exactly, i've looked around on darkweb and most people use that garbage and think it's SECURE ... i keep laughing, i hope they all get caught for using that garbage xD
Telegram encryption protocol is custom made, which is a capital sin in cryptography. You never should design your "own crypto", it is hubris and it is a red flag. Projects that are serious about privacy use: open protocols, cryptographic standards, they are open source, *and they are non-profit organizations* If these conditions aren't met, you should wonder how serious they are about their privacy/security claims.
Having said that, Telegram doesn't their end-to-end encryption by default. So everyone who _forgets_ or _don't care_ about enabling the "secret chat" functionality, all the text messages are stored in Telegram and they are readable by their staff. So I find it really suspicious that this is just a "dark pattern" and that they rely that the majority of people _will not enable the secret chat option_ They even add the inconvenience that the "secret chat" is not accesible from the desktop. And all telegram group chats are not encrypted and afaik it is not encryptable either (they don't have the tech)
If you are serious about privacy, especially if your life depends on it, you better use Signal. They care so much about true privacy to the point that it scraps all metadata from their stickers and gifs, and every message, voice and video is encrypted end-to-end by default. There is no "insecure" mode.
>Projects that are serious about privacy use, use open protocols, which have giga easy backdoors so we can get the hurty word mean tweeters and chuck them in prison. ??????
The only way to avoid data collection is to have no smart phone and no internet, so you have not dodged anything here. The regulated services 'hand it all over'.
Shorter Russia: "WE wanted to persecute this unpatriotic fugitive unfairly. How dare YOU persecute this poor innocent patriotic perfect Russian citizen!"
I am genuinely confused by the hysteria in Russian media about this. Durov has been living in defacto exile to avoid possible persecution in Russia itself. And Russia itself has long been attempting to limit access to information on Telegram. Whether the detainment of Durov is justified or not, and no matter what precedent it may set or violate, it makes no consistent logical sense for Z sympathizers to be upset about this
Russian paranoia will never be subject to a logical explanation. But here, my understanding is that Russian military was using Telegram to share information and transmit war plans.
Artur Rehi had an interesting explanation. According to him the Russian mililtary has been using Telegram extensively for their internal communication. Imagine what'll happen if DGSE (that's the French version of CIA) gets old of all that information. It'll be the spy coup of the century, maybe even the biggest in recorded history.

Either Durov was playing Putin or Putin was playing Durov or the were playing each other -- no way Telegram operated as it did in Russia without Russian, ie Putin's, support. If you do business in Russia you do business under Putin's terms. Durov playing the innocent is quite the knee slapper!

In countries with constitutionally guaranteed free speech it is destructive to not uncover disguised messaging in criminal issues - not at least if there could be ties to the main adversary. May French law enforcement shut that down. And set a template to be feared by X.

No it does not... it does not prove a thing. Everything would be the same if the man just refuse to categorically share anything with anyone. Everyone would be mad at the guy and want access or influence over the application.

Someone is unfairly arrested in France, and its a red flag that his home country condems it and tries to give consular help? If an American citizen is arrested in Russia , is it likewise a red flag and an indication of his links to the CIA if American polticians condem it and ask for him to get consular acess?
Telegram is ALSO the primary way the Ukrainian channels are sharing war footage that's banned from YT. Telegram encryption protocol is custom made, which is a capital sin in cryptography. You never should design your "own crypto", it is hubris and it is a red flag.
Projects that are serious about privacy use: open protocols, cryptographic standards, they are open source, *and they are non-profit organizations*
If these conditions aren't met, you should wonder how serious they are about their privacy/security claims.
Having said that, Telegram doesn't their end-to-end encryption by default. So everyone who _forgets_ or _don't care_ about enabling the "secret chat" functionality, all the text messages are stored in Telegram and they are readable by their staff. So I find it really suspicious that this is just a "dark pattern" and that they rely that the majority of people _will not enable the secret chat option_
They even add the inconvenience that the "secret chat" is not accesible from the desktop.
The usual standards for encryption have been intentionally nerfed.
>Projects that are serious about privacy use, use open protocols, which have giga easy backdoors so we can get the hurty word mean tweeters and chuck them in prison.

No Telegram, no Tik Tok…ever.
The only way to avoid data collection is to have no smart phone and no internet, so you have not dodged anything here. The regulated services 'hand it all over'.

No it's a platform that I can easily send photos to my girlfriend.
What is Facebook,whatsapp,Twitter then🤣🤣🤣
@@kgosisimanyana those are the WEF mouthpieces 😅
Maybe all a act idk crazy

Perhaps it was just the made up story about exile

Ukraine also killed an investigative journalist. Gonzalo Lira, a citizen of Chile and the US.
@@WhatLegendsAreMadeOf While I won't claim that Ukraine does not bear some responsibility for Gonzalo Lira's death, he died of pneumonia and my understanding is that he was already in poor health.
Will France tell french citizens to get out of russia immediately, before being kidnapped by the FSB?
Either Durov was playing Putin or Putin was playing Durov or the were playing each other -- no way Telegram operated as it did in Russia without Russian, ie Putin's, support. If you do business in Russia you do business under Putin's terms. Durov playing the innocent is quite the knee slapper!

Imagine Kadyrov losing access to TikTok.
It's everywhere that the FSB runs telegram. This clearly proves this.
No it does not... it does not prove a thing. Everything would be the same if the man just refuse to categorically share anything with anyone. Everyone would be mad at the guy and want access or influence over the application.
total bs, telegram is used by criminals and terrorists in Russia too, if FSB ran telegram, there would be no crocus city hall shooting, tf yall talking about? You are the other side of the same coin, you think there is some "enemy" "threat" but in all the simple terms, its just a straw scarecrow🤦

Yeah, not like western guys crying about ecooology or continuing buying gas from Russia while telling people that they are strongly against it.
How dare anyone else, want to jail and punish him, that's Russia's job. ?????
Someone is unfairly arrested in France, and its a red flag that his home country condems it and tries to give consular help?
If an American citizen is arrested in Russia , is it likewise a red flag and an indication of his links to the CIA if American polticians condem it and ask for him to get consular acess?
