Ah Goodman, this boss has left me confused of what SNK thinks about Igniz. In case you didn't know, Goodman was designed as a parody of Igniz. Why? Because Igniz wasn’t created by SNK but by Eolith (the last KOF that SNK did before entering bankruptcy, until it returned as SNK Playmore in 2003, was KOF 2000. Eolith was the one who made KOF 2001, where Igniz debuted, and KOF 2002 vanilla), there is also the fact that Igniz killed in a cinematic the character who was originally going to be the final boss of the saga, if SNK had not entered bankruptcy, Nests himself. From what I just said I thought that SNK didn’t like Igniz, but he reappeared in the rerelease of KOF 2002 that SNK made, KOF 2002 Unlimited Match, even though he was not in the original version, in addition there is the fact that he is one of the souls that were released after Verse's defeat in KOF XIV and is a playable character in KOF All Stars. We can say that SNK cannot erase Igniz from existence because, although his existence was not planned, by Eolith's work he ended up being a crucial part in the end of the Nests saga. But we can also say that SNK began to like Igniz over the years, since we all know that SNK had no trouble deleting K9999 from the history of KOF and the things he did (like the fact that he killed Foxy, confirmed because she appears in future games accompanying Kula in her supers) because SNK hates the character. For all that I have just said, I remain confused about SNK's opinion about Igniz. Not gonna lie, this game is a little weird to me. Aside from the fact that I have NEVER played this game in my life, it just... feels weird. It's not a bad kind of weird, don't misunderstand. lol I do know that Max freaking out when he fought Orochi in KOF '97 was largely because he fought Mizuchi, a character exclusive to this game and is also a clone of Orochi. The plot is nonsensical but given who the two main characters are and who the main antagonist is, I'd say that's intentional~ lol More on that below. - King of Fighters Neowave was a game made to test out the hardware of the Atomiswave arcade system for the eventual King of Fighters XI. It's widely believed that this game (Neo Geo Battle Coliseum) is also a test for KOF XI even though this game came out only a few months before KOF XI. - The plot is an odd one but try to keep up~ The main setting of this game is NEOGEO World. It takes place on February 2017 in "New Japan". An eviiil organization called "WAREZ" and their leader, Goodman, are trying to take over the NEOGEO World and to do that, they seek the world's power. However, the organization decided to sponsor a special event called the "NEOGEO BATTLE COLISEUM". To counter this, two agents of the Federative Government of New Japan are sent to stop Goodman and save the NEOGEO World~! ...Did thatm ake sense to you? Excellent, 'cause it gets funnier down below~ - This game's theme and plot pretty much mocks the emulation community, hands down. lol In the past (and still to this day), SNK had lost money because people illegally emulated their games instead of buying them or paying for them which likely contributed to their bankruptcy in 2001. Despite that, it seems SNK is having fun and are showing no ill will towards their fans with this title and onward, haha. I mean, the main characters, Yuki and Ai, just LOVE SNK's products. Ai loves the Neo Geo Pocket Color for example. X'D And the company, WAREZ, is the obvious jab at the emulation community. - As a "Dream Match" of sorts, this game's casts are not just limited to Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, or King of Fighters, but ALL of SNK. Instead of Athena Asamiya, you got (Princess) Athena. Marco Rossi from Metal Slug has entered the fray as well, a couple of Samurai Shodown and The Last Blade all-stars and we even have characters from less known SNK titles like World Heroes, King of the Monsters, Aggressors of Dark Kombat, and Savage Reign. But there are PLENTY of character cameos around too~! - This game has multiple final bosses but depend on how well you play: . Mizuchi, a Clone of Orochi made by WAREZ . Neo Dio, a boss from World Heroes (another SNK game) . King Leo (or Shin Shishioh), a boss version of King Lion from Savage Reign and Kizuna Encounter (two "sequels" to Fatal Fury and AOF) . Goodman, the true final boss of this game and a boss exclusive to this game... He was designed after Igniz from KOF 2001 funnily enough~ - A few characters from this game were ported over to the PS2 Port of King of Fighters XI. These characters are (EX) Kyo, Geese, Mai Shiranui, Tung Fu Rue, Mr. Big, Robert Garcia, and Hotaru Futaba. - Just like with past SNK fighters, this game has both the Arcade OST and the Arranged OST. However, the arranged tracks aren't like the pre-KOF 2000 arranged OSTs. They're more akin to post-KOF 2001 (or Garou: MOTW) Arranged OSTs in that the tracks are merely updated with new instruments instead of having original pieces exclusive to the Arranged OSTs. XP That's all! Really short this time~
There's a little more meta angle to the plot that you missed. Goodman is designed to look like Igniz (the big end boss of KOF 2001, the year they went bankrupt) and runs an evil organization called WAREZ (as you pointed out; a jab at pirated games). So you have this massive SNK crossover fighter, with a series of major SNK bosses, but who do you place as the biggest SNK boss of them all? SNK's bankruptcy. That's the ultimate villain in the big SNK crossover fighter. The toughest SNK challenge of all time: an incarnation of its bankruptcy. It's brilliant.
