A small house provides big space for togetherness. Less walls and less rooms means less separation… more collective energy gathers amongst those who are spending time together in the same room. Like you, Immy, we have a cozy common room that has many huge windows. My partner and I chill out there every day. We love seeing the mountain views, the wild bird feeding stations, and the wildlife that ambles through our back yard. I recall you saying a few months ago (before you moved overseas) that you don’t think you’re very good at ‘putting things together’. Well, I think you’ve done a fabulous job and I see charm, coziness, and comfort in every room. Thanks for this welcoming house tour. The fact that you feel the need to justify baking three cookies is ridiculous - people need to calm down and focus on their own lives instead of trying to be an armchair expert in someone else's. I loved this house tour! It's so hard finding pieces secondhand that all go together, but everything in your home feels warm, cosy, and cohesive. Congratulations!
I love your cosy home! And it's so nice to hear you say "my husband" and to name all the things you have both brought into your first home together. It speaks unexplainable happiness...
About the christmas tree; I once bought a potted christmas tree with the same intention as you to use it each year. However, as it was used to standing outside, bringing it inside quickly made it look very sad and it ultimately died. So make sure to water it enough as the needles will experiene more evaporation than what it is accustomed to. Also acclimatizing it by only leaving it indoors for a couple of hours each day for a period before permanently bringing it inside might be beneficial. Also, I am loving the recent videos 🎉
Agree, I had the same experience. The tree did not like the temperature changes and did not survive despite watering frequently. It's still something great to try, and maybe it works! Your tips are very helpful!
Just making this comment as I was baking multiple things today and was not being organized and efficient about it so was running a hot oven waiting for the next thing more than I usually would….. it’s winter. It’s cold. Not the most efficient way to heat a room but that extra heat is not being wasted! In the summer I am much more careful and organized!
What you buy is way more important than what you do in your home. I remember in my environmental class from last semester I read something like 98% of co2 emissions were on the industrial level. So the best thing you can do is eat less animals and buy less things (you as a general term for people, this is not directed at you) it's like one coils stop showering for a year or buy one less steak.
The thing I love about having land for a garden is the planning during the winter. I love thinking about what we’ll realistically eat, how I could organize the veg and if any companion planting can occur. I sketch out possibilities, draw and watercolor plans…this coming year I’m going up with a lot of vertical fruits due to space limitations and will be trellising cucumbers, cantaloupes and pie pumpkins. Then I’ll do cowpeas up as well. On the ground will be black beans and beets. Play around, especially because you’ll be starting from scratch!
You sound like an incredibly creative person!! I have always struggled a little with watercolours but you've inspired me to try out your method and give designing and planning the area a real go over winter! Thank you!
@@SustainablyVegan remember, it’s just you playing with ideas-it’s not about Art-have fun and brainstorm. Use crayons or markers if that feels less intimidating. We recently got solar on our house and are becoming conscious of our energy usage as well. To the oven question, I was interested to find out that the energy efficiency depends on how long you use it for. For instance, if you're just toasting a bagel or whatever, then a toaster or countertop toaster oven is better because it uses less power to come to temperature. However, if you're making several batches of cookies or baking for longer periods of time, the big oven is better because it is more insulated and it will maintain the temperatures for longer with less power. I kind of do the same as you, but for me if I'm baking one thing for a meal I just make my entire meal in the oven. Usually some sort of baked main course (lasagna, casserole, etc) plus a tray of veggies. Anyway, it's very interesting trying to work out the best choice in each area. Sometimes the answers aren't obvious, like with the oven. I was surprised that it is sometimes the better choice.
