So I said to myself " hey...look and see if anyone has done a live version of 'Memo From Turner' ". Low and behold...here it is done by one of the brothers responsible for IMHO the best band since....well... The Greatest Rock N Roll Band In The World. :)
I've just stumbled across this. I am familiar with the original version which I love, but I can honestly say, I have never heard of Rich Robinson before. Fucking Hell, I can't believe how great this is! How the fuck have I never heard it before?
I saw him do this live on a mini tour in Boston at harpers ferry around 2003 or 4. I got a tape of it a few weeks later, I swear this is the same show. Either way it was amazing to see Rich headline over guys from Blind melon, Spacehog in the opening bands. Liv Tyler was there, maybe 100 people in the audience
Great cover. The Beatles we're so technically innovative (with the help of George Martin ) but the Stones did it raw and in your face. Great example 😛❗
@@ΣωτηριοςΚαννακιδης Kieth is in the first version . It's rough but it's definitely the canvas for the finished art . Jagger has written some great tunes, but his best always includes Kieth . 😎
DUDE! THAT'S AN AWESOME, RIPPING, LIVE COVER OF THIS EPIC CLASSIC!! I'M FUCKING IMPRESSED Edit: I'd be willing to stake my life that Ry is equally impressed
Rich is a damn good player, but what Ry Cooder did on the original version is astonishing. It's the best slide playing I've ever heard. Ry Cooder is the best slide player ever. Better than Robert Johnson and better than Duane Allman. Those two men died very young so it's a bit unfair, I know.
Shhiiiiuuuut appp! KISS is a comedy band and can barely play their instruments. Hence the cosplay costumes and makeup. They had to come up with something to sell their (choking on the word) "music". We're talking about REAL music here. Don't taint it with your KISS promo

Ry Cooder would approve. Awesome
05/18/24: Excellent! Mr. Robinson avoided the beguiling trap of trying to be Jagger. Thank you.

Edward Santos yyyyyessss
My thinking exactly!
The earliest live cover I can find is from Blondie.
Staggeringly brilliant cover of a much overlooked gem.
Manfred Williams:nice but no cigar, jaggers phrasing ,and diction more better
this version deserves more love
Yed

Fantastic job
Performance deserves more love - fucking Get Carter and the long good friday and crossroads should all bow before it !
Love this guy , love this tune , True American Musical PATRIOT
it ain' t a yanqui tune
Such a fine version... A faithful but fresh interpretation.
That’s a perfect comment! Faithful yet fresh is spot on.
Absolutely Wonderful! Amazing! I think Mick and Ry love this cover.

Awesome song
Isn't he formerly from the band The Black Crows? Great version of Memo from Turner. Love it!!!
Simply lovely
So much fire 🔥 Rich is so awesome amazing cover 🔥🔥🔥
damn....that really rocked...loved it!
That was fucking great. Best Mick Jagger rendition I ever heard.

ummmmmmmmm, not a Stones song; really
Every song that sounds like a stones is astones song. If Keith likes it..

Clearly a Jagger/Cooder session first.
Any truly great tune deserves to be covered well.....kudos!!!!
Great cover. Would like to have seen this live.

05/18/24: Ry might have said the same thing about what turned out to be a bad bet.
perfect cover! saw the 'Crowes' once in München (Olympiahalle) followed by N. Young with Crazy Horse - both were playing much to loud.
...great job!
wow!!!
deadly version! but you MUST have a fuzz on the bass if you want to get the right vibe .
Pretty good
Guitar riff sounds like the Black Crowes "Stop Kicking My Heart Around"..........wonder where they got that from?
Killllllller

Open G ?
is this in open g??
A tuning
Whenever I make a failed attempt at playing it, I play it in A.
I think I need to add a twinge more fuzz
I think It is written and played by Ry Cooder on the movie. But its masterpiece anyway.
No, the glimmer twins wrote it, but feats. Ry Cooder. There are 2 other versions of the song that hardly anyone has heard.
good done and live! (but drums...)
Too closed from the original, to far from Ry Cooder and Mick Jagger.
Sorry but the voice is mick
Check out KISS 2000 man.😛❗

Great guitar but he might as well be singing the phone book with the lack of passion in his voice.
@@FuzzyJackson1066 If you think the vocals in this song have any emotion or passion you are more diluted than your Beat the Brat video.
@@FuzzyJackson1066 Fair enough Michael, Great tune, yes, obscure NO. Like I said the guitar is great on this cover.
HOTlanna's - Black Crowes!