@@codybaier I more or less said ALL of that, y'know? XD I even mentioned Goodman being designed after Igniz when I listed the potential final bosses of this game. lol
I wouldn't even put him in Top 5 cheapest SNK bosses ever. Prob not even Top 10 either. I don't even think he's the hardest boss in this game. Shin Shishiou (King Leo) is a son of a bitch.
@@DURIEL1 Here's all the ones I would count as probably worse, just from SNK alone: --Art of Fighting 2 Young Geese --That asshole at the end of Last Blade 2 --SamSho 2 Mizuki --SamSho 4 Zankuro --SamSho 6 Demon Gaoh --KOF 94 Rugal --KOF 95 Saisyu Kusanagi and Omega Rugal (yes, I count them as one since you fight them back-to-back with NO health recovery! For my money the hardest boss fight in any fighting game) --KOF 96 Goenitz (ONLY because he reads your inputs) --KOF 99 Krizalid --KOF 2001 Igniz --KOF 2002 Omega Rugal (even worse in 2002 UM since he has TRIPLE health!!!) --KOF Neowave Young Geese (2nd biggest bastard in SNK history only behind KOF 95) --KOF XI Magaki --NGBC King Leo (he's definitely worse than Goodman) --KOF Maximum Impact Duke (the ONLY thing that keeps him back is his braindead AI. If the CPU had an ounce of sense he would be a definite Top 3 contender). --SvC Chaos Shin Mr. Karate (another boss that just doesn't lose unless he doesn't feel like spamming moves that you can't do anything about)
Ironiy: Mizuchi is the easiest boss to reach, at least the PS2 version. I recalled I could only get up to King Leo and he was overpowered with his giant hitboxes. I did manage to get to Dio as well but only once, I believe. Yes, I played this game a lot. I do desire a NGBC2.

Man i've been wanting a Neo Geo Battle Coliseum 2 for awhile now. Love the character variety and the different series that were represented. When it comes to the bosses, Mizuchi (Orochi wannabe) was always the most annoying to deal with, even more so than Goodman.
@@joshualowe959 Yea King Lion wasn't that bad to me, he's a lot worse in Kazuna Encounter, lol. Same for Neo Dio, in World Heroes he's a lot tougher to me.
I saw Goodman in the thumbnail and had flashbacks of playing through the game to get to each boss. Neo Dio is eventually doable, Mizuchi is utter nonsense, and Goodman is such...just, screw you, Goodman
Goodman here at least has an exploitable weakness (if you hit him before he snaps his whip, it cancels his attack). Compare that to Igniz who can just infinite you or kill you anytime he feels like it or the likes of Omega Rugal and Krizalid who can spam attacks the entire time that you can't do anything about.
This isn't the worst case of vaseline-smear filtering I've seen in a fighter, it sort of reminds me of what KOF '94 Re-bout looked like. That said, I'd still prefer seeing all the big ol' pixels.
"You cheesy bitch..NOW YOU'RE PURPLE!!" xD Goodman also appeared in SNK VS Capcom: Card Fighters Clash DS in 2006, as year after Battle Coliseum was released.
I remember seeing Goodman on SaltyBet once and thinking "This is some guy's mod of Igniz, right?" and being astonished when I found out he was actually real.
“I got your notes on how you want the last boss of this game to be, and I have some questions. Now, when you say “invincible, purple, energy gorilla”…..
This was the series I always wanted SNK to continue. This game isn't that great on its own merrits but the foundation and ideas are. Hell, I even think its more interesting than KOF itself due to the mechanics and roster. This is like Kof but for all of the SNK universe, that just leaves SO much untapped potential on the floor. Real shame it was just iced like it was :/.