@@Larissa_KD Yeah they will, and because I don't fully understand the science behind it to explain it, here's what I found on Google ;) "Drying on a line in winter is actually a form of freeze-drying thanks to sublimation - or ice evaporating from a solid state. When the weather warms up and you start your garden, I recommend planting a sunflower or two, to attract bees for pollination. If you have an aversion to the bees (I always did), you can plant the sunflower(s) in a far part of the garden. The bees will find their way from there. :)

Welcome to your home! I love that you have the hydroponic garden inside. I have a different one. I love being able to grow some food year round. As for outside, I just checked out a book at the library called The Postage Stamp Vegetable Garden by Karen Newcomb. I have only flipped through it, but feel it’s a great resource to get you started. I love Permiculture, I’m not practicing on large land because I don’t currently have the space. I do as you do with the leaves. I grow what I can in containers (our soil needs to be built up) and I grow what I can vertically. We have a very strange backyard microclimate. It’s west facing, but entirely covered with the canopy of the neighbors maple tree (I’m in a townhouse). Vertically is my favorite way to make use of space. It’s amazing what you can grow. Have fun!
Such a sweet video, Immy! Your house looks very cozy. Definitely smart to get the essentials so you can start to feel comfortable in your new space, but also okay not to rush with decorating it how you want :) It's super fun that you're doing vlogmas, I hope you're enjoying it. Happy holidays to you & your husband and your family!
I love the small space - you have been so intentional with your purchases. My sitting room has a real mish mash if furniture atm and I need to sort it out. As usual you are an inspiration!
I live in denver co! My husband and i love small homes and we ended up in a townhome which unfortunately does not have a yard but it was in our budget 🤷♀️
We got incredibly lucky with this home - it was actually the more affordable option of all the places we saw because it was a little further out! We weren't interested in living in downtown and we saved a lot of money through that choice!
In a couple of years I will be moving out to the Denver/ Colorado Springs area with my daughter and her husband. My grandson already lives in Denver. Do you have any words of wisdom concerning living in the area ?
@@patriciafisher3108 we live in aurora technically but fairly close to whats considered the outskirts of denver near one of the hmarts and more ethnic foods. If you ever make it down towards Colorado Springs--Pikes Peak area you should check out a vegan diner in the mountains called "Ferns Diner and Drinkery" it's in Cascade, Co. Lots of trails near there and it's at the base of Pikes Peak!
Such a beautiful home! All those windows and that garden make it seem so much bigger than the square footage says. Question: Living with someone who isn't as conscious about being wasteful but it is not due to lack of care, but to extreme OCD and germaphobe (like touches one thing and has to wash hands again and will only use paper towels since reusable towels are dirty to them).
This is the size of the apartment I just bought! I am a little insecure that my friends have bought bigger, but I'm trying think of the benefits: less stuff, less energy costs!
I love your small home! I live in a similar size house roughly 600 square foot. But just struggled to figure how to set it up and store our stuff, the house is sort of falling apart and hasn’t been taken care properly in a while but we’re renting. I hope if it gets fixed up I can look as beautiful as your place does

here in Finland a house of 68= sqft (+-63 m2 ) is a normal size house , we have smaller and of course bigger but that size is not consider small particularly, I subscribed because i did like the video very much
Your home is very cozy and I love the garden space. There is so much that you will be able to do with it next spring once you have a chance to see what comes up. I have the room for raised beds (all made from free HT pallet wood) but this year I started so many seedlings that I ran out of space in the beds. Wound up planting dozens of starts directly in the ground in between perennials. Found that those actually did much better. We haven't had much rain here in the Chicago area (zone 5B) and I think plants directly in the ground have better access to water since the soil doesn't dry out as much as in a raised bed. So don't worry too much about getting/making planters. You will be perfectly fine growing in the ground as long as you amend the soil a bit. And it looks like you're getting a great start by not getting rid of the leaves. They are garden gold and there are probably many neighbors who will happily share theirs 😊
The house is a little jewel, I'm sohappy for you both ☺️ As for the oven and the cookies, I'll admit I had a thought about efficiency, but I know I can trust you to be coherent with your values ☺️ Christmas tree: it will grow and it will probably need a bigger pot at one point (it'll let you notice when it's "suffering"), then it'll keep growing. Our Christmas tree, Charlie, is now 8, slightly bigger than me and had its first fircones (baby is growing 🥲), but I need to find somewhere in a wood where they'll let me plant it, cos I can't keep it any longer in a pot 😅 Anyway, if you ever decide to plant it in soil, out of a pot, remember: never near a house or a road, as their roots are so shallow and will mess up with floors/pavements and so on 😅
Congratulations on your marriage and on your arrival to the US and your new life, and beautiful home! I have especially appreciated this home tour as we are researching AUD plans currently, and this one is exactly what I've been looking for! I'm wonderfing if yoy could you possibly show what the outside of your house looks like? Most of the ADU"S I've seen are contemporary looking and this cottage style is exactly what we would like to build in our daughter's back yard in Eugene,. with all those french windows for tons of light, which is the most important element here in the PNW. Someone did an amazing job on your place so thank you so much for the tour. Welcome home!
