    This method is good, but you have one problem with the math. M should be A+A+A+A, not A+B+C+D. It does not matter how long is B+C+D. The error of the fence angle is 1/4 of the angle made by E-F (delta) over the length of the last cut (A). If you are cutting a square piece the result is the same but if your test is a rectangle it's not.

    132 pages front and back so really only 66 pages. Also you did a lot more math than you needed to, you only need to measure against the last cut and then divide by four. (A-B) ÷ 4 ÷ Length of 5th cut x Distance between pivot point and the point of adjustment = Error. Credit to William Ng.

      03:26 - I calculated the thickness of the sheet (not page). Your logic is correct if sides A and B are equal. If the workpiece is rectangular, then it is necessary to measure 2 sides.

    Коллега, в математике процесса есть небольшой конфуз.
    L = расстоянию между крайними шурупами, а не длина заднего упора.

    This squaring up method only works if the guide rails have zero backlash. It would be better to start by checking how much backlash exists in the rails using a magnet backed dial indicator.

    Why cutting many times? By far simpler method I use:
    1) set the pivot point on front fence
    2) Start machine, raise slowly the blade until it shows the cutting line in the middle od sled and forward.
    3) turn off machine and use combination square or 90 deg ruler to adjust the front fence to the cutting line.
    Cannot be simpler.

    • @michelmontgomery939
      @michelmontgomery939 3 роки тому +1

      Your stated process is a starting point for the five cut process. Your process relies on how good is your six inch by twelve inch combination square and how good is your eyeball at judging your square gaps.
      The first four orderly cuts sums the errors of each cut. The fifth cut yields a strip of material with the sum total error. You now measure the width difference with a precision measurement instrument like a digital caliper, vernier caliper or micrometer. You divide the difference by four to calculate the error per cut. Dividing by the length of the strip yields taper per inch. Now multiplying this taper per inch by the distance between your pivot point to your adjusting point on your cross fence gives you much finer adjustments per inch.
      You can’t possibly see this fine of adjustment with a square.

      @@michelmontgomery939 There is no need for finer adjustment when 0,1mm is the error. In carpentry, that error does not count because bending of fence and blade comes into play.

    first of all it’s ridiculous to try and tune your table saw to within a couple two or three thousands lol using a machinists square which is totally accurate to square your fence to the blade is as good as you need. fussing over a couple thousands is insane, you’ll never notice it in a joint or anywhere. I’ve been woodworking and building furniture for over 40 years and have never used this method, seriously lol
