    Hey guys, I appreciate the comments. This was done in Texas in the winter so the tires were quite cold. And yes I also was taking it easy on the drivetrain. If I get a chance I'll remake the video now that's it's summer to see if I can get the times down a bit!

    Nice Video. Boy how I miss that sound! I had one of these, 100% stock quicksilver metallic and the same year as you. Upon replacing the tires back to goodyears that were similar to the factory tires, the traction in 1st gear was much improved but that 1-2 shift had it squirming all over the road XD. Great fun I had in this car. The higher gears were more surprising to me however, it was the only car I had that just progressively kept pulling. In 4th on the highway it pulled like a damn freight train. The major downside to me was the very twitchy, nervous feeling handling. It handles great obviously but I'm not good enough to take advantage of this caliber of car. Sold it a couple years ago. My current car gives me more opportunity to drive spiritedly, but there is no replacing that LS6 signature sound. Thanks for taking me back!

      I’m hopefully getting a c5 zo6 soon, had an absolute blast with my brother test driving one before. It’s such a good drivers car for the money, idk how you could get bored of it.

      Nice read! Have had a base C6 but am seriously tempted on a supercharged 03 Z that's local. I'm thinking that car must need some really good drag radials to hook. What are you driving nowadays?

      @@Texas_Cruiser Hi Julian,
      Currently driving an all stock 2010 mazdaspeed 3 thats paid off. A supercharged z06 would be a hard one to handle. Enjoy your C6. Or make the plunge into something extremely badass it sounds. Drag radials would be the minimum for me.

      @888yourchoice7 ah the Mazda 3, fun car! I had a 02 WRX with full bolt ons and a tune. Such a fun car and i really miss it...I'm actually trying to decide between a fully built 2011 STI or a C5 Z. Both are in the same price range.

      @@Texas_Cruiser For me personally the C5 Zo6 was my daily driver. It was also completely stock like I said. And for what it was worth, it was fast enough for me to realise “ fast cars” are not my hobby.
      My problem with the z06 was that I never took it to the track, or anywhere where i could really drive it properly…it was a bit too much for me to enjoy driving on the street. What was the point of this amazing vette if all i was doing was driving it to work at 35mph and afraid to do anything fun lest the government ticket me? Seems pointless after a bit if your really not heart and soul into cars
      I would consider going against a fully built car. Its a good sign its been used pretty hard. Sure, cars are built to be used but something i like not to do.

    I wish the video was longer. I have a c6 and 1st gear has very little traction even with good tires and traction control

    Launch a little harder, let it wind out as far as you can before hitting the rev limiter, and slam it into gear and hit the gas as your dropping that clutch, I think you can shave over half a second off 💪

    You just need a set of nitro nt05's, I can full throttle mash it with a 2500 slow dump in 1st and not an ounce of wheelspin, once the tires warmed up of course. Those suckers hook, there's prolly 25% tread left and they still hook right up once warm.gotta love the acceleration of these z06's in 1st and 2nd when she hooks. Beats many more powerful cars still to this day. Great bang for ur buck these ls6's

    I'm wondering if a better time could be reached by either (2) launching in 2nd gear, or (3) leaving it in 1st up to 60--or would that exceed redline. Seems like a lot of time is lost with that 1st to 2nd shift. What say ye?

    • @mulletsquirrel
      @mulletsquirrel 2 роки тому +2

      2nd gear redlines at about 65 or so. Starting in second would dog it and would be slower up to 40 mph, albeit with less wheelspin up to that point.

      I read on corvette forum of their being rock chips from the 305s being a tiny bit wider than the rear fender. Any issues with this on yours or do they fit flush? Also 40 or 45 profile?
