Wilderness gal from northern 🇨🇦 here… I have experienced winter temperatures ranging from +5ºc to -49ºc. I have several essential pieces of winter gear/clothing that I bought over 30 years ago and they are still going strong. I’ll share a bit of info about these and also the key features that I think are critical in winter clothing. These items keep me warm, comfortable, and loving winter:
    1) A big winter 3/4 length parka that I wear when temperatures drop down below -10ºc. Key features include:
    - removable hood that also cinches down and is soft inside around the face/neck area.
    - chunky double zipper for sitting and driving
    - HUGE inside pockets that hold my toque (hat), mittens, and lip balm for when I am grocery shopping etc.
    2) Toque (hat) that is lined and has ear flaps. Our ears are very sensitive to the cold and are susceptible to frost bite.
    3) Mittens keep our fingers in contact with each other and are therefore much warmer than gloves.
    4) Neck cowl or neck tube… is easier to manage than a scarf and it keeps the throat/neck very warm.
    5) Ice cleats that strap onto your boots. These will keep you upright when it rains and the snow turns into a sheet of ice.
    6) Keep extra winter clothing and a blanket (and food) in your vehicle for emergencies.
I am stoked for Vlogmas Immy!! Thank-you so much for always going the extra mile to share with us all these fun, helpful, and interesting lifestyle tips and info. I sooooo appreciate you!! 💦🌎Ⓜary⛄❄🥶

I feel like thrifting can come with tis own style. It trains your mind to think less on a trend and more by fabric, color, and feel. Love all of your finds, but your grans sweater is just amazing. Same here, the thrift stores in the posh end of town just hit different!

I would love to see more house-decorating videos. Like, what do you do for bed linens and napkins and also do you have tips on decorating second hand for holidays (if you do that!). Also second-hand gifting ideas and any cozy soup or hearty food recipes! Also would be great to like, follow along on one of your hikes, I do love winter hiking and the snow is gorgeous! Maybe some snow gear tips to have a successful hike - are you wearing some small snow grips on your feet in that clip? Hope that helps.

I love that you are starting to incorporate color in your wardrobe! I love the idea of a minimalist capsule wardrobe but I've never been fond of the all neutral everything. One thing that's helped me put together a cohesive wardrobe is figuring out "my colors". These are the colors I gravitate towards, that compliment me, and that I feel best in. I make an effort to seek out pieces in those colors and stick pretty close to them. It has helped me cut down on what I buy and it's so much easier to put things together in the morning and feel great in what I'm wearing.

I did not even know I needed this video. Thank you so much!! I am just starting to shop second hand online. originally I wanted to avoid online shopping, but in Germany (apart from the big cities) there are 0 to none thrift stores. There are some stores where you can donate for people that cannot afford to buy things new. So I do not want to take anything away from them…
My favorite item for autumn and winter is a long sleeved skintight top to go under *everything* 😊

This is so so random but I would love a video on how you clean things you’ve thrifted - especially bigger items like furniture because while I love thrifting, I’m sometimes nervous to bring these bigger items into my home (my partner had a bad moth experience with a second hand cupboard…)
And maybe how you make a festive vegan roast!

Vlogmas idea! You could dedicate certain days to practicing a holiday/winter traditions or trying something new that you've wanted to do this time of year. For example, I've been wanting to give it a go at making natural ornaments/decorations such as dehydrated citrus garlands. Maybe even doing a holiday/winter tradition that your husband has done from his family. Looking forward to vlogmas!!

I recommend placing any fabric Items bought at thrift stores in a hot dryer for 40 min. Then wash as per usual. Bedbugs are prevalent in the Denver area and this will kill all stages of them. If you don't want to run a dryer for one or two items you can store the clothing sealed in plastic until you have more to do at once. Prevention is key.

I went through the same thing! For a while, I tried to fit into the "minimal aesthetic" and got only neutral colors. Recently, I've been having so much fun mixing patterns and colors (still on the muted side, but I'm trying!) and it's connecting more to my inner child :') You have a lovely mix of winter layers! Glad you're enjoying snowy CO!

Great video! I've started snapping up second-hand merino tops in my size online. I'm the coldest person ever, even though it's not *that* cold where I am compared to you! I'd like to add more high neck and turtle neck tops, but I find it hard finding tops that are long enough to be tucked into trousers or leggings for extra warmth - and I'm only 4'11"! My best recent second-hand buys have been a Patagonia Better Sweater and a Banana Republic wool coat. And yes, lots of layers!

my bf and i moved from Michigan to San Diego 7 years ago, and i was surprised by 2 things: that a lot of places here don't have carpeting and that it can actually get pretty darn cold (obvs not Michigan cold, but still enough for someone who gets chilly if a small breeze kicks up - you'll likely never see me without a hoodie even if it's 80 degrees out). no carpet and cooler weather = cooler/chilly floors, and I've found that my favorite, must have thing in this situation is COZY SLIPPERS 😸 i found the cutest pair, brand new, at a thrift store. they're washable (a must with "hardwood" floors that don't hold dust, dander, hair, etc like carpet does) and they have adorable hedgehogs on them, some of which have a little pear on their backs (prickly pears!)🤣

I'm so curious what the Goodwill on Broadway & Archer used to be because the inside of the building seems very fancy. One of the hardest layers I've struggled with in Colorado is a lightweight, breathable wind jacket for the windy season when it's still hot out. You freeze when the wind blows and then overheat as soon as it stops 😂

I live in Ontario Canada. I find it really hard to have a small wardrobe because of the changing weather. Where I live, in the wilderness of northern Canada, it is very rural… no pavement where I live and also no cell reception… you get the idea, eh? We all live in big clunky winter boots for 5- 6 months of the year as warm feet are essential. When we go to a social event or, in some cases, even to work we all have nice winter slippers (with treads) or lightweight indoor shoes that we wear to a community event or a social gathering. I’m just curious, does anybody else do this where they live? I love to have big inside pockets on my winter coat to carry my slippers to social gatherings. 🌎💦Ⓜary⛄❄🥶
