  • How are the crew of a pro cycling team car managing to stay on top of things and even fix a bike right in the midst of a race? Matt Stephens will take you on a guided tour of the Škoda Superb iV, belonging to the Canyon//SRAM Women’s World Tour team, and explain the real importance behind such team vehicles. This car specifically can fit a two-way radio, a dashboard phone holder and a screen with VeloViewer that can also turn into a television, and features space to fit front and back bike wheels, an open toolkit, lubrication gear, a cool box or the riders’ wet bag. Are the cars standard or do they have modified transmissions with gear ratios optimised for driving at slow speeds? Nowadays the support cars might be hybrids but their electric range is not enough for a full stage so for most of the driving the internal combustion engine is used.