Well, the fact that Ash Crimson was erased from the continuity of KOF... for 5 minutes (because Elizabeth struggled to revive him at the end of KOF XIV), and that fucking the continuity of space time seems to have opened up the possibilities to that any character can appear in KOF, alive, dead, from other universes, etc.
Funny enough, NGBC is one of the franchises the guys at SNK have said they want to bring back now that they're back in action. And since SamSho was also on that short list, chances are good!
This game was gorgeous! It really was underrated in its time, with no in part that FPS and action hack and slashes games were the rage during the time it was released (around the 6th-7th generation of console gaming)
Man, it's a real trip seeing this game's roster again and actually recognizing most of the characters. Compared to like ten years ago when the only two I recognized were Marco and Marspeople.
You notice Goodman doesn't punch or kick. He sits from afar and lashes you with his Castlevania fire whip while sicking his fire demon. He's a literal Zoner or in other words, a POS.
I remember being so pumped for this game back in the day. My best friend and I would eagerly anticipate the trailers for each of the new characters. I remember my buddy broke down and bought a modded PS2 and imported the game cause we didnt know if it was gonna come over here to the US.
You missed ONE game: KOF:Neowave. The closest to 98 and 13/14 but the graphics were still stuck in the old school. It's not emulated but can be found on PS2 disc
Just got this game, pretty awesome 🔥 the characters can look sharper. Did see something in the options, imo turning off the smoothing effect the characters look way better
If I made NEO·GEO Battle Coliseum: The roster would feature no fighters with swords. The ones from Samurai Shodown, The Last Blade, Sengoku Denshou, Fu'un, and Athena would instead appear in a prequel called NEO·GEO Swordplay Coliseum.
That Athena, the Athena of SVC and this game, is not Athena from KOF, it's Athena from the old platform arcade game of the same name. Of course she's in a chainmail bikini, that's the outfit she had there. The Athena from KOF is Athena ASAMIYA, originally from another SNK arcade platformer, called Psycho Soldier. She is actually a DESCENDANT of the other Athena.
The best stage work I've seen SNK do before KOF 12 and 13. 15 needs to be next level as in a game that finally looks like that latest graphics of this gen.

Excellent, 'cause it gets funnier down below~
- This game's theme and plot pretty much mocks the emulation community, hands down. lol In the past (and still to this day), SNK had lost money because people illegally emulated their games instead of buying them or paying for them which likely contributed to their bankruptcy in 2001.
- This game has multiple final bosses but depend on how well you play:
. Mizuchi, a Clone of Orochi made by WAREZ
. Neo Dio, a boss from World Heroes (another SNK game)
. King Leo (or Shin Shishioh), a boss version of King Lion from Savage Reign and Kizuna Encounter (two "sequels" to Fatal Fury and AOF)
. Goodman, the true final boss of this game and a boss exclusive to this game... He was designed after Igniz from KOF 2001 funnily enough~
- A few characters from this game were ported over to the PS2 Port of King of Fighters XI.
XP
That's all! Really short this time~
Keep up the good work dood, was pretty cool info.
NESTS Kyo and Geese were also ported from this game to King of Fighters XI.
thatm ake
XD I even mentioned Goodman being designed after Igniz when I listed the potential final bosses of this game. lol
*HOLY SH*T, Goodman is one of the most cheapest bosses ive ever seen.*
I wouldn't even put him in Top 5 cheapest SNK bosses ever.
Prob not even Top 10 either.
I don't even think he's the hardest boss in this game.
Shin Shishiou (King Leo) is a son of a bitch.
@@ShikiDan No, he feels like Top 5, along with Igniz and God Rugal.
SNK baby
@@DURIEL1
Here's all the ones I would count as probably worse, just from SNK alone:
--Art of Fighting 2 Young Geese
--That asshole at the end of Last Blade 2
--SamSho 2 Mizuki
--SamSho 4 Zankuro
--SamSho 6 Demon Gaoh
--KOF 94 Rugal
--KOF 95 Saisyu Kusanagi and Omega Rugal (yes, I count them as one since you fight them back-to-back with NO health recovery! For my money the hardest boss fight in any fighting game)
--KOF 96 Goenitz (ONLY because he reads your inputs)
--KOF 99 Krizalid
--KOF 2001 Igniz
--KOF 2002 Omega Rugal (even worse in 2002 UM since he has TRIPLE health!!!)
