Nv, if you get the chance, run the apex build with bark in an achillo pack. If you pounce a dino that can't hit you back while latched, you don't have to worry debuffing it and bark will let you absolutely shred the apex. Primarily eo, giga, and rex. (At least 3 need bark though, since you'd lose lone hunter thus you'd do more dmg alone with bark than if only 2 bark call.)
What's funny is: it doesn't pierce armor but instead reverts the combat weight system. Instead of the attack doing less damage scaled with combat weight, it does MORE. That's right. It does like 100 damage a hit to Apexes and 11 damage to Latens.
Ya, piercing attacks ignore armor, while the achillos attack reverts the effect of combat weight, doing not damage to heavier Dino’s and less to lighter
I personally like raptor strikes better against smaller opponents. It’s also better for any situation where u can face tank. Since I also use the claw swipe that’s 4 secs I don’t mind the damage trade off from the regular bite. It’s also quicker which is the biggest reason I use that instead of bite
Pounce paired with the stacking damage bite is way too op to not use vs bigger dinos. Achillo barely use any stamina when pounced, so the amount of damage you can deal before you have to jump off, is immense. Way stronger and less risky than the one featured in this tbh.
I disagree, pounce is maybe the MOST risky ability in the game, so many apexes have high dmg abilities that can hit you while pounced on certain parts of the Dino, pounce location is also 50% luck, I tested it on a spino and I pounced the back side of the body yet I attached by the claws (you can get hit while pounced here) it’s a super risky play style imo
i really like the first build as i am a solo player and not crazy at pvp so i dont want to push my luck on apex’s. but do you think using cruel swipe is better until you reach adult since mostly will be heavier than you? until you reach adult then you can swap to claw attack. thoughts? or is this bad
personally i think raptor strikes is better than the basic bite as you can load up those 5 stacks extremely fast and ride or even face tank (not always viable) some dinosaurs, but up against mid teirs you can get those hits in often with a much higher dmg output
Exact reason why I stopped using bite. With there being basically no cool down I use it to help cover my bases in achillo’s weaker areas like fighting smaller dinos
I think kentros should be avoided too, I mean you can get in front of them like sty on their behind, but their bleed is good. As a kentro myself, I taken out a few group of achillos in deathmatch, but nice tips lol
Might be important to note that Raptor strikes do more damage then the normal bite on Achillo. It’s weird cause on the other raptors it’s just worse. The bites base damage is 50 while a maxed raptor strike is 55. So the dps is much higher

I just need confirmation on if ripping kick hits raptors while pounced on. I got attacked by one on day 2 of release and during the fight it seemed like when I used the kick he dislodged quicker but I wasn’t sure if I was actually doing damage. That plus I was bucking. I kinda want to test it in game but most raptors I run into are friendly

I think people are sleeping on Hunters Instinct it’s quite good for passive players and chasing things down. Also since Meg is way more popular right now Survival of the Fittest is very good I think. I use the health regeneration subspecies
Warning for everyone. you cannot pounce a pt rex, carcha or giga without risking a heavy hit. they can reach you. you cannot pounce a spino on arms. it can claw u. if youre gonna use pounce do it on an og rex, hit legs on spino, and only do quick pounces on carch as it requires bucking to reach u. pt rex cant reach u from its legs unless it crouches and turns. giga can hit you on arms with a bite/bulldoze and on legs with a kick. so do a quick pounce on its legs aswell. safe hunting!
wrong cruel swipe is what u want when fighting anything bigger than u literally anything, u also want the hide to the left cus it makes u faster when bleeding or venomed its good enough to out run megs when u have venom, u also done need bark if u already have lone hunter so definitely run panic.
Ano and Amarga are also annoying for Achi, Kent can work, Meg usually does well since it can out turn Achi, Deinon and Laten can be annoying since they can pounce ya but if you have ripping kick it does hit them. Note solo a smart Hatz can kill ya, similar speed, health, and does more damage with Peck than you’ll do to it with Claw Swipe or Cruel Claw. It does have to play carefully but it can win. A decent cerato can also do numbers since they have the same health, weight, damage, and speed. That ones mostly down to who’s better on what Dino (though Achillo has damage debuff or damage buff calls). Sarco can just grab ya and drown ya. Stego just don’t. Ya pounce it, it hits ya. Ya hang around it, it hits ya. You can try to bait, but decent stegos know how to work around this. For apex killer, Raptor strikes is better than normal just because for Apexs it’ll do more damage when ya pounce them as the dps is a lot better than Normal Bite. Also who isn’t running Panicking Sprint solo, it’s busted. People probably don’t talk about it much because it’s just obvious to run it when solo.

