This was such fun time to be able to experience up close a diamond find even though they found it earlier before I arrived! It was cool to see the confirmation process! To me these Diamonds are tough to spot, makes me wonder how many people find them but just don’t identify them in their buckets.
It happens every day most people take their centers home and bring the diamonds they find back on their next trip to have them identified and registered.
I’m tryin’ Bryan! Healing. Next surgery finally in 2 weeks after 4 reschedules. Then after knee, I think I could join you by the Fall. But not diamonds. I won’t be able to see them and that’s way too much heavy stuff and all. But we’re gonna meet, I swear! I think you’re right that most people overlook a lot. Or I could just meet up with Toni in her private dig pit - your backyard! LOL!
I found a diamond there in the 90's! Not big, or worth much, but I will never forget it. Than you for sharing your experience and getting the word out. Fantastic family place!

Once you see that shine your first diamond gives off you'll be able to spot them. Anyway what they aren't showing is them going through the buckets of centers they pulled. That's where they are more than likely to find one on a cookie sheet under the light of the kitchen table.

I think the holes are to keep it from getting vapor locked in clay and water. It seems counterintuitive and there could be loss, but it's much more productive than fighting with your shovel all day!

Crater of Diamonds, been going there for YEARS! My uncle would scoop me up and we would go for a 3 day hunt. and that was back in late 60s into the 70s.. Been a rock hound ever since! - The Crater of Diamonds ORG started back in the 40s

That was so interesting to watch Bryan, I would not be able to.pick a diamond out of the separated material no matter how I tried, unless it was a large one lol. The young lady ought to use the shoulder harness to lift those buckets if she doesn't want a damaged spine like I have, believe me it's no joke when you are older and cant get around on your own feet. Good work. here in finland we have no mines open to the public, but we do have small diamonds here and there for those who can bear to look - I have found some in my homemade sluice / highbanker.
My sister and went there because it was a 14 year dream. Unfortunately it was so bloody windy and cold my eyes kept watering I couldn't see a thing. We stayed only a little while. While that was disappointing, we went to Twin Creek Mine and found SO MANY amazing quartz crystals in awesome condition. Yes I paid for a pocket and it was worth it.
I always thought it would be fun to surprise your SO with a camping trip here as a proposal and dig for like a week to find the best diamond you can & have it put in a custom setting and have a great story & keepsake as your engagement ring...

That one at 19:35 IS a diamond. A LOT of diamonds have rounded edges, but people always look for those trademark triangular shapes at both end. That is a diamond.

I'm with you & Matrix on this one... I would have to develope a whole new set of eyes and patience. To me majority could've been quartz or could've been diamonds, you 'dar'n near' need magnifying glasses from the get-go.

This video did a good enough job describing the actual process, so maybe I am just too interested in the nitty gritty and behind the scenes stuff. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah it’s a really low risk of finding the diamonds, I’ve still never found one personally, but only dug there two days in my life. Thinking of going ending on for a week until I find one

One thing that you guys should have is a 10x magnifying glass to aid you to determine if its a diamond or quartz

Couldn't you use a portable wash plant and a pump instead of doing it by hand? Or is there certain rules against using them?

It’s pretty fun, chances of finding diamonds are very low but it’s just the chance that you might actually find one that makes it fun!
