France alone for engine. We must diversify with a parallel partner at the same time to signal that "don't try to arm twist ,we are having parallel option to develop with.

Stopping Kaveri engine development was the biggest mistake...now paying price
It was the stupidest idea to procure the GE Engines, given the treacherous record of the USA. We should have had an alternative. And we need to rejuvenate the Kaveri Engine programme with full funding.

1. Kaveri should be developed on a war-footing from the office of the PMO down to HAL, with heavy investment and rigid time lines. It would also be worthwhile bringing in the expertise of a few retired engineers who have worked with Rolls Royce or GE engines. 2. To seal an immediate long term partnership with RR for Tejas single engine and AMCA models.

GE 414 engine to tejas mk2, amca, Tedbf me use karna hai.

This is how the US will arm twist India whenever they want. They have enough of the GE 404 engine to supply Korea for their T50 , but they will play a delay card with India only. The deal of GE404 and GE414 will cost India in a long run and it will definitely delay the project of Tejas, Tedbf, Tejas mk2 and AMCA.
Even if we sign local manufacturing of GE414, still for the core components we will have to be dependent on US and they will again play delay game and will push for the sale of F35 to India to sabotage AMCA project.
India seriously needs to look for alternatives. Make Kaveri good enough to generate enough thrust for Tejas. Start working on plans to have EJ 2000 of Royal Royce as a substitute for GE414.
Depending on the US for all of our fighter engines is just like keeping all eggs in the same basket. It's gonna be a huge mistake if we cannot find alternatives as soon as possible.
The government, Airforce, GTRE and HAL need to stop blaming games and start working on alternatives.
I don't understand this argument that IAF doesn't like Russian when almost half of IAF fleet fly on russian engine.
On top of that IAF has its apprehension of US fighter jet just because they are from US but IAF is ok with US engine.
HAL already producing RD-33MK for Mig-29K , it should not only just considered but also the alternative of Kaveri not GE-404.

He should have pushed for the acceleration of the certification and upgrade of Kaveri . Permanent option: quickly seal the deal with RR and make the AMCA engine, with a variant for single engine application on Tejas Mk2
American and British are same, we can not trust them. They are only offering this deal to us to delay the airforce plan sothat we eventually buy their fighter planes for our survival. Russia and France are the only reliable partners. We can not trust any NATO member countries. They are not free to take decisions on their own.

Indian government should put kaveri engine program under pmo and give retired air india Boeing 747 as a test bed (so in future indigenous high bypass turbofan engine can also be tested ) and give some fund to create high altitude testing facilities.we can't trust America for our fighter jet program.

Bro , can u please make a video on why we didn't try to make a twin engine fighter jet using kaveri engines when we got to know that KAVERI is not able to produce the desired 90+ kn of thrust that IAF wanted.
I mean kaveri can produce 70kn of afterburning thrust.
2 kaveris can produce 140kn
This way we could have had a backup fighter jet to fill our squadrons while simultaneously working on better engines.

Priyanshu bhai....lagbhag har country ne systematic aero engine ka growth kiya as time changed. India has made Kaveri but it has a task to make it compete with the best engines in one go which is hard. Two engines will sure add to thrust but will add to weight too.
Perhaps India should design Mk 1 A engine casing in such a way that it can accomodate GE 404,E J 200, as well as Safran engine. So that India have option in critical times even when the engine supplier tries to be fishy.
For a program this big where billions are involved there must be a contingency plan .......right HAL......right?...

US par bharosa kiya ja hi nahin sakta. Mujhe to lagta hai ki abhi se hume alternative dhundhna chahiye. Jitna late karenge utni hi problem hogi.
Launch the ORCA twin engine jet program *NOW* - with 2 x Kaveri instead of 2 x F414.
That way even if the Kaveri engine turns out to be slightly underpowered, it can still be used in the ORCA by keeping the aircraft's overall weight a bit lower.
The reduction of about a ton of reinforced landing gear material from TEDBF will do just that. Thrust to weight ratio with 2 x Kaveris eill still be high.
Do not end up in the same position as the MK1A where foreign suppliers can play these delaying games.
A good aircraft (ORCA) with an average indigenous engine (Kaveri) is infinitely than a good aircraft (MK1A, MK2, TEDBF, AMCA) with no engine (F414) !

