This is a Q and A we shot when we did the Scram video before Christmas. We’ll be back up and running either Workshop vlogs next week. We hope you find some interesting advice if you’re thinking of driving overland in Morocco Africa
If you want a real old-school desert experience you should join us on our next Popski's Private Expeditions adventure. We've spent the last three adventures in the Tunisian Sahara doing research on the desert war adventures of the LRDG and PPA as they tried to get around the Germans at the Mareth Line. We go in old Lightweights, 90's, Wolf's, 110's, a WMIK, and even a few rather custom jobs like my long-nosed 110 roadster. When we get to Douz we have a lockup where we take off the tops, tilts, doors/door tops, and windscreens and leave them there until we pick them back up on the way back. That means we spend the hard part of the trip out in the elements just as the guys did during the war (although nobody is shooting at us!). We've had blistering heat, sandstorms, huge dunes, vast open plains, and even been rained on. This last expedition we actually navigated using old-school sun compasses and found them to be extremely accurate. Look us up on UA-cam! ua-cam.com/video/cOukXyuvzgc/v-deo.html
Now this sounds awesome please send us an email as would love to join some time info@mahker.com
Not sure why you sound so surprised Dave that Maura’s 90 still finished Scram after all the hard work (+Money), you and the team actually put into it and rodent, I think pride and accomplishment is you guys should feel - very well done. ❤ Mahker😊
🔥🔥🔥
I’d say the first thing to take is a vehicle with wind up windows to stop the sand storms. I went in 2008 in a Pajero, fully kitted out for a month into zagora, through the high atlas etc. was a great trip!
That sounds pretty awesome
If I remember well, the head-scarf is called a sjeisch. Happy Land Rovering, David
Thank you
Also called a shemagh or a keffiyah. It depends on where it's from as they have regional names.
@@ailo4x4 thanks Sir
Blimey! Look like that 200tdi had a harsh time.
If you flick back a few episodes there’s a whole segment on it with a load more footage
Hi Dave, do you have any uproar 4x4 products in stock? I’m looking for a pair of 110 body protectors for the back corners if you could let me know that be great.
Yes, drop us an email to info@mahker.com and please mention contact from UA-cam (Chris). I’ve told Dave to expect it
Enigma isn't a cheap bottle! 1 of 2,000 and £290 each.
Oh but it’s worth every drop for good friends 😚
@@wearemahker can we be friends? 👉👈
I’ve paid my deposit for the April 2024 Scram today. Are you guys doing it again?
Unfortunately not in April 2024 as I’m expecting my baby girl to be born we plan on running our own trip in September thanks Dave.
So tempting…. Off to autotrader and pistonheads to find a base vehicle for Scram. Great video as always guys
Depending on your budget we have a few already available
Interesting@@wearemahker, I’ll drop you an email.

Merc 190...
The headgear is called an Arafat 😅 not head scarf
My bad (Chris) thanks for correcting us
@@wearemahker 🤝
Hi guys,
What DRLs do you fit in the bumper, as seen on capt rattys truck?
I’ve just gone through my 4th set of Ring DRLs and now looking into lazer lamps but not sure if they fit, interested to know what you guys recommend.
That’s a bumper off Chris @ore Engineering.
Lazer would be a great upgrade
Should be named "what you need to know about doing COMPETITIONS" NOT driving across africa as it say F all about what you need to know driving across africa. Just a bit of a poo video.
It wasn’t a competition though. And we say in the description that it’s answering people’s questions. The main video dropped a few weeks ago, you did watch that one first right?
