All good suggestions for utilizing some vertical space! I’ve grown akebia here but I didn’t enjoy the fruit enough for the amount of space the two plants I needed too up.

Most plants will need some sort of pruning at some point. No way around that. Raspberry and currants usually just need removal of dead or diseased wood. The mulberry will require more knowledgeable pruning but are way easier than pomes or stone fruits.

what zone are you in? I’m in zone 7b. Have some Szechuan peppers but they haven’t flowered yet. I feel like you’re zone 8 or above?