If I saw well, you have a small gynura aurantiaca :) I love it! Those plushy 'green-violet' leaves are amazing! Had some in my youth and later was gifted one and also propagated one from a botanical garden. They give good vibess and good mood with the way they look :) For the rest- it is an adorable, small home - and you can tell you put lots of thoughts in this. I bet it will become more and more homy within time and with all the love you have for it each other and this place :) Cheers!
Omg thank you for telling me the name!! It didn't have one on the sticker it came with and we were worried if we didn't know what it was, then we might not be able to take proper care of it. Thank you for your kind comment, it means a lot you took the time! xx
@@SustainablyVegan happy for once I could help! You have teached me so many things, I think could never give back even in the slightest! About the name-I don't know why, not many knows that name, even in the shops they sell them it is rarely listed. Took me several years to get it too:) Have a wonderful day!
So I've seen a lot of people talk about how the Lomi is basically green washing because its an overpriced dehydrator. There is no actual compost at the end of each cycle, just dried out food scraps chopped down into small bits. What are your thoughts on it?
A very beautiful space. And Great for 2 or 3. Less space does bring you closer, and easy to take care of, but in a fam like ours, it is a cause of chaos. Ha! I have always loved smaller spaces but we are about to bring our fourth child into our 600 sq ft place and it's a nightmare. My kids all share a room from 14yrs old to 1 yr old, soon to add a new born. We have no closets, no pantry, no storage. My eldest has NO privacy, and it's impossible to tidy up anything and set things in order. We absolutely hate it and Our Christmas wish for years has been, space for our growing family!!!
@@SustainablyVegan yees, definitely 😊 I follow you for maybe soon to be 2 years however I just rarely comment 😅🙈😂 really loving your videos and content 🖤
When you said you were moving to the US, I guessed Boulder/Denver area because they have some decent sustainable practices there for different things. Welcome to the US West! I found out that Target here in NM started carrying Reel toilet paper fyi, I’m guessing they probably have it in CO too.
Really enjoyed the video, and all the others you do as well, thank you so much! :) Since you're probably a bit busy at the moment with the vlogs, question to the community: Anyone can tell me what the song is called that starts playing at around 4:55? Sounds like Bon Iver but I try to find it for a while now without success - would be really happy if someone could help! :)
I'm mostly curious about you sharing a work space..My husband and I could never share a space when we both worked from home because of the amount of meetings/calls we both had.
Love the house tour, Immy. Your home looks to be a very cozy space. It has character. ♥ I would love an outdoor space like that. It would be heaven to me, as it looks quite private. You are blessed indeed. 😇
Thank-you Jemma for reminding me of how precious a private outdoor space really is. We live on 11.5 private acres in the wilderness with a huge deck and a massive yard, two gardens, a greenhouse, and a multipurpose workshop which is my partner’s lovable heated work space and also a musicians jam area. I take this all for granted sometimes and I really should be more appreciated of all the things I have right outside my front (and back) door. It is warming up here and snowing today. Hope you are having a great day. Ⓜary😍
Who did you moved Lomi from UK? Just in suitcase? I really want to get one, but I'm not sure what to do with it, if I will have to change country again...
How is it sharing a wall with neighbors or living technically on the same property? Your space is so nice! In-unit laundry, updated kitchen, and garden space in a nice city? It must be quite expensive, but it seems worth it. :)
Love your videos! I would suggest reading Gaia's Garden : A Guide to Home-scale Permaculture by Toby Hemenway This book is amazing, it taught me so much about natural gardening. Happy holidays! 🤍
Why not just have a waterproof pretty one? Do they not sell them? Why the extra step? Was it always like this? Im sorry if its to many questions about shower curtains 😅
I honeslty have no idea, I deferred to my husband on this because we have always had glass as a shower "curtain." I assumed we only needed one, but he got two! I guess some people just prefer the look of a softer material one?
