What a stupid list. No 1 is a novelty song not meant to be taken seriously. No 2 might have cheesy lyrics but the harmonies alone make it a timeless summer song. And why on earth is the great Minnie Riperton listed here....

If these songs were banned in the 70s, why did I still hear them or have albums with them?

Wow Disco Duck is trash at its best. I don't like the rest of the list either. I may add as 70s trash "Automatic Lover - Dee.D. Jackson" and "Crazy Horses - The Osmonds".

Apart from the number one which was godawful, they were not the worst of the seventies. Some were average, others were quite good. If you are thinking of really dire seventies, you are looking at songs like Sugar Baby Love, and Puppy Love, not the Paul Anka original, but the version by that girlie Donny Osmond. But we mustn't forget that Telly Savalas UK number one hit, If.

No matter how bad the songs of the 70s are, they are still better than most of the songs they are now, and remember in the old days there was no auto tune so they recorded purely using their talents

I knew every single one of those songs. My parents raised me on their music, as well as what was playing, as I was growing up in the 80's. My favorite in these, is Play That Funky Music.

I graduated high school in 1974, so this was my generation. Yeah, most of these songs were pretty bad, but the Minnie Riperton one was REALLY grating! Another bad one was Which Way You Goin' Billy by (I think) The Poppy Family. The problem with it was you could hear her taking a breath before singing a line. I guess it wasn't recorded right.

Terry Jacks not a bad song in my opinion, a Ballard about a person due to die whether by natural causes or execution.
