Surely the 1st point - you should be formatting your card in camera anyway so that's a workflow issue with any camera rather than Fuji specific?
Yes that's good practice, but I still find it's best to keep cards dedicated to specific brands. having said that, I found myself switching half full cards on the fly just because of how busy I was and that's how I learned the Fuji doesn't like it! haha
@@PeteCocoPhoto I had an issue when I first got my X-H2, even with brand new Fuji approved Lexar Silver Pro card. Despite putting it in the camera and formatting it, it said I could only take 39 photos on it, despite it being a 256GB card. It took three formats in camera before it sorted itself out. Has been fine ever since, but it immediately said to me that Fuji are sensitive to memory cards so it definitely won't be getting used in anything else!
I hear what you're saying about batteries, and I'd love to only use genuine Fuji batteries in my X-H2, but for me the batteries that have a built in USB-C port for charging are so convenient. I can't wait for it to charge in camera, and I can't be bothered to carry a dedicated charger around with me knowing that SmallRig or Newell batteries will charge off my phone charger that I have with me anyway.
That being said, thanks for pointing out that third party batteries don't support in camera charging as I would have likely found that out the hard way!
Great point, thank you!
Hi Pete. Amazingly, this has been a very helpful video! I was suffering some serious case of 'I am sharing memory cards between cameras and something will go wrong soon'. Luckily, I just got another set of cards for the second camera...Phew! Regarding RAW + JPG, could not agree more. One can always delete files at a later stage, but can NEVER go back and take the exact same pictures! In any case, cheers for the video!
Glad that it helped!
Great info. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Off brand batteries suck. Was shooting a wedding and couldn't remove it during the ceremony as it was slightly thicker than genuine. Had to slam the camera on my palm to jolt it out.
Had a similar issue with my X-T and third-party batteries. Turned out they had swollen and were a bitch to get out. Ditched them in the end and stuck to Fuji batteries.
Wow! That's crazy. It's definitely NOT worth it to save a few bucks.
Just bought replacements from china, dirt cheap, the w126s, looks are identical to the original same with size so no issues, it also charges via usb with no issues. Maybe I got lucky as it also seem to last the same as the original, for now.
Spot on ..can I add a 4th turn camera off when changing lenses. 😂...love your work Pete. Nev
Absolutely! That's a big no-no LOL
I use Olympus EM1mk2, Fujifilm XS-10, and Fujifilm XH2S, so thankfully I can keep the CFxpressB cards in the XH2S and it won't cross over to the others XD.
Hello from Uruguay! I never had that memory card issue, but it's good to know, that this can happen. It seems my fuji xt4 likes my Canon 5Dsr :) I agree with the batteries, they last less, and my camera got quite hot with those 3rd party batteries. Best wishes!
Thanks for watching!
I always shoot raw, but, first time switching from Canon to Fuji I've managed to somehow change the settings on the fly at a car show from raw+jpeg to jpeg only by accident, only noticed that at home. Boy was I pissed as the lighting was difficult and some images had blown out sky and the only way to recover them was using AI sky replacements...
It takes a minute to get used to the fuji menus. I still prefer the Canon menu system.
Can you tether XT5 without any problems?
I tether with C1 without any problem.
Is this memory card issue solved by formatting the card before starting?
Yes if you format it should be fine but I still like to keep my cards separate just in case.
Never had issues switching SD cards between sony and Fujifilm cameras. Sandisk 32GB has broken down twice though only used in Fujifilm cameras. Shoot Jupio and Hahnel batteries for 5 years without any problems. Shot jpg-only professionally for 3 years and some of those images were fixed in Snapseed and sold for 800usd each.
You’re a rock star.
@@PeteCocoPhoto nahh but a punkrocker in my way of living and photograping! 😁
@@Swingkid14 😅
I’d be interested in your workflow, particularly how you store the jpegs and raw files. Do you rename your files? How do you organize all of this data?
Hey Glenn, I use Capture One and it makes it pretty easy to organize everything into sessions, favorites, and exports.
Format the card anyway...
Yep this is the best way. However, there have been days where I'm on multiple shoots with 2 or 3 cameras, and not able to format anything until I get back to my studio. That's how I figured out the Fuji camera doesn't like cards with Canon images lol
@@PeteCocoPhoto .....you still make a valid and valuable argument in your video. Thank you for sharing...
😊Ƙ
3 things... I can say this as I own 3... 1. Buy a Fujifilm 2. Buy a Fujifilm 3. Buy a Fujifilm .... totally losing faith in the botched firmware updates on the XH2s, they made the AF system as inconsistent as an XT2 since F3.0, I'm told Fuji Japan knows of the issue but months have passed, and still no update and we are on version 5.0.
This is really sad to hear, Karl. I didn't know there was so much trouble with the XH2s firmware. The AF when I tested it (right when it was released) was excellent. Hopefully there will be a fix soon for you.
@@PeteCocoPhoto yes it used to be more consistent and when the box was green it was focused, now it tells you it’s focused and it is maybe 50% of the time, even in af-s… so annoying, right now wish I kept my A9ll and a7r4, but when I switched I was happy with the choice I made, now not so much 🫤
@@karlbratby4349 wow. That's terrible. They release a lot of firmware updates hopefully it will be addressed soon.
im so tired of the only shoot RAW bs. JPEGS have a lot of latitude for editing; furthermore, learn your wb settings and properly expose highlights/shawdows. Heavily editing (boring/flat) photos is so boring. This is coming from someone who shot RAW for 5+ years.
Ok
