This rain drive was majestic but last weekend was not Bottas at full pace. Austria is extremely difficult to overtake at in the same machinery, escpecially with worse tyre wear. Bottas new this and took the safe w. Why try and build a gap, maybe make a mistake or wear your tyres out when you can safely save tyres and keep your teammate in check. Bottas was in tge lead, whilst Lewis had to overtake and push at the start meaning Bottas already had the tyre advantage. Without the safety cars Bottas would've had 2 extra laps in his soft by the time pitstops happened. This means he stay out longer and get less worn hard or even the mediums whilst still being infront of Lewis. Second, Lewis had the chance to attack Bottas for 5 laps (1 with more power than Bottas) and could do nothing. Staying behind Bottas also wore down Lewis's tyres. I will say this week it's Hamilton's to lose with Bottas behind Verstappen. Hopefully another exciting race.

Juan D Atristain well, his teammate is a soy boy hahah. He has the most dominant car in F1 history for 7 years. As we saw, he didn’t fair nearly as well against Rosberg (good but not great), Button (good but not great), or Alonso. TOP class driver but not above the rest. Schumacher on the other hand, was simply on a whole different level. Despite what people say, for the majority of his time at Ferrari his car wasn’t THAT much better than the rest (only 2004 and 2002). Hamilton had the best car in 2007, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 (more consistent and better over the whole season than Ferrari), 2019, 2020 and probably 2021 too. So...every season in the V6 era🤣🤣. That’s why he’s not much to me. In a decent car, he was slightly above average. The proof of Schumacher’s greatness isn’t in his championship winning years. It’s in the years he didn’t win. The best example is 1996. That Ferrari he was driving was absolutely disgusting. Disgusting car. MSC put it on pole FOUR times. Check out his Monaco lap that year. Lewis could never dream of completing such a lap in a car that tough to drive. Another example is 2005, where MSC finished third in the WDC even though his Ferrari had no business being there. Lewis is great but not amongst the best ever. Schumacher, Senna, Fangio, Gilles Villeneuve, etc. These guys were simply on a different level to Lewis. They would laugh so hard at seeing the worship Hamilton receives now.
It was pretty obvious when he first came to F1 that he was special, the wet conditions just separates the greats from the good ones even more. Its laughable that people doubt his ability. Its in the open for everyone to see how good he is lol

Anyone who says Hamilton wins just because of the car knows sweet FA about F1. Irrespective of what car you have rain is the great leveller and driving in the rain sorts the boys out from the men and Hamilton is consistently and by a wide margin the best in the rain. It is no fluke that Hamilton always has pace at the end of a race as he is simply the smoothest driver on the grid and is the best at looking after his tyres. In the past his teamates (especially Rosberg) have benefitted enormously and have been competitive by simply having access to all of his telemetry and car setups. Also personally I am not getting tired of Hamiltons masterclasses, what I am bored by is the inability of any team or driver to mount any serious challenge on Mercedes/Hamilton. Hamilton is in my opinion the greatest F1 driver, he has won world championships with 2 different teams and unlike Schumacher has not had to resort to dirty driving tactics to win his titles.
The spirit of Senna was summoned today by Hamilton. He asked for a little bit more grip to go for the gap that still existed...and so he did by going .5 faster...

And it looks like he really finds grip at the exit of turn 1 and i can not see many drivers going that hard there. He found that spot earlier but had otherwise bad lap so he went for it in the last lap. Weather changes very quick and he was the best today
Everyone saying “Oh but he is in the best car” true to an extent, but when you go 1.2 seconds clear of your closest rival, that’s not just down to the car. Hamilton has shown over the years how good he is, especially in the rain. In the rain, no one comes close to him. He also showed at McLaren, even when they had a bad car, he still was getting more out of the car than most people could. Put some respect on the mans name. Would be legendary if his mind is still not there.
Respect to all the drivers for making driving in such horrific conditions look so easy.
Hamilton haters: Onboard camera on Hamilton's car is placed lower hence giving him 1.2 seconds advantage due to lower center of mass.
Even the most vociferous haters have to admit that it only gave him a 0.5 second advantage and begrudgingly admit that the rest was down to the driver.
hE hAs ThE bEsT cAr
@@anurag2009 I mean, he does have the best car by far.
@Atakan ACAR Don't tell that Red Bull because Hamilton will get a penalty 🤣
@@PhilGerb93 But the advantage reduces to almost 0 during wet conditions. Also this year it has been pretty close. If he does some mistakes, the midfield teams will have good chance to get podiums. I hope he wins tomorrow's race.
His throttle control is ridiculous. How he feathered it out of T8 at @1:04 is extraordinary
This lap will go down in history and be referred back to in decades. Like him or not, this man can peddle..
Amazing where he was able to find soo much grip compared to everyone else. That lap was just other worldly.
This pole lap is even better than the 2018 Singapore one. He was seeing slow mo, there’s no other way to explain this.
Honestly, this lap has to be right up there with his Singapore lap in 2018. Man drove like he was on dry track, and 1.2 seconds ahead of P2 is just insane
love him or hate him, you just have to respect this guy. best in the rain since senna, maybe best in the rain of all time. he just really has something that separates him from other drivers.
Not a Hamilton fan by any stretch of the imagination, I couldn‘t help myself but watch him besting himself in awe and hoping for another „purple lap“
Well done!
The dude drove like it wasn't raining at all. Senna would be proud of those 2 laps
Hamilton is one of the greatest legends in the whole history of motorsport. A few times, he has shown to be a step ahead of everyone else. One such instance was today, July 11th, 2020.
Theoden the Renewed Yeah and you did forget taking Albon out twice. I mean seriously, what a fucking joke. When someone overtakes him, he just can’t stand it and he takes him out. And all the poles and shit will be because of the fucking DAS.
@@martinofficial1586 Meh, shit happens. But have you seen the stats of Hamilton? They're crazy
@@martinofficial1586 what do you mean the poles will be because of the das? The main function of the das is tyre management, it does very little over 1 lap