--KOF Neowave Young Geese (2nd biggest bastard in SNK history only behind KOF 95)
--KOF XI Magaki
--NGBC King Leo (he's definitely worse than Goodman)
--KOF Maximum Impact Duke (the ONLY thing that keeps him back is his braindead AI. If the CPU had an ounce of sense he would be a definite Top 3 contender).
--SvC Chaos Shin Mr. Karate (another boss that just doesn't lose unless he doesn't feel like spamming moves that you can't do anything about)
@@eldritch0golem698 Excuse me for having an opinion and sound like Elitist trash.
One of the best fighting games snk ever made, it's basically King of fighters but more chaotic
Goodman looks like igniz!!
His only weaknesses is he can't jump or crouch
Shin Goodman(health recovery with more buffs)
Mizuchi is harder than him.
@@CrossoverGameReviews Shin King Lion is too op. He's more broken in his games
@@omegadragoon1544 I recalled one time I was fighting him with Hanzo, he leaped up and used the attack where he body drops on you. I dodged it only to get hit by his toe. HIS FREAKING TOE! I might have the clip somewhere.
@@CrossoverGameReviews a clip of you fighting him? His combos takes out more than half health
@@omegadragoon1544 Yeah. I'm looking for it right now.
So Goodman controls a flaming ghost ape with a fire whip. Somehow I feel that's the least ridiculous SNK boss to date.
Man i've been wanting a Neo Geo Battle Coliseum 2 for awhile now. Love the character variety and the different series that were represented. When it comes to the bosses, Mizuchi (Orochi wannabe) was always the most annoying to deal with, even more so than Goodman.
I remember Those Rumors that There was Going to Be a Second One, It never Happened Though
And there's King Lion.
@@joshualowe959 Yea King Lion wasn't that bad to me, he's a lot worse in Kazuna Encounter, lol. Same for Neo Dio, in World Heroes he's a lot tougher to me.
@@Next-xm2dh Yea me too man, i was hearing those rumors around the same time i was hearing rumors of Garou 2. Sadly neither one came true.
The selling point for Battle Coliseum is going to have to be that you can roll without using meter.
I guess a “Goodman is hard to fight”.
originalscreenname44 damn straight
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

HA!
Intro to American Literature, let's GOOOO!!!!!
Lyrics coming at you with supersonic speed. 18:12
I saw Goodman in the thumbnail and had flashbacks of playing through the game to get to each boss. Neo Dio is eventually doable, Mizuchi is utter nonsense, and Goodman is such...just, screw you, Goodman
17:17
Even the streaming software changed the layout for less than a half second.
"You cheesy bitch..NOW YOU'RE PURPLE!!" xD
Goodman also appeared in SNK VS Capcom: Card Fighters Clash DS in 2006, as year after Battle Coliseum was released.
Goodman...?
[Sees the purple gorilla fighting aura/flames]
Ah, yes. GOODMAN.
Aww man the greatest SNK character roster ever , I wish i have the game again
Goodman existed solely to steal quarters from people at a time when arcades were increasingly rare. There is no reason for Goodman to be that broken.
Mudman got the moves like Jager. And that final boss somehow made an animal trainer threatening.
Not gonna lie, this game look'n dope.
What if I wanted to play KOF ALLSTAR
But my phone say
NOT ENOUGH SPA
ACTUALLY SHUT UP YOU CLEARLY HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Goodman is dope. Giant purple flaming Baboon Tamer wielding a fire whip.
I remember seeing Goodman on SaltyBet once and thinking "This is some guy's mod of Igniz, right?" and being astonished when I found out he was actually real.
Goodman's like a laser-explosion-lion tamer? A cheesy lion tamer would be a cool concept for a puppet character in a fighting game.
Wow, True Final Boss. After your past efforts trying to get TFB's I expected Neo Dio or Shin Lion at the very least.
“Why was the Goodman such a shithead?”
Perhaps we may never know...
“I got your notes on how you want the last boss of this game to be, and I have some questions. Now, when you say “invincible, purple, energy gorilla”…..
7:59 Its funny how Terry voices cracks when he does buster wolf in this game. XD
No
My immediate reaction was "what is he a fuckin belmont?!"
Goodman's just a maxed-out Castlevania protagonist.
@@codybaier That's absolutely awesome to hear! I really want to see a modern-day rendition of Magician Lord in a fighting game lol.
