The main feature that differs Chanterelles from Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca is the colour. If the bottom part is anything from orangy to red- don't take IT even if you think they look pretty 😊 if it's yellow or bright yellow- go ahead

I planted 4 Dwarf Everbearing twigs in Louisiana this year. They`re very tall already even though I`ve trimmed them 4 times and even bent the original top branches over and staked them. A couple are over 12 feet tall anyway. I`m gonna let one of them grow large for the birds but I`m cutting 3 of them back much shorter this winter. I tested forcing fruiting by cutting branches back by half and stripping the leaves from some and they fruited but I waited too late in the season and the sun is too low and shaded a lot by pines. I let one get very ripe and it was very sweet and the slightly red ones are good too. The birds will be very happy in the coming years. Ha!

Being able to identify what a mushroom *is* is useful for cooking. But being able to identity what a mushroom *isn’t* keeps a person alive. Poisonous mushrooms are far fewer than edible ones. So wouldn’t it make much more sense to educate us on the few species of mushrooms to stay away *from*?

Did you know, that natural toxins in raw elderberries can cause symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting? They need to be cooked before eating/drinking the juice. Just saying 😉

My strenght is limited, so I try to do a little every day. Just a little, but every day if I can. And I make prioritised plans for my jobs in the garden, just small notes in my notebook. It helps a lot😅

Can you dry the cattail for a while, and then have it in water before using? Is it posible to make the basket to fit an old used food container, to make it look nicer for other uses? do this plant have other uses? I belive you can eat the root?

I have tomato seeds from like 2005 still good

I've got a handful of onion tree bulbs in the cabinet above my stove vent. The vent keeps it nice and cool, and the cabinet is hardly ever opened because I use it to store my "cool dark dry" seeds. Then I've got another one near the window for "dark and warm" and a plastic drawer thing from the dollar store on my balcony I'm using to store "dark warm and moist," and using the top of it to keep the ends of my currently growing onion trees off the ground and raise smaller pots up so they're not shaded by bigger ones lol My husband had to deal with bags of seeds in the fridge for so long that he wants to get me my own mini fridge 😂

Last Spring I found some sunflower seeds of unknown age (5+ years) in a junk drawer and tried to germinate them for fun. All nine seeds germinated and now I'm back to growing things again. Tomatoes, watermelon, cucumber and beans. Seed prices sure have gone up since I bought those sunflower seeds.
