108 days sober. After the withdrawal the ease of cravings have diminished. Noa the hard part coming face to face with the demons which were barricaded by the alcohol. 53 years old and facing myself for the 1st time. God I present myself to you in full body mind and spirit. God bless and great listen. So many of his experiences hit home big time.
I really needed this meeting tonight. I’ve been going through a tough time with my self emotionally and listening to this has changed my mindset. Thank you so much for sharing.
I don’t drink much, but my brother who is in AA told me to listen to this. Bob and his way of outlining how when he feels bad he feeds the beast of outside validation and making himself feel good by bad things and putting others down does not work. Had up that’s me. Thanks for sharing Bob and helping this non-alcoholic seeing the light and explaining how people like “us” think
I first started listening to AA tapes /talks about 3 years ago. I didn’t care the topic(Lord knows I need them all) it was their voice the tempo , timbre of their speech that I needed to ‘hook’ me. After the First talk, I played a second and that’s all it took! 💥 HOOKED! Lol I played the same few tapes over before bed just to be lulled by his magic voice! Today the topics just get better and better, THANKS AA. Bob, you kept me coming back! you were the first speaker I wanted to repeat or tried to play again. Jus Sayin....
Thank you for posting!! - it is so important that alcoholics/addicts hear this- so clearly defines the malady of the problem, peace and love from Ireland x
“I had Climbed up on the throne of judgement playing God in the state of separation. Between me and you.” This is the most important thing. We humans need to stop creating separation between us. Alcoholics anonymous is the first program to give us a process to get closer to God and eliminate the illusion that we are separate from God.
Bob D is a friends sponsor and will be here in April 2024. I don’t put anyone a pedestal, but this man has wonderful sobriety. Even if some beliefs differ. Recovery, unity and service. 🙏🏽
Thanks Bob for referring to the original how to the text of the big book❤ As you say, pathetic but true. When the spiritual melody is overcome, we straighten out physically and mentally
Wow this guy is explaining my life in a nutshell. I'm such a social butterfly (the life of the party) with a couple shots but sometimes socially awkward when sober. These videos are life changing!
Bob has done sober research. The awareness is tremendous. Most are uncomfortable going to the depths he has! If you dont let the car own you or put on a nice outfit for the day its ok, I saw Bob speak in a lazy blue collar town west of chicago, he showed up in a tailored suit. Circuit Speaker ego was what allot of people thought of him, I see he is aware of himself. AA can be a room full of hypocrites as long as we are not all sick on the same day! Bob is a great speaker helping others wake up
Im on day 2. I've been in and out for 13 years. Treatment more times than I can count. Somehow, I am at the top of my career right now but at constant conflict with others at work and at risk of being fired because im restless, irritable and disconented. When I was stuck in treatment all i could think about was get the job back, get my family back, the girl, the money, the new car, none of it works. I dont even know how to stop managing my own life. These tapes are the only thing that give me an inclining of hope. I keep praying God will relieve me of the bondage of self because I'm so exhausted of self.
feading the beast, sounds like me , man this guy nails it, the new cars the flashy dress more tattoos, look at me, ive tried to fill the hole with stuff all my life, the new corvette the new truck and all the stuff never filled the hole, it just fell through the hole and felt the same as i did before... im on my way to learning minimalism by making others god and myself the maximum priority... its a hard journey for me but im getting there
I have always struggled with anger , resentments, and unforgiveness. I have been working on it with a therapist and 12 step sponsor, and it is getting better. I was told that resentments only hurt you, not the wrongdoers. I had to write down my resentments and how they affected me to see the damage to motivate me to let go. I also had to write down my part in the resentments so I could see where i was in the wrong, make amends, change behaviors, build my character and reconcile relationships if appropriate. Obviously there are some situations you don't play a part like if you were abused. I really get into psychology and human behavior so I like to understand why people act how they do for example mental illness. It helps to have compassion on them and to wish them well. This is NOT justifying or condoning it just helps to understand, have compassion, and wish them well. Its also not good to get revenge, not only because of consequence but they will get their karma and there will be justice. If it motivates them to change and make anends be happy for them.
