1969 I think it was...Hearing 10 yrs after changed my life. After this I expected so much more from all the rockers. Few measured up to Mr Alvin Lee. And now Joe Bonamassa owns his guitar. How fitting. :-D
All I can say is 'thanks'! In my late teens I listened to Alvin Lee's live recording at Woodstock. And now, today, at 68 yrs age, I get to hear and watch him perform decades later - as if he has not aged!
This man can blister a fret board better than anyone else on the planet. He has not lost a step. Go back and listen to his performance at Woodstock. Alvin just gets better. Love his ability.
Yep. After being shocked a bunch of times by the mic at Woodstock, they kicked going home to tue max. Still partial to Ricky, Leo and Chick. The night before Woodstock performance they were in st Louis, my home town. I was too young but my sister and her boyfriend went. There was a riot because they didn’t do going home. Leo’s story from that Saturday night until Sunday at Woodstock was hysterical. The poor guy just wanted to eat. Not sure he ever did.
For a seminal event such as Woodstock, there were so many seminal moments that electrified the listening crowd - Ritchie Havens singing Freedom, Alvin with I'm Going Home, The Who with the Tommy set, Santana with Soul Sacrifice, Jefferson Airplane with Volunteers Of America, Hendrix with the Star Spangled Banner, Canned Heat with Fried Hockey Boogie, The Fish Cheer, etc. Our music is amazing...
I saw Alvin in '83 in an intimate theater. Best concert of my life, and I've seen quite a few concerts in my day. He did it the way it should have been done.
Alvin Lee marcou toda uma geração apenas com essa música em sua apresentação em Woodstock. Mas ele era um virtuose com performances fantásticas por toda sua carreira! RIP.
Amazing guitarist. He plays all the standard stuff but just sounds like no other guitarist with his unique phasing. Plus his rhythm is so controlled but he sounds like he is about to loose it at any moment. Simply outstanding.
I'm going to be in the minority. I think Alvin Lee is a 'OK' ....meaning all he does is repeat short riff over another short riff. He's fast but I will take Guthrie Govan any day. enjoy your Alvin.

Would hate to be the drummer trying to keep up. Man, he had to be in shape (or fueled by some awfully good drugs).
Meu ídolo 💟 demais,desde Woodstock,sem palavras
One of the very best who left us way too soon. One of my all time favorite bands. The double bass on this just doesn't work though.
