There is no way that was not going to be delicious. I could taste the flavours just watching.

What an amazing vegetarian sandwich! I feel that Indian cuisine really nails it when it comes to vegetarian food. ALL THE SPICES! Certainly seems like an incredibly delicious sandwich! Well done Barry!

I was not expecting the Toast-Tite! My entire childhood was my grandmothers Toast-Tite grilled cheese!

First sandwich I’ve seen where he doesn’t plus it up! 😮

Tostite is one of the greatest kitchen treat makers! My 1950s childhood was devoted to Tostite grilled cheese, pizzas and apple pies.

Where was I that I’ve never heard of the magic Tost-tite? I too grew up in the 50’s and 60’s. 🧐

That looks fantastic, great work. I'd love to try it with some New Mexico Hatch green chile

When I was a kid we used a square version of that "pie iron" when we were camping - it made great grilled ham & cheese, and cherry "pies" 😋

Any time you make a sandwich from south or Southeast Asia, I have to eat some Tums before I can even watch the video. The explosion of flavors comes through the screen. Thank you for doing all the work for us.

The veg mix is a wonderful idea for some extra texture and flavor. I like to dip grilled cheeses in homemade tomatillo salsa, will definitely have to try it +'ed up with the veggies!

If I had a gas stove, I would get a Tostite. It looks like a great gadget. This Sammy looks yummy!

You could get a Dash Pocket Sandwich press. They are pretty inexpensive. Plug in.

I wonder how it would be done on the barbeque, giving it a smoky undertone.

That Tostite device is sometimes referred to as a "hobo pie maker"

I have noticed that the international sandwiches seem rarely to get plussed up. They also seem to be more complex than most of the earlier sandwiches. I wonder if maybe it's because they have already been plussed up over the years, and have basically reached peak flavor by now. You know? I dunno. I like my theory, though. :)

Yeah, I think of them how I think of the Reuben. It has stood the test of time and is iconic for a reason. So tasty!

That is the correct pronunciation in both American and British English, but all the Indian food channels I follow say it as per this video.

I don't. But I do have a spreadsheet were I am tracking name of sandwich, book used, date, pre-plus up score, plus up(s), post plus up score, did I finish it, and would I make it again.

Looked good until the bell pepper showed up 🤢. Oh well. Might try a "recipe remix" of this at some point when we're camping as we have several of that style of toasting contraptions. They're called "mountain pie" makers around here.

    • @SandwichesofHistory

Paneer isn't really a melting cheese and in all the making of vids the cheese definitely melted.

The India street vendors are some of the best in Asia. You have to know where to go or you will get sick.
