Am I the only one that finds budgeting oddly satisfying? Especially using different colors, the highlighting and all that good stuff lol

I’ve created an Excel spreadsheet with all the bills listed, their due dates, minimum pmts, whether they’re debts or not,l. I’ve also got them separated by which paycheck they’ll come out of. Everything’s auto calculated and linked up to various other segments of the spreadsheet. Segments include auto calculated payments listed and separate by paycheck, Dave Ramsey envelopes, Dave Ramsey snowball which has all debts arranged lowest to highest, their payments, due dates, and APRs if applicable. Lots of colors, lots of numbers and LOTS of fun! I swear I wish I got paid to do that for other people cause I easily spend my whole day off work adjusting things, budget planning and messing around with the style of it all.

I’ll be 31 and I still can’t budget lol. My bills and shit get paid but I’m literally down to nothing at the end of my paycheck.
I was the EXACT same way... living paycheck to paycheck is not glamorous at ALL... especially when you have 3 growing teenagers... I finally just said "I gotta do better...." & I DID... so far, just from this year beginning in January, my family has saved over $2300 😍😍

I loved using excel until my computer broke. It’s oddly satisfying to just write things down steering away from technology for some time. My spreadsheet keeps track of balances and checking off when bills are paid and the rest is written.
I don't have easy access to a computer. I could use Google Excel on my phone, but it's just easier to write it down for me
I’m 18 learning how to budget but I don’t know how to use excel, so writing things down on paper, would probably be easier for me, also the physical touch of writing each number and everything would’ve be great for my adhd so that shows everyone’s different!!
I started budgeting again after several months of not doing. It feels so satisfying and good to know where my money goes to esp for bills and extra stuff. Saved up a good amount of money to use for emergencies and stuff.

arnesha nelson, Try to eliminate as many bills as possible in the next 6 months, even if it means going broke. Then once you have paid those bills off, take that money you used on a monthly basis to pay off your bills and put in a savings account.

Invest in an excel spreadsheet!! I too, used to do this on paper but since I made it on excel, it’s blown up to one crazy, super detailed, fancy, colorful budget spreadsheet on crack! 😂

You got this. Especially if you put you a good plan together. It might take a few months to work out the kinks but you will get there. And starting early is super key! I wish i knew stuff like this when i moved out on my own the first time. I literally was just throwing money away 😩😩😩

You can also do this on Microsoft word. It will take u alot less time, it's just as accessible and easy to edit. No expensive pens or notebooks.

Lol i do. Its apart of my cash envelope system. I take out cash each paycheck for those categories so i dont over spend. Once i run out of cash thats it til the next paycheck.

Do you find it time consuming or difficult to keep track of all that? Meaning the amount of categories there are. For example I did this but my method was pretty much 2 categories. Food for me and gas for the car. Everything else was miscellaneous. If there were other expenses. I put 400 bucks in a standard white envelope above my bed and whatever I used I'd subtract from 400 example 20 used now I'm at 380 n so on if I had anything left id carry it over to next month. I ws basically living off of one check for the month the 3 other checks were going straight to my savings account.

There is a transaction fee for each item you sell. No paypal fees for me. As everything runs through etsy.

I’m so torn. Is this cash envelope system for people mainly in heavy debt? All I’m doing is building my credit up, so I let my bills pay my credit and just transfer the money from my checking account to make a credit card payment a day after or even right after I use it. So what happens with automatic payments online? Someone please help or if you catch this Elaine , would like to hear your opinion. Thanks
