Fritz always plays great against Thiem. Just like their two USO matches this could have gone either way. Fritz served like a monster 2-6 1-2 onwards, looked unbreakable at times.
either way....ahmmm...no. Unlikely. Main difference the backhand. Fritz is still not mastering that shot, Thiem is. Thiem is faster too. I think if Fritz gets this backhand improved things might look up....but who knows....
@@philippboetcher9959 it's sad. American players are all serve and dominate with the forehand. Heck there's an American (Johnson) who uses a slice virtually exclusively as his backhand. The American with the best backhand is Sandgren but he's not even the top American (serve bot John Isner)...American tennis is just one dimensional post-Roddick/Agassi...
@@ispeakasiplease True, I have been a Sandgren fan for a while, still strange he didn't manage to climb higher in the rankings yet, very strong player! My favourite american player is Jack Sock. His technique is unique and he plays really clever, hope he climbs back to his true potential:) But yeahh my ultimate favourite is...Thiem:) He is like a future version of Federer, if in the future every stroke had an extra boost plus extra topspin.
@@ispeakasiplease Isner can play good from baseline too. The problem lies may be their approach towards the game. For instance the tennis was about big serves in 90s when Americans used to dominate. Time changed and they didn't adopted the baseline game. Its totally my point of view.
In 1984 McEnroe used to kill great players like these tournaments with his serve and volleying attack game. If they all used the same equipment in their prime, it would be hard to believe they'd dominate him.
Dominic can hit those down the line shots with his superb backhand in his sleep. The guy was literally born to hit those kinds of shot ....seemingly out of nowhere (and unexpectedly by his opponents). Thiem has one of the finest single-backhand strokes in the history of tennis.
Oliver McCall thien hits super hard, but he’s still very smart with his placement and points, not just trying to rip every ball as hard as he can. Some players just hit as hard as possible without shaping points...
Thiem always has full respect and gives a "Bravo" when his opponent played an awesome shot! I really love this.

This shows for me that Taylor has broken through and is up there with the big boys❤
He still needs a lot of improvement on footwork.
@@opticandersonopticanderson3364 And his return of serves. If he improve area he could win those points he would normally loose.
@@opticandersonopticanderson3364 exactly. he is so heavy footed and has really bad footwork for a professional player
Taylor is too slow
Taylor is a top 10 player now 😅
Thank you for resemption
Thiêm i love you
Woooow finally highlights like bruhhhh
Yeah finally, but they could take out the stupid slow motions after almost every point and make it 15 instaed of 31 minutes

Dominic my idol! He is the best player!
Federer the best

Wawrinka got some fierce 1 handed dtl shots too. Would like to see them go at
he actually switched to a one handed backhand on his youth so he wasn’t “born with it” he probably just works really hard and is really talented

Fritz ballbasher. Thiem still too passive on hardcourts
