Wet tracks most of the time shows us how well F1 drivers can control their cars; this is where racecraft determines the front runners. Fast cars on dry tracks become fast cars with slow drivers on wet tracks. I truly enjoyed the dispute for pole position today.
Yeah big point, everything is amped up to the fine edge, steering inputs, throttle control, gear control, racing line, car weight control, natural driver instinct and feeling - and all the other stuff only the drivers can understand.
If you have watched F1 drive to survive; there's this episode where Ocon says he used to practice driving in the rain even when his hands got so cold that he couldnt even move his fingers; but he still managed to do extra laps in rain. Says a lot about him

I’m honestly surprised we even got a qualifying session. But the battle for pole was incredible. Even for 3rd, there were some amazing performances by drivers. Sainz, Russell, Gasly, and Ocon were quite impressive this session. However I gotta give props to Lewis Hamilton. 1.2 seconds ahead of 2nd place Max Verstappen is what the likes of Senna did.
To be fair the track conditions were improving (comparatively speaking) and Max didn't get his last lap in because s🅱️inalla (which was likely from modifying his line when he came up behind Vettel); no way Max would've out qualified Lewis so fair play, but it'd have been at least 0.5 sec closer based on telemetry

Wet tracks most of the time shows us how well F1 drivers can control their cars; this is where racecraft determines the front runners. Fast cars on dry tracks become fast cars with slow drivers on wet tracks. I truly enjoyed the dispute for pole position today.
Yeah big point, everything is amped up to the fine edge, steering inputs, throttle control, gear control, racing line, car weight control, natural driver instinct and feeling - and all the other stuff only the drivers can understand.

I’m honestly surprised we even got a qualifying session. But the battle for pole was incredible. Even for 3rd, there were some amazing performances by drivers. Sainz, Russell, Gasly, and Ocon were quite impressive this session. However I gotta give props to Lewis Hamilton. 1.2 seconds ahead of 2nd place Max Verstappen is what the likes of Senna did.

To be fair the track conditions were improving (comparatively speaking) and Max didn't get his last lap in because s🅱️inalla (which was likely from modifying his line when he came up behind Vettel); no way Max would've out qualified Lewis so fair play, but it'd have been at least 0.5 sec closer based on telemetry
