Do you use a sleep tracker? Either one of those mentioned in this video or another one? Let us know!
Fitbit charge 5
I have zero interest in a sleep tracker that requires a subscription, which all of these do. Yes there are a few nice features. No I don't want to pay for them over and over and over again.
That's a fair point. The Apple Watch does not require a subscription, though it is the priciest option of the three.
hate to say it but welcome to to the 20’s 😅 not many things are going to be a one time purchase for high value
@@13v1Source: Trust me bro
Garmin has no subscription either.
How much was Apple charging you for a subscription? I would file a discrimination lawsuit if I were you, I’m black and they didn’t charge me a subscription.
70+ geezer here. Into weight training, walking, biking, jumping. I have the Oura Ring, gen 3. It is a great piece of technology! The Apple Watch is also fabulous. I love and use both. I only take them off to charge them.
Glad you found something that works for you! Great that you're such an active "geezer." #lifegoals
I'm not paying a Subscription for tracking devices. Period. If it is a one time purchase , I will.
That's a great point. The monthly subscriptions can definitely be a drawback.
I love the idea of the ring, because I feel pretty uncomfortable with a watch on my wrist, that alone would deteriorate my sleep even more, but I hate the idea of having to pay a subscription to track sleep, that is crazy. Hope they create one in a future without the subscription.
It's a common complaint; you're not alone! One thing we'll say -- it is a nominal fee, around $6/month. But yes, tough to swallow after dropping several hundred for the ring itself!
Best comparison video I've seen, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
on point. simple to understand and make a decision. thanks.
It's crazy how low your subscriber count is!!
You deserve way more!!
Thank you! Like and subscribe!
Great video, extremely helpful information, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful video. Thanks.
You're welcome!
Really nice video, thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Awesome I really need a good night's sleep
Curious. Which of these are the most accurate though? Do they more or less give the same results and it's all about features and form factor now?
Great question, James. More or less, yes, they all gave me about the same results. Some minor variances here and there with HRV scores and sleep times, but nothing out of the ordinary. I really do think it comes down to which device fits your lifestyle.
Thanks very much!
You're welcome!
What about bedside trackers vs wearables?
Is the price ever mentioned?
You do an amazing job of explaining the 3 "best" sleep trackers. I'm sure it's very time consuming to do these studies and I'm glad youre doing it. I simply can't afford these 3 and have been looking for a watch or ? that will track all of my sleep. My last 2 watches claimed to but naps are only viewed on a separate app. Do any but the very expensive devices track "naps" along with "sleep"? Marketing doesn't say so I have to take a risk and buy something, not knowing if it includes all sleep. If you can't tell, I'm an old geezer;-) (can't even use the happy face below;-).
Thanks for the kind words! And yes, the Whoop and Oura will actively track your naps. You don't need to do anything separate. The Apple Watch is, as I say in the review, a little rudimentary in its sleep tracking capabilities, so naps are a little trickier. Fingers crossed Apple makes some improvements there.
My problem with all of these is that you have to wear them! I don't like having any rings or bracelet-type items on when I'm sleeping. I once forgot to take off my watch before I fell asleep, and when I woke up in the morning it was on the other side of my bedroom on the floor. I must have taken it off when half-asleep and thrown it across the room!
That's a great point! There are plenty of sleep trackers that you don't wear, too. Stay tuned for more on those :)
@@SleepIsTheFoundation - I will! Thanks!
Please post that soon! I prefer a non wearable, too, for those vibrations bother me.
@@lynnann137 oura doesn’t vibrate
@jenifer look at 8 sleep mattress
Great review and comparison! I had mine for almost 4 years and I can't be any more satisfied. I love my Oura, helps me improve my sleeping patterns and determines when I need to recover. With it, I figured out how my food intake can also affect my sleep and recovery so it actually benefits a lot of factors towards health and wellness. It's still working fine and efficiently 'cause I protected it with OSleeve. I figured it's such an investment for almost $300 a piece so might as well care for it. I feel healthier and happier than ever.
That's great to hear! Thanks for your feedback!
thanks for the paid actor review
@@ShieldRacoonwhy do you say that? Three of my friends love it too.
How much they pay you for commenting on every video about oura?
Good information, however you have only mentioned the Apple watch how about people who use Android devices. There are significantly more people using Android than Apple, why suggest a product that only a third of people can use? Would it not be better to look at a device that can be used on both such as Fitbit or Garmin?
What about the Fitbit? I had an Apple Watch and the battery had to be charged every day so if you want to wear it as a daily devise you won’t be able to use it to track sleep without it running out of battery.
