Beautiful! Do you wait between layers to allow the clay to dry?

Not after every layer but if I feel like the clay is too wet to hold more weight then I’ll let the bottom dry out a bit and I’ll put some plastic over the top so that the top doesn’t dry out (because then when I attach more clay to it, it won’t be too dry) ✨

Thank you!✨ I use white stoneware clay. You can get it from a pottery supply store. If you are based in USA you can get from Clay King online - use codes Wendy5 for $5 off orders over $50 or Wendy10 for $10 off orders over $100. Hope this helps!☺️

my clay keeps getting pulled down mid working and it won’t stay still. what should i do?

Make sure the walls aren’t too thin (it’ll collapse from the weight) and then make sure the clay at the top isn’t too thick for the walls (it’ll weigh down). Also try building a bit slower - this gives it time for the base to start drying slowly as you’re working on the rest, making it hardier and therefore stronger (if your clay is still too wet then it will be extra floppy!). Lastly try choose a shape that will be supportive rather that a shape that can easily flop down on itself. Hope this makes sense and it helps!✨

I sand my pottery with very fine finishing sanding tool, then I clean the dust and I past a damp sponge. Fire, under glaze or glaze and fire for last time. I glaze in and out if I want that my vase is water resistant or food oven proof. I have lucky that at my art Center I just need to buy my clay there and I can use the tools, glazes and they fire for me. The block of clay cost me 34 dollars.