@@TristessaEm LOL Personally, I don't like the look of a plastic shower curtain so that's why I use two, with a pretty fabric one that hides the plastic liner. 😊 Plus, I don't think I have ever seen a pretty liner. Not saying they aren't out there, but they are usually just plain white or beige or clear.
I'm surprised you choose to have a dryer since it's so bad for the environment. Though, I know this is very typical in America compared to Europe. Do you feel it's totally necessary?

What garden has so much potential! I container garden and love it!
Love your channel and everything you stand for! Hoping to achieve this in my own life!!
Really nice and cozy, thoughtful 💕
@@SustainablyVegan well we are technically in Aurora which is further out and "undesirable" in many peoples eyes. But we do what we gotta do :)
@@patriciafisher3108 we live in aurora technically but fairly close to whats considered the outskirts of denver near one of the hmarts and more ethnic foods.
We actually just moved from the lone tree area recently so im not sure if im too helpful in giving advice lol
If theres any specific questions you have ill be happy to answer them
If you ever make it down towards Colorado Springs--Pikes Peak area you should check out a vegan diner in the mountains called "Ferns Diner and Drinkery" it's in Cascade, Co. Lots of trails near there and it's at the base of Pikes Peak!
Your house looks great!! It has such a calm, welcoming vibe 😊 I'm surprised by how many things you were able to find second-hand 😃
What a cutie patootie place! I'm excited to watch your journey in that garden
Such a LOVELY home you have made for yourselves! ❤
This is the size of the apartment I just bought! I am a little insecure that my friends have bought bigger, but I'm trying think of the benefits: less stuff, less energy costs!
Oh wow congratulations!! Yes I totally agree, our bills are pretty small and it cost a lot less to furnish the place too!
I love your small home! I live in a similar size house roughly 600 square foot. But just struggled to figure how to set it up and store our stuff, the house is sort of falling apart and hasn’t been taken care properly in a while but we’re renting. I hope if it gets fixed up I can look as beautiful as your place does
Hi - Really enjoy watching you - congrats on your wedding ! I wish you both lots Of love & happiness for the future (all that you wish for yourselves!) - Its a huge thing to do - moving to a new country etc. Your new home lots fab - very cosy! Are you renting or Buying? What things do you miss most? Have you been homesick at all? You always seem so calm & organised - Loved your food prepping for Winter x :)
Thank You!
Noted all your questions for another vlogmas video! But in short, we are renting (definitely can't afford to buy right now, and we just moved here so would be a little mad to buy). I am actually highly disorganised - its amazing I get anything done haha but I am quite calm except for when i'm in a really good mood then I am high energy!
@@SustainablyVegan Hi - Kind of you to reply Thank You! Love your new home - yes it is expensive to buy - I agree it would be mad - you are being sensible - nice that you have the outside space too - so excited for you building a new home too - I love being home & making it all cosy & enjoy walking with my dog so like it when you go out & about too - I am newish to eating Plant Based etc but really enjoying it - why didn't I do it sooner? haha -- I am rattling on - sorry ! ....wishing you & your hubby a very Happy Xmas! (1st Xmas in your new home together ! ..are! ..) All the Best ! Gill :) x
Beautiful house lmmy l love your dining set its really nice an the sun comes in that's a huge bonus all together it's a wonderful home,Congrats guys 😊🌏🌏
here in Finland a house of 68= sqft (+-63 m2 ) is a normal size house , we have smaller and of course bigger but that size is not consider small particularly, I subscribed because i did like the video very much
I love to watch your vlogmas! I enjoy the calm feeling that it gives me and just wanted to let you know that. Hugs from Germany :)
And I really really appreciate it ! xx
Your home is lovely. I love the way you buy thrifted items most. So you don’t have a “living room” , a place to sit with company ?
