James said this video was not edited, he wanted people to hear what he was feeling. Wasn’t long after this video a family member donated a kidney to his dad 😊. Great reaction, as usual🎉
I've watched so many reactions to this song. Cried each time. It is such a powerful song and performance. Glad you got to hear it.
I have too, and it never fails to hit me. What a tribute to love.
Same!
Everyone was in tears in the crew making the video. His dad, a true military man had to tell them "hey, I'm not dead yet!"
Your recognition of his pain is something I haven’t seen in other reactions. Good on ya. 😔
James Blunt never fails to be bravely and brutally honest in baring all, but if you look at his military life before this it makes sense coz he's really seen some true horror and it probably gives you perspective on what matters - it comes.out in his music in a way you don't get from many.
Oh, No Bravery now has a lot more context...
His father was also a military officer, which gives more context to the above.
James and his father were both military men. James was actually a tank commander in the first gulf war. When he was being deployed, his father would say: "You're not my son, I'm not your father, we're just two grown men saying goodbye...". This song breaks me every time I hear it. The video was shot in one take, because James wanted the emotion to be raw and genuine. His father was diagnosed with terminal kidney disease and this was written as a goodbye. In a positive irony, the song was so popular, it got the attention of a distant relative who turned out to be a match for a kidney donation and his dad is now doing well. James said at the time my father is my hero and still is. This song is extremely emotional and very special 👍🏻😁🏴
This is the first time his dad had heard the song. They are both military men and emotions didn’t always come easy for them but his Dad had a very small chance of survival at the time this was made. A distant cousin saw the video and came forward and was a match :):)
James Blunt always hits hard. He writes from personal experiences and he has experienced some brutal things. "No Bravery" comes to mind, him writing about what he saw while leading a tank battalion through Kosovo during the war in 1998. The war footage shown in this live version is what James personally recorded while over there: ua-cam.com/video/gh41Wxez9PE/v-deo.html
Or his sheer genius poetry put to music like "The Greatest": ua-cam.com/video/mvy-TzYe2zo/v-deo.html
Oh I've been waiting for this reaction - thank you to the person who requested it! Incredible song and video
I lost my dad to cancer many years ago when I was a teenager, and this song always brings him to mind and chokes me up.
If you’d like something a little upbeat for Father’s Day, though, I can heartily recommend Aus band Weddings Parties Anything and their song Fathers Day. It’ll warm your heart, I’m sure.
Hi Nic, isn’t this song a gift to humanity that he was willing to express such raw emotion, especially for men who struggle to express their feelings ( or anyone really). I think this song has connected so many adult children with their parents and be able to say difficult things that need to be said before it’s to late.
James dad was actually dying from kidney disease & this was his tribute & farewell to his dad. Thankfully his dad received a donor kidney & is doing okay now. If this song doesn't get to you emotionally, there is something wrong with you. This song resonates with me as I was my dad's caregiver for 5 years until he passed away 3 years ago.
I read somewhere that the donor was a distant (now close, emotionally, for obvious reasons) cousin also named James? Either way, what an incredible story.
He was down to 10 % of the kidney …
His dad's cousin saw this video and reached out
@@DavidGowers Donor was also names Charles as is James blunts father.
This is what James Blunt does amazingly, conveying emotion with his voice. Very beautiful and emotional song!
Father’s Day is in September here in Australia - Happy Father’s Day to all our US dads especially Dominick’s daddy ❤️ This is so raw and emotional, I’m so glad his Dad got a kidney and survived. Shout out to DJ Turtle ❤️
Hug those you love, tell em how ya really feel. Thanks for doing this Nick. Genuine reaction, as always.
Thanks for requesting. This song is so powerful and raw.

You always have a special place in everyones heart who works on this channel.. 🙏🏻 ♥
Incredible. There are songs that just so clearly illustrate how powerful music is when it’s completely authentic.
I bawl my eyes out every time ........
This song just hits you in all the feels.
Powerful song. Brought me to tears 😢 So glad his Dad survived.
I was waiting for you to watch this. I knew it would touch your gentle loving heart!
I’ve seen this video bring many people to tears. I can’t stop the ugly crying every time I hear it. Pure emotion and love and such pain too. No need for fancy video clips, just honest and heartfelt.
Congratulations, you have a soul.
