    James, I’m not sure if you watch HGTV or not, but they have a show called Fixer Upper (one of my favs) and it would be cool if you replicated a challenge on the Sims. Why not get an old raggedy house off the gallery OR work with the ones The Sims already has in-game and transform it into a dream home? You can’t tear it all down and create a new home but rather work with the features that the home offers and make it amazing. “Take the worst house in the best neighborhood and transform it,” as they say! Let me know what you think :)

    Not only do I appreciate the design aspect of this build (I LOVE how creative you've become with plant placement) but I'm super thankful that throughout the build you give a semi-walkthrough of how you accomplish placements (7:36 as an example) that are challenging. Makes a little more sense when I try complicated builds in my game.

    I have recently learned the best trick ever for scaling up or down items like a bed and making them useable. Get your sim to sit on the bed or sleep the go into edit mode and scale the bed up or down and now they will have a useable large bed

    James this build is probably my favorite!!!! Its both very different and new yet also you. I honestly adore it, its lovely. (About the dance floor lights, cant you change the colors in game and lower the intensity?)

    • @DoveJS
      @DoveJS 7 років тому +5

      You can't change the intensity because it's not a light; it's an entertainment object that has a glow attached to it. So, for example, if there was a bed with a glowing feature (light bulbs on the headboard, I guess), you can't edit that because it's not a light as far as the gaming code is concerned, it's a bed. Plus, there are only four colors for the dance floor: electric blue, purple, orange, and... I can't remember the last one but I think it's red or green. Really vibrant colors too. I think the blue is the softest but it'd still be noticeable, almost like there's a pool right there. They need to add actual skylights into the game.

  • @sleepykitty1985
    @sleepykitty1985 5 років тому

    The innovative problem solving that you use (the counter computer anchor, for example) is what keeps me watching your videos! That's just so cool! I love going into premade lots from the gallery and discovering things like that. One time, I went down through layers and layers of items that created an incredible fireplace in a home. This stuff is so advanced for me-- I only recently started creating garages and multi-level gardens (with basement entrance!).

    I honestly love this build so much. I sent the video to my sister saying that I wish we could live her. And because of her disabilities we could convert the second living space that you did toward the end of the video into her room so she wouldn't have to go upstairs to sleep but then the only issue would be the lack of bat/shower on the first level but we could make it work. If my computer could handle the sims 4 and I had all of the packs necessary I would download this house in a heartbeat. Seriously great job! :)

    Yassss, second. Even in sims 3 the end tables are to big. Also sims 5 should have custom height for sims, I don't think sims 4 has that. Love this build so good, and 3 hrs.... James I am so indecisive that a build can take me days.

      It was early this morn, here, and I was on my way home from work, so pretty, shining on the snow we just got! It was very bright, then reddish, then the smudge came over it, and blocked it out.
      It was also a super moon, blue moon, and a blood moon. The super moon is when the moon is close to the earth, blue moon is when there is a second full moon in the calendar month, and blood moon is caused by the eclipse and the sun's rays turning red because of being filtered through the earth's shadow.

      @jwilliams3966 7 років тому +4

      Amie Pike It's something I've been worried about too. I enjoy letsplay videos a lot but I can understand why someone might find making them taxing after a while. Especially with the way youtube treats it's "smaller" content creators.
      I'd suggest also following semaJ on twitch, it's completely different over there and we're always having a laugh in the chat during streams =)

    • @amie5701
      @amie5701 7 років тому +3

      SoyChaii Latte so true! Twitch is so fun and it must reminds creators how much their followers appreciate them. Not sure why I didn't think to pay attention to streams sooner. So easy to stream whenever you like but UA-cam requires so much hard work and creators probably feel like they have a super demanding deadline all the time which could totally result in lack of inspiration and artistic motivation. Anyway I'm sure it's better than whatever they were doing beforehand haha

    Great build though keep it up! Your an amazing builder in the sim and I also loved the wags to riches series.

    • @botanicaltears
      @botanicaltears 5 років тому +10

      Lyla Cole Hey there! I can help ya out. On PC (the only place I think you can do this) you can move objects anywhere you please on the floor by first opening the cheats menu (Clt+Shift+C) and typing bb.moveobjects on. This then means objects can go anywhere! Then, using 9 and 0 you can move an object up or down! Holding alt will allow you to move an object off the grid, and if using the Sims 3 controls will allow you to rotate the object freely. To scale up or down use the bracket keys! I think this can be done without moveobjects on but I’m not sure! Have fun.

    I love that you're finally really exploring the shrink objects option, I'm obsessed with it. Most of the EA decor is way too big! One issue with shrinkin side tables, or any surfaces, is cats kinda break them. They'll go to jump on the tables and float mid air, which isn't a super big deal, but can be annoying.

    But one day I'll build something cool >:T.

    I just watched some of Kayla's videos and realized she does some things you do and I thought it was so cool that like 2 mins later you mentioned a collab with her. that's so dope.

    I absolutely LOVE that mini counter idea! Been trying to figure out how to make that “nook look” and none on the desks really have me that feel.

    Wow this house is definitely one of your best ones! The interior is just amazing and really creative, I would've never thought about sizing a counter down to put a computer, great job!

    I love that wall that came with the fitness pack! That one and the brick one are my favorite things that came in the pack. Great for modern builds. Nice work Semaj!

      Sims don't need sink because they have unlimited plates and they can just throw all the plates away.

    Semaj this build is absolutely beautiful, everything compliments each other.
    If only I had all the packs to use this at its full beauty.