Great point! We reviewed the FitBit's sleep tracking capabilities here: ua-cam.com/video/-HnnbrVcodc/v-deo.html
Great video. I have sleep apnea and I can not use a cPap so I need the best device to monitor my sleep and breathing. Oura or the new Apple device? Or is there something better?
Ringconn
Great question! That's a question best addressed to a medical professional!
How do you mention the Apple watch for sleep but not touch Garmin? I know the title said Favourite. strange. Also the whoop has a subscription.
Good question! We are currently testing two Garmin watches, and we'll have a video on those coming soon.
Oura has a subscription too
Your average heart rate was 41?!?! Dang that’s actually crazy in my sleep it’s like 50
So much cardio.
Is the ring good for sleeping only? I don't really like to wear rings but is it worth it if I just put it on to sleep and take it off when I wake up?
Yes! You lose a bit of the comprehensive picture of how your daytime activities affect your sleep quality, but this is wonderful at capturing many different aspects of your sleep.
Yes! If you don't wear it during the daytime, you lose a more comprehensive wellness picture. So thinking here about how your daily activity levels may or may not impact your sleep and how much sleep you need. But overall, just wearing this while you sleep will give you an excellent picture of many different aspects of your sleep.
Once again apple catching up to everybody else 10 years later. A $20 tracker gives you sleep stages.
Any patches or anything can't where jewellery
We are not aware of any sleep trackers as patches. However, there are many you can put underneath your bed -- or set near your bed -- to track your sleep quality and sleep stages.
Hapbee #1 technology
Don't need an app to tell me if I'm ready for the day, my body will do that fine. I do need a good sleep tracker though. Like the ring, but won't be paying the membership, sooo.
We totally get the membership fees on these devices can be a deal breaker. But the good news is that sleep tracking is so common now that an Apple/Garmin/FitBit should give you some excellent data points without the monthly fees.
What about Garmin's?
Yeah, the sleep tracking on Garmins is really good! In my experience, it is not quite as granular as Oura or Whoop, but it's miles ahead of Apple. And bonus --> no subscription. But they are pricey devices. Certainly worth the look!
Thanks. Got the Vivoactive 5@@SleepIsTheFoundation
Why is the person in background motionless at start
They are very, very, focused.
What do you think the best sleep tracker is to perfect sleep?
Depends on why you think you need to track your sleep/what your issues are.
Apple's watchOS has be released almost 2 weeks ago, it now has sleep stages tracking, you guys are a bit late to the news.
Also oura ring does not vibrate, unlike whoop or apple watch, which can be used as a wake-up alarm. Apple Watch can also use 3rd party app like sleep cycle to have smart morning haptic alarm.
We filmed this before Apple's latest WatchOS went live, so we didn't have an opportunity to test it. Stay tuned, though!
So even when I buy a product I still need to pay extra for a subscription, GREAT
Yes, that is certainly the downside to some of these. But there are plenty that are one-time purchases and no subscription required. Let us know which one, if any, you decide!
Oura' diabolical customer service and ridiculous price + subscription make it a nogo.
I don't want to pay $300 for a device that fails every 1-2 years on top of a subscription. Either make it subscription w/ 100% device replacement or I pay more for a device with a 3yr warranty, no subscription. And, either way, customer service to back that up.
I'd be perfectly fine paying $500 for a 3yr warranty. But $600 for me to assume all the risk and play subscription games with an app? Delay features? GFYS Oura.
The fact that you completely neglected review the Fitbit and overly input on a Apple watch makes it sound like you're just pitching a commercial for Apple watches
We have a Fitbit review coming up! We're big fans. Stay tuned.
Don't buy anything with a stupid subscription!! Very expensive and a pain to get rid off.
The only one of this anyone should consider is the apple watch. If you purchase either of the other two, you are unfortunately going to be filled with regret. If not initially, then you will after enough time goes by...
So much yada yada yada for 3 mins of "useful" info. This guy could be in politics
gotta make the youtube monies
Vote for me in 2024!
Just say NO TO SUBSCRIPTIONS!
The woman behind you has not moved a muscle in 6.5 minutes. And, you were wearing a sweatshirt while the fan was blowing on you. Hmmm.
So handsome
Flattered. :)
You talk too much.
Flattered!
Really? The apple watch? Tell me you're an apple fan boy, without telling me you're an apple fan boy. It doesn't even trick your sleep. Yet you think it's better than the devices that do track sleep... hahaha ok
6 months I have slept horrible. I had a stroke and since then I have to take pills every night or I simply don't sleep
on point. simple to understand and make a decision. thanks.
Glad you found it helpful!
