I wasn't using clipping masks in my illustrations but now I understand better the advantage of using them in some cases. Especially for that rim light effect. Cool video, thank you for sharing!

You can print screen and press ctrl+v to place any picture to illustrator. Then create small rectangles and use eyedropper tool to pick colors from image for each one of them. This is how you can pick and create your pallets 😃