This game looks ten times better than Capcom fighting evolution
This game was gorgeous! It really was underrated in its time, with no in part that FPS and action hack and slashes games were the rage during the time it was released (around the 6th-7th generation of console gaming)
Hey Max, are you okay?
Buster wolf
Rising Taco
@@x-Abraham-x2 Spicy taco?
Watching this, I realize
SNK bosses are just characters ported directly from Marvel
Man, it's a real trip seeing this game's roster again and actually recognizing most of the characters. Compared to like ten years ago when the only two I recognized were Marco and Marspeople.
I am honored to be called a Boss Battle...lol
😂😂😂
This game is free with Xbox Gamepass if anyone's interested
Thanks
Thanks man. I'm gonna download this as soon as I get home from work.
Are you sure its on gamepass? I don't see it.
Hey max, dont forget real bout dominated mind and his boss mr white
From what I've read this is also the last fighting game that Big Boss Kawasaki worked on.
17:14 Goodman defeated!!
This gets uploaded after I found my old copy of NGBC yesterday. Lol
I wouldn't mind if SNK made NeoGeo Battle Coliseum HD for the PS4..
You notice Goodman doesn't punch or kick. He sits from afar and lashes you with his Castlevania fire whip while sicking his fire demon. He's a literal Zoner or in other words, a POS.
Goodman fights with a blue fire monkey... no joke.
I love this game! One of my favorite fighting games on the PS2!!
Same here. Love the variety of characters and music. Still play this on ps2.
To this day, I still wonder what the hell Hyper Charge does after the team up attacks.
It gives your character a higher damage boost and I think and defense boost. Took me a while to find out about that.
18:41 WTF did Araki visited SNK and Jojo'd Terry and Rock? XD
Dayum... I forgot How beautiful this game's Backgrounds are... take notes third Strike!
Goodman's Stand reminds me of the final boss of Metal Slug 5 lmao
I remember being so pumped for this game back in the day. My best friend and I would eagerly anticipate the trailers for each of the new characters. I remember my buddy broke down and bought a modded PS2 and imported the game cause we didnt know if it was gonna come over here to the US.
ahhh at last!! He Plays against GOODMAN... havent seen the video.... ill need to watch this at home with proyector and my Home Theater
You missed ONE game: KOF:Neowave. The closest to 98 and 13/14 but the graphics were still stuck in the old school. It's not emulated but can be found on PS2 disc
"this combo does red damage" a good thing to remember
Terry just killed Bumblebee. Okay!
Just got this game, pretty awesome 🔥 the characters can look sharper. Did see something in the options, imo turning off the smoothing effect the characters look way better
Athena was totally fixing her thong in the middle of that fight.
11:46 GOOD MAN!
This game deserves a sequel.
If I made NEO·GEO Battle Coliseum:
The roster would feature no fighters with swords.
The ones from Samurai Shodown, The Last Blade, Sengoku Denshou, Fu'un, and Athena would instead appear in a prequel called NEO·GEO Swordplay Coliseum.
That Belmont boy been kicking your ass for days
18:12 Max becomes the new rap god
So THAT'S how you get to Goodman? Now I know how to fight him next time I play the game.
I see this as what Capcom Fighting Evolution should have been.
I smell a new Boss Rage video coming soon....
Kazuya entered KoF in one of the comics many years ago.
The best stage work I've seen SNK do before KOF 12 and 13. 15 needs to be next level as in a game that finally looks like that latest graphics of this gen.
I recommend labbing Marco, Yuki, and AI. They are so much fun
Igniz with a purple gorilla companion? what could go wrong?
That KoF All-Star x Tekken 7 cross over really makes me want SNK vs. Namco
If they ever do that its ginns be sick as hell final bosd can from snk or namco
kudos for being able to vocalize that as fast as you did lol!!
Goodman. Literally uses 3 moves. Whip, monkey attack and a block.
And 1 kick.
The amount of tweaks you need it to somewhat play it on a Retroid was worth it just to finally beat King Leo and Neo Dio.
1:51 neo-dio? iS tHaT a JoJo'S rEfErEnCe I hEaR?
Goodman should give you enough content for a new Boss Rage episode. Do it Max!!
Zatto on them bull steroids.
Max: Goodman. Good man. It's goodman
(Sees the sprite)
Max: Not Good! Not Goodman! This is not good!
