Lovely Job! I was impressed in the way you figured out how to put that complicated mechanism together. To think that someone at the toy factory had to design that is absolutely amazing .
What a great little model this one is, very intricate mechanism but simple at the same time. You done a fantastic job explaining everything Martin on how it works and why things are doing what they are doing. You done a great job on that window unit it looks 100% better now with them scratches gone, really great paintwork it’s as good as the day it rolled off production line , fantastic video buddy I really enjoyed this one with my first coffee of the morning, have a great day take care my friend. 🥇🥇🥇🎬
I had this toy when I was about 11 or 12. Probably my favorite toy that I can remember. My father had taken me to a high-end toy store and this was something he could afford. I wish I knew what happened to it. I tried to find one online and they were upwards of $135. Not even restored. Not in original packaging. Maybe one day I will get another one and give it to my grandson. Thank you for doing this video. Very nostalgic for me.
martin dares dinky restorations. Hi really liked the James Bond lotus esprit restoration, could I ask how you took out and replaced the wheels, this wasn't shown, thanks
Hi Martin. That was a very intricate mechanical challenge for you. It took a McGyver to refit a Bond car! Excellent work and great commentary all the way through. Loved it!
Very nice resto job 👍on the” 007” Lotus Martin, ole saying “I thought I was wrong but found out I was right anyway”LOL 😂🤣😅. Beautiful work Martin, stay well& safe my friend. 😎👍👍👍🚗🚘
Beautiful work Martin. Super painting. I did not know at all that the Lotus James Bond model was so big. I have Corgi, but so small. I will also renovate it, but this one is amazing. Best wishes
What a fun toy Martin...I loved the scene when Bond drives out of the water onto the beach..it was nice to hear the rain..we have had 3 weeks of 30 plus temperatures and no rain..again great job...🇨🇦
😀 you welcome to the rain ,we had a few hot days now it's back to normal dull ,wind, and rain . Glad you liked this one Curtis, hope you get some rain some my friend
Hi Martin what a great job on the bond lotus and an interesting way to get subs restore your own one lol. I always loved that Bond movie and the look on the guys face on the beach when Bond drove out of the water opened his window and handed him a fish. There's a tv show called American restoration and the guy on the show got to restore one of the movie prop cars for a car museum. He had to make it look like the wheels were tucking up like it was transforming into the sub it looked amazing when it was finished. The closest I came to a sub was when I was driving an old ford escort van in heavy traffic and it was bucketing down with rain. It had a leaky windscreen and because I was stuck in traffic with my foot on the clutch the water was dripping down and filling up my shoe😬 ahh the good old days lol. stay safe mate and I'll catch ya on the flip flop.👍
Hi Geoff, I know that program the guys name is Rick dale I think. I was going to do the opening shots with it in our fish tank, but I got busted by the wife, she wasn't happy. I bought an Audi 80 or 100 can't remember, but that thing inside was like a sponge ,letting in water but couldn't find where so I took all the seats out except the drivers seat and all the carpet and sound proofing and the rubber bungs, and drove to work for a week ,then it rained really bad so I sat in the car with a torch and waited , i could see it running down behind the dashboard passenger side, next day opened the bonnet and had a good poke around and found it. The battery was near the bottom of the windshield and had been leaking batt acid and made a good hole, the battery was under the vents at the base of the wipers so rain came through those and then the side of battery tray and the hole . Bit long winded sorry mate.
Epic restoration Martin. It was amazing to see all the mechanisms designed when pressing a single button. Thanks for this unique video. I have never seen anyone return one to mint condition. Stay safe.
You have the second version, smaller periscope on roof,Corgi did diffrent insides on these, because the missile mechanism was rubbish as you found out,my working two lotus the missiles misfire etc,you have done a awesome restoration 😀
Hi Martin i really enjoyed watching this one, fascinating to see how they get all that mastery into a small box. Great job on the window i hope it doesn't leak. Don't know where the missile went but old Smurfs face gives a clue. "GET DOWN STANLEY". All the best from Ian & family.
Hello Martin great restoration hope you and your family are keeping well . thankfully l do not have one of those l would not be able to restore it . Corgi should have started to produce real cars it would have been easier
Hi Glyn, we are all well thanks, yes you could do this Glyn I have faith in you . It was a lot of bits in one small area very clever designing. Take care all of you.
That turned out wonderful my friend really looks great! I have one of those but I've been holding off to do mine because I can't find the decals! Stay safe my friend!
Excellent result Martín, looks brand new by the time you worked your magic on it. I have one of these to do as well so it was handy seeing yours, now I know what’s inside lol. I’ve had 5 goes to watch your video, each time I’ve nodded off and had to start again, as soon as I sit down and relax, I’m gone, it’s so bloody annoying 🤦🏻♂️ Old age creeping up I suppose! Did you glue the axles back in or were they tight enough to clip back in? Anyway, lovely restoration, really nice finish to the paint work, top marks again Martin👌👍😊 Take care, all the best, Nick.
Hi nick ,yes I had to glue the axles back in ,thay are very thin and bend easily. I have the same problem my friend falling asleep its flipping frustrating. Have a good day my friend .
"Do you expect me to walk?" 'No, Mister Bond... I expect you to drive!' Looks like you can just make out the ribbing under the windscreen through your studio lighting...
I agree, epic restoration. But I have a question. I have just raided the loft for vintage toys for the grandchildren and came across the same 007 bond car last played with about 35 years ago!. It is in fairly good condition but the wheels and axles are damaged and need replacing. As the toys is intended to be (hopefully!) played with by the next generation, I do not intend to restore it (yet!). I am going for a partial repair. I would have loved to have seen you remove and replace the axles and wheels. You said you will “Cut out or grind them out like Matchbox or Hotwheels”. But this toy has exposed little lugs that retain the axle. How did you actually remove the axles? Did you lever them open or grind them? And what did you do to re-install them? Regards Lionel
Hi lionel, thanks for that . I removed the axles by grinding the lugs just enough to release the axles, then when putting them back I put a drop or two of super glue were the lugs are when the axles are in , the wheels turn on the axle so this is ok to do . Best of luck with it . All the best martin
@@martindaredare Many thanks, I will do exactly that. Oh by-the-way, in amongst all the loft treasures were Corgi Buck Rogers Starfighters. Amazingly, the replacement rockets for the Lotus also fitted the Starfighters. I think my sons are getting more fun from the long forgotten finds than the grandchildren! I also found a carefully packed away dolls house and dolls pram. Daughter is very excited about that, but granddaughter showed little interested! However, the enormous quantities of vintage Starwars toys recovered, created huge excitement and joy across all the generations and genders. I can see why you enjoy what you do, good fun init!
Lovely watching a master at work. Had fun enough with the larger Aston Martin
Cheers Ian 🍻
