Agree 100%. This was like nothing we had ever seen before in 1977. I was 7 / 8 years old. The Spy Who Loved Me was my first experience of Bond on the big screen and boy did it deliver when the Lotus rolled out onto the screen. With this otherworldly classic, Nobody Did It Better which later Bonds proved all too clearly. Glad your well again Mark. Brooks Collectibles is a treasure trove of coolness and great review as always
tough call ! there are so many good ones ! i always like the man with the golden gun and live and let die, but they are not the best films ! panda loves the new kicks BTW ! so thanks for that ! catch up soon. M
Glad you're recovering well Mark! Yes, the Lotus is one of Corgi's greats. The underwater version was designed by the legendary Derek Meddings of course and as you said Corgi's designers did brilliantly in fitting the complicated fin activation and staggered missile firing mechanisms into such a small space ( I'm looking at the cutaway and I still can't see how they get to pull in the side fins by pushing in the back section!)
I agree. Excellent car and the best last one. I bought mine from a Toy shop in the middle of Ashton Under Lyne, same shop I bought my Buck Rogers spaceship.
Good to see you're a bit better now Mark. - Worth mentioning the corgi gold plated esprits versions as presented to a few v.i.p's at film premiere of the spy who loved me, making them mega rare and very valuable. (I think that there was only a handful made).
I had this as a kid and I will confirm this was the best toy an 8 year old could ever have. The red rocket launchers in the back and the submarine mode were insane.
i have to agree, as soon as i see one it takes me right back to ripping that box open ! such a cool toy ! Hope you enjoyed the video, thank you for commenting ! stay safe. M
I 💯% agree that the Lotus and the Buck Rogers starfighter were the last best thing that Corgi made. My two favourite non star wars vehicles when I was a kid! Trivia Hirsute: Right behind Mark on wall is a For Your Eyes Only album. That film, was intended to follow The Spy who loved me as the next 007 film (it even says so at end of the credits). But Star Wars happened, so Moonraker got made first instead! Maybe Moonraker 6 should be your next Toy Tuesday - out every Wednesday!
they were such great toys ! i didn't know that about "for your eyes only" thanks for sharing that ! i watched moonraker last night, its brilliantly rubbish, and a bit rushed and i understand why now ! i was going to do a buck rogers video, but i out it to a vote and it looks like a shop tour is going to win ! when i'm allowed back in the shop that is 🤣🤣🤣
@@BROOKSCOLLECTABLES aye. Next time you watch Roger in TSWLM and you keep end credits on, it actually says "James Bond WILL return in For Your Eyes Only " Bollocks! But Moonraker is one of my guilty pleasures . But yeah a buck Rogers video would be awesome. Biddy biddy biddy!
absolute pleasure if you DM on facbook or instagram or email me at sales@brookscollectables.co.uk i'll get it shipped to you ! thanks again & have fun. M
I love the phrase "miniature engineering". I think my Golden Jacks collection is all genius miniature engineering. The ultimate is of course the 270 DB5 with revolving number plates.
i know what you mean, but i think a vintage one in good condition is a classic that will only go up in value and are relatively inexpensive at auction at the moment ! and the modern one is worth getting too ! hope you enjoyed the video ! thank you for your comment. stay safe ! M
Ah, the car is the star museum, I went there specifically to see the V8 Interceptor from Mad Max (or the 1973 Ford Falcon XB Coupe). Could have sat in it and had my photo taken if I bought one of his autographs for sale, but didn't take the opportunity sadly, one of my regrets! Glad you're on the mend, see you soon 😄
you know i'd forgotten the mad max car was there ! i think i only concentrated on the lotus 🤣🤣 ! there were all the cool kids having their photos taken with the modern aston martins, and there was me chuffed to bits next to a knackered old lotus ! thanks for the best wishes, see you soon. M
@@BROOKSCOLLECTABLES The V8 Interceptor is the holy grail to me, I believe a collector in the US ended up with it. There was a lot of cool stuff there! I remember the Bond cars (and motorcycles) They even had FAB1 Lady Penelope's Six wheeled Rolls-Royce. It was a great trip, especially as I lived on the south coast at the time, had just picked up a SAAB 900 Turbo and it was it's maiden voyage! Maybe there are some Toy Tuesday Mad Max related toys to do reviews on in the future?
It would be great to see your presentation of the newer version of the Lotus Esprit CC04514 by Corgi. I'm curious to see if the gadgets are static or can be activated by pressing the black button just like the original one.
I can’t wait to get my hands on one ! I think it’s going to be the same casting as I don’t think they have retooled it ever ! Which is amazing ! Hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for the idea too ! M
Never had the Lotus as a kid, didn't get into Bond until Timothy Dalton! Got it on pre order from Corgi if it arrives! Could just buy an old one if get fed up of waiting! Shame about the last Bond film though!
Hi Sir, it could be great also if you could make a video about the new Corgi versions of the Thunderbirds 2+4 and 1+3 plus Fab1 and compare some with the old Dinky ones
I had this.. Lost the rockets... Loved it. I have the queen's silver jubilee carriage still in its box... Wish I had this instead.. Oh and chitty.. Original and newer version.
i lost one of the rockets filming 🤣🤣🤣 ! i think they were designed to dissolve on contact with air ! you need to swop the coach for one ! hope you enjoyed the video thanks for commenting ! stay safe. M

Much fun was had with the Corgi Lotus. The little wheels were a bit weird, which ended up sinking into the body of the car and not turning.