If you're doing a pounce based playstyle, Shred and Raptor Strikes works the best. Claw attack is bugged while pouncing and Ripping Kick sucks statwise. (10 damage and .25 bleed...ew)

Also, I DESTROYED a rex today using the normal claw attack. He had slick hide and had tail attack. Sure, some randoms helped me, but come on it was a deinon(a VERY experienced deinon main. She was jumping around and was so awesome and friendly!), a meg(just did 2 big bites and a couple of normal bites), a ripping kick lat, a baby meg, a sub achillo, and a baby lat. Though, I did like 80-90% of the damage. And wdym you have no friends?! You have a girlfriend! Would be nice if you two played together in a video or something.
Just gonna say ripping kick does not suck at all for combat in my opinion it’s the only thing I use agains a dasp and bigger it’s pretty easy since achillo jumps quite high you can just jump and kick it in the face while it can’t hit you back since your pushed forward with kick I’ve nearly killed deinocheirus with this too since their head is a really easy spot to hit with their bite also having a slight delay you can just kick most Dino’s faces without being hit yourself. Ripping kick is also again in my opinion very good for dealing with other of your size/strength like it counters megalania very well as most of your abilities are very hard to hit on a megalania (sorry for the word wall)

I think I havent lost to an achi as maip a single time. To me it seems like the turn radius is too low for achi to not get hit even if they are baiting and the bleed is on my side as well.

I first build is almost the excat same build I use only difference being I use the jump control tail I thought it was gonna make my jump control like pachy but honestly I don't see any difference in my jump control and also they should just get rid of this raptor boss bs and change it group abilities for when you grouped with other achillibators Edit: 5:07 that's a stam regen call not a debuff call achillibator dosent have a debuff call

You won’t be lucky if you encounter a Z Rex trust me it ain’t that easy to take one down because I played as one and I solo three raptors, and their bodies were all stacked and you wanna know how I used stomp and if they get close, and they get stuck one shot baby, they are dead to them were of course the new raptor and one of them was a Utah. It was actually pretty fun. However, I noticed some other players Rashi avoiding these attacks they were probably victims of mine, and so they learned from their mistakes. and for me, I decided to body denied them because of course they were in a mixed group so pretty much they didn’t deserve to kill. Most of them were bleeders and bone breakers like seriously every time I go into IC in hub I’m always attacked and treated like shit. No one has respect for me.

Depends what you’re hunting, if your hunting apexes then the apex killer build. If not, then the solo build with a different sense

Just gonna say ripping kick does not suck at all for combat in my opinion it’s the only thing I use agains a dasp and bigger it’s pretty easy since achillo jumps quite high you can just jump and kick it in the face while it can’t hit you back since your pushed forward with kick I’ve nearly killed deinocheirus with this too since their head is a really easy spot to hit with their bite also having a slight delay you can just kick most Dino’s faces without being hit yourself. Ripping kick is also again in my opinion very good for dealing with other of your size/strength like it counters megalania very well as most of your abilities are very hard to hit on a megalania (sorry for the word wall)
This also works for albertas where the kick will hit the top of their head and they can’t hit you back (might work for attract too)

I think I havent lost to an achi as maip a single time. To me it seems like the turn radius is too low for achi to not get hit even if they are baiting and the bleed is on my side as well.
I use the other species build, attack I think, only cause I like it's mohawk

The build that i made is almost the same as your apex build but i use raptor strikes in theory it should be better
theres a guy named azurenix or something who has learned a really overpowered bunnyhop system with the achillobator.. it outruns a struthi and a diving hatz.. idk how to do it
I have got my own thing like that too, I do ripping kick into jump into pounce into multiple jumps

I first build is almost the excat same build I use only difference being I use the jump control tail I thought it was gonna make my jump control like pachy but honestly I don't see any difference in my jump control and also they should just get rid of this raptor boss bs and change it group abilities for when you grouped with other achillibators

You won’t be lucky if you encounter a Z Rex trust me it ain’t that easy to take one down because I played as one and I solo three raptors, and their bodies were all stacked and you wanna know how I used stomp and if they get close, and they get stuck one shot baby, they are dead to them were of course the new raptor and one of them was a Utah. It was actually pretty fun. However, I noticed some other players Rashi avoiding these attacks they were probably victims of mine, and so they learned from their mistakes. and for me, I decided to body denied them because of course they were in a mixed group so pretty much they didn’t deserve to kill. Most of them were bleeders and bone breakers like seriously every time I go into IC in hub I’m always attacked and treated like shit. No one has respect for me.
I think the best achillo counter is maip, +/- the same speed, and big dmg