No words for that
Oh c'mon really? Dislikes on this? That's petty, this was a masterful lap love or hate Hamilton, this sport ain't for you if you can't appreciate that.
People say it’s the car when he out qualified bottas by over a second. Champions drive.
Would like the comment but it's on 44, I'll come back when it isn't
People always be saying all kinds of outlandish stuff to discredit the greatests.
@@mikemoggerson6651 I guess you don't consider Lauda as one of the greatest then
JT Foreman Seriously? Ferrari was just as good as the Mercedes in 2017 and 2018 Hamilton is way better than Schumacher, at least he didn’t cheat.
Barely any wheelspin, barely any counter steer moments. It might as well have been a dry lap for Lewis
It would be really interesting to watch Bottas' fastest lap to see the contrast.
Huh? The amount of micro corrections he’s doing is insane.
Study his control of downshift and upshift in wet conditions to understand how he manages wheel spin.
His throttle control is nuts
@@guyarchard422 and that's the thing. These corrections are barely noticeable to an untrained eye
He looks so amazingly in control.. unreal!

Good one!
It was pretty obvious when he first came to F1 that he was special, the wet conditions just separates the greats from the good ones even more. Its laughable that people doubt his ability. Its in the open for everyone to see how good he is lol

One of the best Poles I've ever witnessed and I've been watching them for nearly 40 years. Wonderful to behold.
Remember the "rocketship" project Alonso was talking about a few years ago? Mercedes got it, they call it Lewis.
Awesome
Hats off! Absolute masterclass
I always believed Hamilton was just a good driver in a great car but this is legandary
From a Vettel fan
LOL. A good driver. It´s been clear for the past ten years that he is among the best ever.
@@jericho2224 Yeah sure
You don't win 6 world championships for 2 different teams on car performance alone.
Yes, he's very good indeed and best of todays drivers, but as good as Clark, Senna, Schumacher, Stewart? not quite but getting there.
Just realised the gap between hamilton and bottas was 1.428 s, basically like senna v prost in monaco 88
Absolutely different league my boy
The spirit of Senna was summoned today by Hamilton. He asked for a little bit more grip to go for the gap that still existed...and so he did by going .5 faster...
What a driver is Lewis Hamilton. We're so tired of Mercedes and him winning it all, that we forget the dude is the most consistent beast on the grid.
That being said, let's go Verstappen!
Not only that he's the most consistent, but the level at which he's so consistent. It's just insane
That's cause he has been having the best car since 2014, if he was at ferrari or redbull it'd be a whole different story trust me
NIBV he’s developed the car can’t hate.
@@nibv6996 he would of won the 2017 and 2018 title with ferrari as they had just as good of a car if not better than Mercedes, he's a beast of a driver and just better than any other on the grid

The car: "I wanna go this way"
Hamilton: "Sit down and obey girl"
Hamilton completely bossed this lap, his pole position to P2 was 1.2s difference that's almost more that from P2 to P10 combined!
One of the pristine qualifying performances in Hamilton's career.
mercedes: how is the grip?
ham: yes

Amazing that there are still so many people that have doubt about the natural talent of that guy. He is once again absolutely alone on earth. Amazing masterclass.
And there I was hoping for a Hamilton T cam
They might as well not have a camera in there. Perhaps they don't.
With halo graphics
I Think they chose not to go with it because of the water spray
My comments have been deleted 2 times for asking where was the T cam
Bottas had a T cam and visibility was just awful. Not sure the 2 things are connected but imagine not having an on board of this masterclass...
"it was just the car"
"he's so lucky"
"the FIA hates *insert rival team*"
If you guys don’t understand how fast he is here. Let’s just compare it to Monaco when senna went 1.4 seconds faster then Prost.
Bottas is a great driver but Lewis went 1.4 seconds faster lol... that’s a year
Not to take anything away from this lap, he still outperformed everyone in every straight and corner. But if i'm not totally wrong, he gained most of the time from one corner. And it looks like he really finds grip at the exit of turn 1 and i can not see many drivers going that hard there. He found that spot earlier but had otherwise bad lap so he went for it in the last lap. Weather changes very quick and he was the best today
i actually hope that they release some kind of side by side comparison or with just put clock in there to show where he made the time

He is a 6 time World Champion, he is doing what Schumacher done in the 90’s and early 2000’s with Ferrari.
Good job for him. Ever since 2017 I've been a fan. Something happened when he lost to Nico and he really got his head in the game to maximize his potential. This is Senna like it's so good.
Yup, Would love to have seen Senna vs. Hamilton race together in the rain.

You need to be a 6-times Champ, to whip a car like that. Man-handling thàt Mercedes.
Some of you are bashing Hamilton about 'he has the best car' or 'bottas is just a bad rain driver' or ' F1 is getting boring because Hamilton is winning' the truth and fact is that the car might be the best but if driver ain't good you will not win. I would like to see some of you go into a Mercedes F1 car and win the race against the other drivers. The reality is that you will not win because you are not a good, experienced and talented driver. In every professional sport the best will always win so stop bashing the man he worked really hard to be where he is and for you degrade him is unacceptable. He is not just going out there everyday and winning he is advocating for the environment and fighting for black lives . What are the others doing? Nothing but yet you want to bash Hamilton.
