Recorded on December 8, 2011, the 31st anniversary of John Lennon's death. I recorded this in one take and mixed it quickly because I wanted to post it before the end of the day.

A tear was running from my eye as I listened to your beautiful, heartfelt rendition of this timeless EJ classic. Isn't it a strange, amazing power that music has over us all, sooner or later. But I'm honestly glad it does, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
I can't help but remember that two of my favorite pop culture heroes, when I was a young kid back in the 1960s, were the action adventure cartoon character Jonny Quest and singer/songwriter John Lennon. I'd remind my parents over and over to call me John or Jonny, and when that TV show The Waltons was on they started calling me John Boy after the lead character in that program too.
My parents both planted and worked a really superb garden behind our house in northwest PA. They nurtured it with meticulous care and we children were proud to help. But my Dad passed away and then Mom sold our old home decades ago. There's no well kept garden there anymore as someone buried it, smoothed it over, then planted grass seed on it. Nothing in that location these days except a flat, empty looking back lawn.
Mom is gone now too, as is one of my older brothers, and I live some 40 or more miles away from that lovely garden and the house where we all grew so many things there, together. This song of course also reminds me of how we lost a true icon and a beloved hero. Elton once said that it's hard to sing without a bit of crying. Same for listening to it. Michael, you have a wonderful gift and a fantastic voice...I thank you just for sharing it all with us. May God continue to Bless you for that. Great job well done.✌

It's _perfect_. I honestly had no idea what this song meant until my grandmother told me about it in the car not long ago. I really listened to it then, and it's _insane_ how much different of a meaning this song now has to me.
Don't ever use his name again....MDC...he is referred to as an insect ...keep it at that.

The best version I've ever heard. As a life long Lennon fan who knocked in the head by Beatlemania in 1963 and thankfully never recovered, I was indeed crippled and dazed that night amd continue to miss John every day.

brings tears to my eyes . I just lost my best friend to cancer for 61 years we were brothers , he was a landscaper and loved his garden had a green thumb! I having trouble digesting this! I feel like a part of me died with him. this song was so much him. Im working on a partite changing the located and the name ,his name was Charlie Lyons . he passed on 2/18/ 2024 Im having so much trouble accepting the fact , I find myself crying most of the time . I know they say time heals all wounds, but how much time ? we were born a month apart and been life long friends. Im hurting so bad!

Probably the best tribute or cover of Elton's tribute to John on YT period. I found you a long time ago Mike. The first thing I ever heard you do was "We Can Work It Out" with your friend in the pizza joint. It's because of my love for re-creating cover songs in the exact key and diction and to make it sound as close to the record as possible, and that's what your very good at doing, I knew it when I heard the Paul tune, that's why I followed you.
