Cape May, NJ was my childhood summer happy place. The boardwalk arcade where I spent a king’s ransom as a kid in the early 80s is still there. Sadly, it’s a shadow of its former self, with few video games anymore- even the combo Ms. Pac Man/Galaga cabinet they kept around as a sop to us old timers has disappeared within the last year or two. But I can still walk around in there, point to a spot on the floor, and tell you what game stood there during the Golden Age.
this is such a cozy feeling video. I can almost smell that fresh salt water, hardwood floor, and yeah as you put it "dank" arcade... the only thing missing was hearing a "and here is what I spent my time playing" section! Hope it was as much of a blast to be there as it was watching this!
This was great! Not sure how I missed this. I'm quite sure I had notifications on but they were not. This isn't entirely different than my experience growing up a little more south of you. 🙂
Glad you got to see it eventually! UA-cam stopped promoting this video pretty much immediately, so unless you double-checked your subscriber feed there's a good chance they never served it up to you.
What I feel some arcades lack is a sense of "age" to them. They feel too caught up in a certain theme or era. Arcades should feel like a timeline where even if machines are decades apart, putting them side by side feel more authentic than matching them with a machine of the same age.
Your channel is criminally underrated. Great video.
Thanks! Make sure to tell your friends :)

Thanks for this video, really great look into this arcade and some history alongside 👌
Its good to know these places still exist. Every 'arcade' I've stepped into in the past decade or two has been a disappointment.
