Are you planning on playing the game? Also, I just got informed that the developers are working on certain patches to fix the bugs I mentioned, some of which are already out, so that's great!
Another great and helpful review, thank you! As you explained there are lots of accessibility features. Have you tried to adjust the screen-shake (e.g. as at 4.43 in your video) and did it make a significant difference? As it is in your video it will be unplayable for me. Normally when I watch your reviews, I am able to decide if I want a game or not. Unfortunately, not this time, I wish there was a demo.
I didn't mess around with the screen-shake meter, unfortunately, but I see what you're saying, that particular segment was too much (though the only one that had that intensity, if I remember correctly). I'll have a look later today and let you know if the screen-shake meter allows complete removal of the effect!
Very nice review! I'm surprised you didn't have any issues with the skill tree though, but glad you enjoyed it as well. It's funny how our 3 recent videos are reviews of the same games, but I can't imagine our 4th video will be the same as well, if so, I will eat my shoe! 😅
@@GamingwithJoy15 Ahahaha, great minds think alike! As for the next review, it's going to be a blast from the past, a game that's very near and dear to me!
Since this is a 2.5D game i wasn't as interested because i'm generally i'm not that big a fan of that style. I checked out the steam page and felt like it looked cheap so i was gonna skip this but hearing both Joy and you so positive about it convinced me to add it to the wishlist for when i have the time for it, cheers! Also i'll update this comment with my thoughts after i've played it :)
@@d00mnoodle24 That's great to hear! Do keep in mind that it is quite rough around the edges. It can feel clunky, especially when it comes to certain animations. Just making sure you make note of that!
@@soulsborneseeker yeah but the great boss battles make it seem like it's worth it. Also i found you to be pretty critical on games (in a fair way) and you gave it an 8 so it must be good lol
@@soulsborneseeker Well... I played it and was generally quite dissapointed given my high expectations set by both yours' and joy's enthusiasm on the game. I found the game pretty much lackluster in every regard but especially combat and bosses. There's so many things in this game that can stun you and combined with the instant death pits i was quite frustrated. The green giant boss especially was eggregious as it destroyed all platforms before i could shoot it down with the rifle, forcing me to brute force the shotguns' short range, risking dying to an instant death pit which happened quite a few times before succes. The other bosses did not fare better with the exception of the mecha bird and shadow spider bosses which i enjoyed. I was also very dissapointed by the lackluster story and subpar voice acting. Animations were rough and platforming did not feel responsive as an MV should. I also found the mapping system quite mediocre, allowing you to only view the current area which made backtracking for 100% cumbersome (i still did cuz ocd completionism) Credits gotta be given where it's due, the accesibility options were numerous and appreciated because while i did not make use of them there's many people who would. I also found the game to be not as ugly as i first thought and even looking nice at times although not always. Music was suprisingly fitting and sometimes enjoyable but these three points did not make up for the rest of the game in my opinion. I would personally give it a 4.5/10 sitting among the worse metroidvania's but not THE worst. Those go out to monster boy, rebel transmute, goo keeper & 3000th duel
@@d00mnoodle24 Ah, sorry you didn't enjoy this one :/ It's definitely quite rough around the edges, but I found myself enjoying it quite a bit. That being said, more work was necessary to make the whole thing more polished, for sure!
Hail to you, Soulsbourne Seeker! I watched Joy's video on this first, and like I said there, I wouldn't mind picking this one up. And like I said there, this one really reminds me of a similar looking/themed game that came out like 6 or so years ago that barely anyone talked about, do you have any idea what I'm talking about? Certain things about this game remind me of Frontier Hunter: Erza's Wheel of Fortune, or to an extent, Trinity Fusion, forgive my senile ignorance, have you tried those out?/thoughts?
Hail to you as well! I'm not sure which game you're referring to, though it does remind me of something as well which eludes me at the moment! I'm planning on playing Frontier Hunter soon, I've heard some good thing about it (and some complaints as well)! Haven't tried out Trinity Fusion yet either, though I'll admit it looks incredible! Have you played those two?
@@soulsborneseeker Indeed I have, both are good times in their own way, imo. Frontier Hunter (2), just underwent an art style makeover, Ive been playing it since its inception, so its cool to see a game progress and improve over time
The concept of a kind of Metroid. But the implementation is just a complete disappointment. A bunch of bright acidic colors, elements of neon shades where they are not needed, half-empty locations of the same type, The animations lack fluidity, why such a huge scale if the locations are half empty but there is nothing to look at. And of course, the UE engine was chosen for this, which in indie games mostly looks plastic glossy.
In terms of the environments, I actually thought they were decent considering the setting of the game. As I mention in my review, sci-fi games sometimes choose to go the sterile/bland way in terms of presenting labs/mechanized areas/planet surfaces and in this situation I was pleasantly surprised by the variety! About the visuals, I enjoyed the realistic and, at times, quaint approach to the science fiction setting, and can't say I was bothered by the color scheme, though I do tend to prefer a more vivid and vibrant palette! As for the technical aspects, I agree, the game is quite rough around the edges, especially in the animation department.

Sorry for the late reply! I just checked and confirmed that you can reduce screen-shake intensity to 0%, so it should be fine for you!

you got a better idea besides UE? In my experience indie games look good with UE. It's unity where 3D looks like shit.