What am emotional song. And such an extraordinary voice
I can't do PayPal etc but I did comment when I first heard this song that it would touch you to your soul and I was waiting for it to get requested by someone who could afford to pay for you to react to it. Music touches me in alot of the same ways it does you and I knew you'd really feel this one. Love and peace.
Not a dry eye in tha house! Beautiful song and emotions.
Embrace every moment you have with your father. When your dad dies, it's just hard. For a LONG time.
A beautiful song ❤❤❤
Good Song Dj 🐢 Turtle ‼️
Emotional Charged and Engaging Song there ✌
James Blunt Style 🔥
My eyes well up every time I hear this song. Great song and thankfully a better ending than that what he thought was happening when he recorded this song and video.
Ive never ugly cried from a song this bad...i cant help but to think of my old man who put his life on the line in Vietnam and was welcomed home with spit in the face
I just lost my brother a week a go, his funeral ⚰️ is tomorrow.
This song is so hard to listen to ❤️❤️❤️🙏🦋🦋🦋
A big strong man like me , tour to tears my friend xx
The thing you are feeling I believe is humanity.
Honestly, it's not my taste in music but I genuinely appreciate the emotional maturity here. It's beautiful.
WOW that’s all I can say
“Monsters” was a heartfelt tribute to his father. The emotional track reflects the deep bond between them and a touching farewell. In the music video for “Monsters,” James Blunt sings directly to the camera, his eyes welling up with tears...The video is so powerful because sitting beside James Blunt is his real-life dad, Colonel Charles Blount. who was a former cavalry officer, battling stage 4 chronic kidney disease. The song captures the raw emotions of facing mortality and saying the things one wants to say to a loved one before it’s too late 💗 I can never get through this, without crying..........
Just about every reacted has cried during this extreme Heartbreaker
Gets me every time. I read that the whole crew were in tears while filming.
😭 Beautiful. I feel this, thanks for bringing this song to us and for also being touched by it.
Thank you for your honest and heartfelt reaction.
I've watched this so many times and cry every time.
Saw an interview where he said he was in tears, the crew was in tears and his father was only one with dry eyes
I never been the biggest fan of James blunt. Maybe because the song "Your beautiful" got played so many times a day on the radio and everywhere you went...
But this song/video is something else. I saw it for the first time a few weeks ago i had no idea what i was in for, this song hit me like a fridge to the face.. What a song.. Its filled with so much emotion and it really makes it hard to keep the tears back..
The day we're losing a parent is the day we all dread. Unfortunately it its a part of life.
After this video his dad did found a donor, a distant cousin. And he is doing good now. Thank God..
Shout out to Dj 🐢!
Edit: R. I. P Dj Turtle. Miss you buddy.
I’ve found that the best songs in an artist’s catalogue are often the ones that don’t get radio play. Another song that’s James at his best is “No Bravery” where he describes the horrors he witnessed at war.
James actually had a pivotal role in preventing surefire WW3 by disobeying an order to try to take an airport held by the Russians. Later, he was a member of the Queen’s Guard, guarded the Queen Mother’s coffin, and was part of her funeral procession.
Try Blunt's "Goodby My Lover" live.
@@gerrym.9354 Ok i will, Thanks!
Thank you lovely for your reaction. x ❤
The line "I'm not your son you're not my father we're just 2 grown men saying goodbye" was what he dad said to him obviously in reverse, when he said goodbye to James when James went to the Kosovo war where he served as a tank commander. All proceeds to the song went to the veterans charity Help for Heros.
It’s an epic song, and tears are expected
So this song was a LITERAL life saver. Interesting
Love you brother ❤️ this gets me every time
This just gets to me everytime. I don't even know my dad
I have heard this song many times, i am crying every time, if you don't cry you don't have a heart ♥
Very powerful James voice is soulful an he is actually going through at the time life changing issues with his dad. The emotion was caught on film. James has a gift an he’s a special man
❤️
If you can watch this and not tear up, you ain't human man......so powerful
James and his father were both serving soldiers. James said his father was his hero. Every one in the studio was crying during this. James refused to clean the track up in production so we get all the raw emotion unfiltered.
What's up man! I like your reaction video and I enjoy your video. You did a great job bud! keep up all of your hard work
My dad had cancer when I first heard this song and it was not looking good, I felt all the words in this song so much. I still cry when I hear it.
