NOTE: Measurements taken with the cover off. Use a long level to place on top of the shell for your measurements. Measureing down 8” from the top of the spa shell will make the cover stand up approx 75% above the spa surface when the cover is off and approximately 9” of clearance behind the spa will be needed. If you want an instant so called wall for privacy if outside then this is a good thing. Measuring 12” down will make the cover stand approx 50% above the spa surface and approximately 15” of clearance behind the spa will be needed. This IMO is perfect if your tub is in an enclosure. I already have a back wall and don’t need a 2nd one. The 9” from the rear spa shell to the center of both holes for the mounting bracket. Use a long level to get this measurement. When lining up the center bar, move the bar 1/2” away from the hinge towards the rear.
When you install the screws in the center bar you can put the lifter in the upwards position away from the cover keeping any possible damage to the vinyl from happening.
Forget the 12 inches below the top of the hot tub. Assemble your tubing to the bracket and put the side arm on without putting the screws in. Now put the bracket on the side of the hot tub and see where it lines up so you can secure it to the side of the hot tub. Mark it with a pencil and take out the side arm. Secure it to the side of the hot tub with your screws. That way you don't put it on wrong.
makes perfect sense! I'm not sure why you screw in the brackets before the arm assembly, easy to make a mistake and have unwanted holes in your spa if redo is required.
It all depends if you want the cover high up 75% when the tub is open or 50%. 8” down to the bottom hole gets you with 75% above the spa surface and 12” gets the cover 50% above the spa surface. It’s not a simple cut and dry location for the mounting bracket. If your tub is outside and you want a wall for privacy or a wind blocker, then mount the bracket high towards the spa shell. The general numbers are 8” and 12”. The middle bar should be 1/2” behind the center cover seam.
my covermate lift has a thin bar that slides through the cover which looks like it keeps it attached. The material on the cover is thin i am worried it will break it, i think i have a covermate I, can you help?
Delete this video and do another one that is right. you measured 12 inches then stopped. or change your video to read putting lift together not assembling lifter to hot tub. very bad video

how is the bottom hole 9 inches in from the back? That hole is totally suspended?
Perfect! Thank you for making this so easy.
Looking at your video there, there is no way your bracket is 9 inches in and the bolt in line where 12x9 would be.
