Sounds fantastic and raw. Great demo man!

Easy to see why these were so popular! A great classic - hard rock sound. Kick some sort of boost in front for solos back off the guitar volume to clean up a bit. Great rock amps.

Does a 50 watt JCM800 with the same gain have a higher volume for home use than a mesa rectifier?

Would really depend on where the master volume is set and the sweep or sensitivity of that knob. Both will sound pretty bad at "bedroom" levels and all of my demos of amps are at band volume or sometimes a bit louder. The master volume knob on this JCM800 is very sensitive there really isn't a "home" or bedroom volume setting, its almost nothing then basically quiet band volume. I think rectifiers can get a bit better at lower volumes but because of the fizz in the FX loop they do not sound good at all quiet unless you bypass the loop (at least on anything pre multi-watt). Hope that helps!

Why would you want to know that?

@@fedup3449 As we all know, the louder the volume, the better the sound of all amps. However, many people say that especially JCM800 and JMP, which require a high volume to be effective, Mesa is not. I use a 150 watt triple rectifier in my bedroom, which usually switches to 50 watts and produces 120db. The sound is acceptable.

@@acrylicrecording My bedroom volume is usually 120db, which is not quiet but acceptable.

@@9iii460 I use the Marshall DSL40 which can switch to a 20W. In addition I have channel volumes plus master volume so I can get all the gain I want and turn to below talk level if needed. Works fine. Cheers!