I felt that too fam shit slapped different
You can see his face we can't.
Yip... hits deep 😢 Like you said, the raw emotion... heartbreaking! Bless you!💗
This song and Kelly Clarkson's Piece By Piece have me in tears every - single - time!
Love your reactions. You´re the best. So raw and pure. So real and touching.
This Video IS REAL LIFE!!!
You need to show the video 👌
Great reaction, a very emotional song, it brings me to tears.
I don't know how anyone makes it through this without shedding tears.
I don’t know anyone that hear this and doesn’t gets emotional
You’re the first reactor I’ve seen who has actually read up,about the song before reacting to it.
Beautiful song and great reaction, James certainly makes emotional, deep songs. You should check out his new song 'the girl that never was' official video, I think it came out just a few months ago. Thanks and have a blessed day!
as a kidney transplant patient I am thankful for the gift of organ Donors. I was blessed with my kidney transplant going on to 11 years now I'm 36 and I am beyond blessed. I hope his father gets a transplant.
This song makes me call my son over for a cuddle.
The beautiful thing about this song, for me, is that James really did chase his fathers monsters away! Because of this song, a distant cousin came forward and was a match for his dad. Just beautiful.
When this was recorded, it was the first time his father ever heard the song, and James insisted that the video not be edited in any way.
Thanks for researching the back story first ❤
Hi Nick I understand why you fade the video etc....but if it's ok can you put a blank screen or plain curtain behind it? As some of it is on the wardrobe and some is over the pic on the wall...which make it almost impossible to see anything at all. Just asking...don't hate me. What I could see was your reaction to this hauntingly beautiful song....it stirs up so much emotion doesn't it. All proceeds from this went to find a cure for Kidney disease...
❤️❤️❤️
I'm glad you don't know how this feels from personal experience. Just remember before its to late spend every possible moment you can with your dad. Do things with him and ask him all the questions you want to know while he's still here. Its to late for me and I regret everything single day that I didn't spend time with him or even talk to him on the phone. Please give him a hug and make sure he knows what he means to you.
James has a beautiful voice, but in this video his emotions impacted his voice. For ME, I think that made the video all the more powerful. Many people cry watching this video.
Great reaction, my friend.....just great....😢
☮️💙💙💙😢
I’ve had a bit of weed and a few beers, regardless, I just shed some happy tears! ❤️🇦🇺
Please react to. No Bravery by James.
I hope you’ve had an opportunity to revisit this song since losing your dad 🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦
This one is tough to get through
I know this is a father and son but it hits me hard, my father died alone without getting to say goodbye because we had a rough relationship and i was selfish and and didn't visit him. I don't know if he died thinking i didn't love him. I will punish myself until my last breath
I can’t ever get through this song without crying. Especially after losing my mom recently.
If you haven’t heard it yet another super emotional song you should check out is
Craig Morgan - The father, my son and the Holy Ghost
Watch James own reaction to this video => "James Blunt reacts"
I also recommend 'Goodbye My Lover' and 'Carry You Home'!
Bro the song is just sad, buy thr picture of Kobe in the background is just HEARTBREAKING to think about
I don't know why they're getting so strict I wouldn't have heard of half the music I hear if it wasn't for you guys reacting so they're screwed up dude, I'm so glad you looked at the meaning to this video before you reacted to it some people don't have a clue it's so honest
xxx
This song came out the same week my father died...fucking amazing song but it's a hard one to listen to...
They did the video in one take..I'm serious.
You cheated reading about it first. I didn’t and it was like being hit hard. I lost my parents at 44 and 51, this song still gets me.
Coldplay - Everglow [Single Version] - (Official Video) react please
The emotionality and the emotional disconnect ..that juxtaposition... "I'm not your son, you're not my father, we're just two grown men saying goodbye. No need to forgive, no need to forget, I know your mistakes and you know mine."
Geez... I'm just listening to every reaction I can find and crying ugly tears each time. Hits a little differently for those of us who had less than ideal relationships with our parents...just hurts man.
You're beautiful
JOHN FARNHAM ua-cam.com/video/aoA5iiu5Btg/v-deo.html like no other time
No he lost his father

Reading what the song is about ruins the whole reaction! Unfortunately this is a thumbs down straight off the bat!