The house is a little jewel, I'm sohappy for you both ☺️
As for the oven and the cookies, I'll admit I had a thought about efficiency, but I know I can trust you to be coherent with your values ☺️
Christmas tree: it will grow and it will probably need a bigger pot at one point (it'll let you notice when it's "suffering"), then it'll keep growing. Our Christmas tree, Charlie, is now 8, slightly bigger than me and had its first fircones (baby is growing 🥲), but I need to find somewhere in a wood where they'll let me plant it, cos I can't keep it any longer in a pot 😅
Anyway, if you ever decide to plant it in soil, out of a pot, remember: never near a house or a road, as their roots are so shallow and will mess up with floors/pavements and so on 😅
Congratulations on your marriage and on your arrival to the US and your new life, and beautiful home! Welcome home!
your house is beautiful!!
Thank you so much 😀
If I saw well, you have a small gynura aurantiaca :) I love it! Those plushy 'green-violet' leaves are amazing! Had some in my youth and later was gifted one and also propagated one from a botanical garden. They give good vibess and good mood with the way they look :)
For the rest- it is an adorable, small home - and you can tell you put lots of thoughts in this. I bet it will become more and more homy within time and with all the love you have for it each other and this place :)
Cheers!
The house is really beautiful 😍😊
We got SO lucky finding this place!
@@SustainablyVegan yees, definitely 😊
I follow you for maybe soon to be 2 years however I just rarely comment 😅🙈😂 really loving your videos and content 🖤
@@dominika1203 I really appreciate you xx
Can you do a video about how you work out and your fitness goals?
When you said you were moving to the US, I guessed Boulder/Denver area because they have some decent sustainable practices there for different things. Welcome to the US West! I found out that Target here in NM started carrying Reel toilet paper fyi, I’m guessing they probably have it in CO too.
Really enjoyed the video, and all the others you do as well, thank you so much! :) Since you're probably a bit busy at the moment with the vlogs, question to the community:
Anyone can tell me what the song is called that starts playing at around 4:55? Sounds like Bon Iver but I try to find it for a while now without success - would be really happy if someone could help! :)
Would love a review on the Lomi!
I'm mostly curious about you sharing a work space..My husband and I could never share a space when we both worked from home because of the amount of meetings/calls we both had.
Bless you
Can you tell us more about how you propagated your chinese money plants, please? I would love to know how to do that with mine! Thanks!
Water those plants as much as they need! It is so dry here, they might even need extra water.
Hi there, as I'm moving soon, I'm thinking about not to put in my kitchen a drainer for dishes over the sink. What do you think about it?💖
This reminds me of my husband and mines first apartment it was only 480SF but it was perfect ❤
Immy you and your hubby have a cute little house and you have it furnished nicely. ❤ Our house is a little smaller than yours ours is 575 sq. ft.
Ⓜary😍

Its a very cute housexx
Who did you moved Lomi from UK? Just in suitcase?
I really want to get one, but I'm not sure what to do with it, if I will have to change country again...
Beautiful
How is it sharing a wall with neighbors or living technically on the same property? Your space is so nice! In-unit laundry, updated kitchen, and garden space in a nice city? It must be quite expensive, but it seems worth it. :)
Two of my favourite words in the English language: “Yard Sale”!! 💦🌎Ⓜary💕⛄
what are you doing in the states?
Love your videos!
I would suggest reading Gaia's Garden : A Guide to Home-scale Permaculture by Toby Hemenway
This book is amazing, it taught me so much about natural gardening.
Happy holidays! 🤍
Okay, I have to ask cause I keep seeing it in other videos and series/movies. Whats up with the double shower curtain? Why are there two of them? 🤔
Yes, what Kellygarrett4249 said. 😊♥ A waterproof liner and a pretty non-waterproof outer one.
I thought your house was big until now. It looks big
Love u Immey 💓 and your beautiful new home...love fr cananda
so nice👌🏻👍👌🏻
Are you renting or did you buy your home
Renting!
Wait. 680 sqf is considered small???
Only in the US, to me it’s normal sized
💙💚💛
I'm surprised you choose to have a dryer since it's so bad for the environment. Though, I know this is very typical in America compared to Europe. Do you feel it's totally necessary?
Well we didn’t actually choose, it came with the house we are renting.
