4 Levels of Onion Rings: Amateur to Food Scientist | Epicurious
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 бер 2020
- We challenged chefs of three different skill levels - an amateur, a home cook, and a professional - to make a batch of onion rings. After each of them had presented their crunchy creations, we asked a food scientist to review their work. Which level of onion rings look the most delicious to you?
Check out the level 3 recipe on the ICE blog: www.ice.edu/blog/frank-proto-...

Wait-
HOW DID NONE OF THEM CRIED WHILE CUTTING THE ONION?!?
ThEy BuiLt DifFeREnT BrO! 💪
edit 1: Omg Thx for the likes!
It helps that they had sharp knives. You see, the reason some people cry when cutting onions is because they release chemicals when cut, and taking longer to cut them release more of these chemicals into the air... generally in the direction of your face, as it is the closest set of smell and taste receptors available.
they just built different
The onions might not be at room temperature.. room temperature onions are more likely to make you cry than cold ones.. also it’s about how you cut it.. you’re supposed to stay away from the root (the thicker end)
they didn't cut the roots if u look closely
once you cut the roots on the onion the onion proceeds to "tear up" which releases a gas / liquid - not sure which state it is exactly so yeah , that causes u to cry :D
If your onion is cold and you have a very sharp knife it's more difficult to cry
I've watched quite a few of these videos now, and almost every time I feel like the 2nd level chef option always looks more appealing.
