One of our youngest Rescue Diver's decided he wanted to customize his brand new Mares XR Back Plate. So we helped him out with a little bit of Hydro-Dipping.

We have had a lot of great comments on our FaceBook and Instagram. Its definitely a sure fire way to make sure your equipment doesn't get mixed up with another diver's on a dive trip.

Where would I find that type of sheet and what did you spray on the back before you applied. Just got a back plate and I’d like to also customize but with graphics and lettering.

Once it is completely dry from the Clear Coating, and we have it threaded up, we will cameo it in a future video.
That's legit! Would definitely like to see follow up to see how it holds up. What did you spray on just before dipping?
The Spray was an activator. Once the back plate has been clear coated and threaded up, we will be cameo-ed in a future video.
Nice idea! Just wondering did you scuff the backplate and precoat primer on it? Despite that those are the basic SOPs of hydro-dip, but I don't really want to sand my backplate :(
On this particular one, we pre-coated it with primer.

@@LakeHickoryScuba Wouldn't painting a tank create a problem when taking it in for inspection and hydro testing?
