    Great rebuild for sure. I have never before seen the inside of one of those things. If it were me I don't think I would have invested 138 plus labor fees to have it rebuilt when I could get everything new plus a warranty for about a hundred dollars more--if I understand the pricing correctly. Hopefully it lasts a good long time for the customer. Thanks for the video.

    Hi Mick. I've rebuilt alot of these hl135 and use a couple almost daily. They're a good unit and much better built than the replacement which is the hl145, that's why they make the money broken. I can tell you 100% that unit failed from lack of grease. I grease mine everyday as soon as I can hear the chattering noise. Doing this they seem to last forever practically.

    • @themowerman
      @themowerman  4 роки тому

      Yeah I try to tell the professional guys but they look at me as if I'm just after the money.. well some of them anyway.. still a new attachment is £240 upwards. So a repair is cheaper.

    Hi Mick, great work. Wondering if you have help please.
    I bought a second hand Stihl KM56RC which had somehow been modified to just take the long reach hedge trimmers only. That’s what I believe to be the case anyway, unless they changed the housing in the motor itself. The shaft of the long reach trimmer goes directly into the plastic housing.
    I used it once and upon the second attempt the motor worked fine but the blades are inoperable. So I opened up the gearbox casing and it seems that spur and pinion have been slightly damaged through wear and tear (that’s what I believe to be the reason why it doesn’t work)
    My questions are the following if you wouldn’t mind answering…
    As I have limited markings on the long reach trimmer to work out what model number it is I’d like to ensure I buy the right gears for the unit, do you know if the long reach multi tool and the long reach normal series have the same gear box?
    In your opinion are there any other reasons why the blades would not work?
    Thanks in advance for your help, any advice would be great appreciated.

    Hi again Mick, Just an update from last month, this problem is on my HL95 hedge cutter, I ended up changing the 2 bearings on the pinion gear, which is the one that drives the cam gear for the blades, for some reason the pinion gear is actually working its way out of the casing, so hence the smaller drive gear isn't engaging on the cam, have you ever come across this issue before and if so how can I fix this? The term cog refers to an individual tooth on a gear. My pet hate is people calling gears and sprockets, cogs. My tip on stihls replace the grease plug with a modified grease nipple. Usually found on eBay, search stihl grease nipple. Client can then grease their gearbox regularly with a grease gun.

    • @JB-ly3eo
