So as a citizen of Australia if I get taken to court an answered questions like MR Conroy did in this video I could be fined for doing so why do these people get away with wasting the Australian tax payers time and money.
Call me strange but I would have thought that before passing a bill you should have a fair idea of its implications and scope for use... Yet when asked about its use Mr Conroy just says "I'm not a lawyer, I'm not sure how the legislation could be interpreted." Is that normal or acceptable? AM I EXPECTING TO MUCH?
This is a worry. Strange that when asked for a full list of attendee's at the meeting they excluded ASIO. And only when asked specifically if ASIO was present did they acknowledge their presence, inadvertently disclosing that ASIO was the third unnamed agency who as used the powers. It seems to me that the Labor Government has told agencies to use this law to block websites after the previous attempt to create a specific law to filter websites was blocked by the senate.
Admittedly, the law was created in 1997, and it's only in the last few months that agencies have been using it to block sites. It's a grey area, and I don't think anyone would have envisaged this kind of use when they drafted and put it into legislation. Although, it needs to be fixed ASAP.
I'm not a fan of the greens party's agenda but I like this man his honest questions are straight to the point would he consider abandoning the greens and taking a position where his intelligence would be of better use like the citizens party or one nation the greens will be holding him back from doing the right thing