It was expected , as the Supply chain was broken, However it will be better to concentrate, to develop indigenous options. In the future the USA will ditch to derail Tejus as well as AMCA program.

India should take the help of foreign retired engine experts to enhance the performance of our Kaveri engines and remove its shortcomings for its faster development.
Am sure US will pose similar obstacles in 414 engines also…… not a reliable country….. we must explore other options
Russian engine ke saath 2 issues hai... 1. Uski life span 2. Fuel consumption. Dono point ko consider kare toh Tejas ka operational cost kaafi badh jayega.
Even if India manages to develope an indigeneous jet engine US/NATO will not like it and may impose severe economic sanctions on India crippling the Indian economy. So, it is better to simply buy the f16 fighter jet that USA has offered India.
Subodh rd33 engine is not very efficient so IAF avoid it. But we can go for rd33-MK variant with full digital control, no smoke(plasma ignition) and 4000 hours life. Mig29k has 70% availability with this engine(after 2019) It also has 7% increased thrust.
And one more thing that jf17 use Rd-93 engine and not rd33. RD-93 is licence variant for china and china modified it with disaster engineering(shifted gear box and engine casing to different place) and decreasing it's life from 4000 hours to only 2200 hours as told by pakistan.

Over 3 decades back we made the mistake of going with GE engine. This actually resulted in French team leaving the LCA program. This resulted in huge delay in the program.
Even Boeing 747 Dreamliner uses both GE and RR engines. Tejas can do the same as well. RR is willing to do complete tech transfer and setup plant in India. India should take up this offer. Do the same with RD33 and Safran as well. Let everyone manufacture in India. Competition means no one can take advantage.

RD33 80 KN पर लगा रहे हैं तो अपने तेजस मे क्या कमी है 77 KN तो ये भी देता है और नये core से यदि 55KN मिल रहा है तो नये core वाले AB इंजन से 85 + KN आरा से मिलेंगे ।
एक नया तेजस इंजन बनाकर तो देखो, कौन कहता है US की फट नही सकती , एक पत्थर तबियत से उद्दाल कर तो देखो।
Just do funding and make one yourself. Stop begging and crying. Not easy. Just hire talented people and develop both amca and tejas mk1a engines. It is a necessity.

Irresponsible commentary by so-called experts without doing proper research. GE is struggling with engine production and it's last annual statement shows production has flat lined despite a huge order backlog. Even America's new helicopter prototypes are sitting waiting for GE engines, delaying the project. GE's Leap engines have a huge backlog. The companys issue is not just one component, their supply chain is struggling across the board. Their CEO Larry Culp mentioned the company continues to face shortages of forgings, castings, certain electronics and machine parts. GE are the best in the business and there's a reason why IAF insists.on them. The issue is we instantly go for knee jerk reactions, sabotage, enemy etc.. etc..
USA can even backstab its own allies,so who are we .
Rembember when we were asking u 1 year ago about Russian engine u were showring words for american engine.
But actually American engine are better than russian ones..
Russian engines either not effective but also produce smoke
its not backstabbing.. but planning failure on HAL/ADA part.. when critical components like jet engines are driven by geopolitical headwinds and when they don't have an inhouse alternative ready, multiple parallel vendors should have been engaged from the beginning of Tejas program. for eg. 3 variants of Tejas one on GE, other on Snecma or Rolls Royce and third on a Russian engine.
I understand that it would have been a tad expensive, but still less expensive than having to buy off the shelf aircrafts directly to fill gaps in squadron numbers. Hope this is a lesson learnt for future and other ongoing programs.
